Is it possible to properly run Windows 11 on a Early 2011 Core i5 Macbook Pro? The drivers I used: bit.ly/3fKn5HA If you enjoyed the video, please subscribe to my channel! Website and Blog: macintoshmen.is-great.net
Video summary: 1- Computer & OS: 2011 MacBook Pro running macOS Monterey. 2- Install Windows 11 on the MacBook Pro 2011. 3- Create a 64-bit USB Windows 11 with Rufus to bypass the CPU and TPM requirements. 4- Use Disk Utility to partition the disk into 850 GB MS-DOS(FAT32) and 350 GB Apple file system. 5- Check if the computer can still boot after partitioning. 6- Hold down the option key to select Windows 11 USB and boot from it. 7- Launch the installation of Windows 11 from USB. 8- Delete the FAT32 partition, if it's not recognized by Windows 11 setup wizard. Format this partition, Continue Windows 11 installation, then reboot. 9- Choose the Windows installation partition to boot from and continue with setup process.
Thank you so much for this video. I can confirm this did work for me this MID JUNE 2024 and all your drivers also worked except the audio driver which windows just did not want to scan so i just got lazy and used the bluetooth with my speakers, which is just fine. The performance is surprisingly good tbh for this late 2011 MBP and i'm going to try this on a 2009 macbook in a few weeks. lol - i have NO IDEA why bootcamp causes so much issues, i never would have tried what you suggested on my own - thank you so much for this :)
I can confirm that as of June 2023, this method still works. Have been trying several other methods but to no avail, this was the only method that worked best for the MacBook Pro 2012 (With the DVD Drive). Installed Windows 11 using bootable USB created via Rufus Utility. Dual-booted the machine with Mac OS Ventura (OCLP) and Windows 11. REQUIREMENTS: - 16GB or Higher Flash Drive - Windows Machine (For Bootable Drive Creation) - Patience NOTE: If you have extra drives installed on your macbook be sure to disconnect them for higher chances of success. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR WINDOWS 11 ON MACBOOK PRO 2012: 1. In Mac OS, identify which drive (SSD/HDD) you want to partition. 2. Open Disk Utility, Select "Partition" -> Click the "+" icon -> Select "Add Partition". 3. In the partition window, input desired "Name" -> Specify "Format" to "MS-DOS" -> Specify "Size" of your partition -> Click "Apply" and wait until done. 4. Now that partitioning is done, we can now proceed on creating a bootable thumbdrive using a windows machine (can also be virtualized/emulated if you dont have access to one). 5. Download the Windows 11 ".ISO" file in Microsoft's website. Also, download "RUFUS" utility that will create the bootable thumbdrive for us with the patched TPM/RAM/SecureBoot Bypass. 6. Once both files are downloaded, open and install "RUFUS". After installation, open it. 7. Open "RUFUS" -> Select "Drive" corresponding to the thumbdrive -> Locate the "ISO Image" that you've downloaded -> Set "Filesystem" to "GPT". 8. After configuring "RUFUS" -> Hit "START" -> Once clicked, a pop-up window will open -> Select the "Remove Requirement for SecureBoot and TPM" -> Hit "Next". Creation process will now start. 9. The creation of the Bootable Thumbdrive will take a few minutes so be sure to check on it from time to time to make sure there are no errors. 10. Now, once "RUFUS" is finished creating the bootable drive -> Eject the thumbdrive from the Windows PC -> Plug it into the MacBook Pro. 11. Restart the MacBook while holding the "ALT/OPTION" key. Once you are in the boot selector menu -> Select the "EFI Boot" with the Yellow USB Icon on the far right. 12. Once you are greeted with the "Windows Setup" -> Select your "Language" -> Click on "I dont have a Product Key" -> Select "Custom Installation" -> Click "Install Now". 13. Once you are in the windows where you are to select the drive you wish to install -> Select the "Drive" you have partitioned earlier with the MS-DOS format. 14. If you try to hit next on the drive, it will not work due to an error. 15. To fix this, simply "DELETE" that drive -> After deleting, it will show as "Unallocated Drive" -> Select that and Windows 11 shall now proceed with the installation. 16. Windows 11 installation will take a few minutes so be sure to check on it from time to time. 17. After installation, your machine will restart a couple of times, let it do its thing and wait until you get to the welcome screen of Windows 11. 18. Once you are in the Windows 11 Welcome Screen -> Setup everything -> Connect to the Internet using LAN Cable as WiFi will not work initially. 19. Once finished with the setup process and you are in the windows desktop screen, we can now proceed on installing necessary drivers. 20. Reboot back to Mac OS -> Download "Bombardier" and open it -> In the program menu, select "MacBook Pro 2012 (MacBook Pro 9,2)" and download the package "6.0.6136". 21. After downloading the file, it will be in ".dmg" format. Mount that file, copy all the contents inside that file and paste it into to your thumbdrive. 22. Restart your MacBook Pro back to Windows 11. Once inside windows -> Open Windows Explorer -> Locate Thumbdrive -> Open "Bootcamp.exe" -> Install bootcamp. 23. After installation has finished, select reboot. After reboot, keyboard backlight will still not work, to fix this, simply open "Apple Software Update" app and install all available updates. 24. It will prompt you to restart once drivers are installed, so restart. After the restart, everything should work fine (i.e. Keyboard Backlight, Screen Dimming, Audio, etc.). 25. Thats it, you have succesfully dual-booted your MacBook Pro 2012. Current Configuration of my old MacBook Pro 2012. - Dual Boot (OCLP Ventura and Windows 11) - Intel i5 Variant - 16 GB RAM - 500GB SSD
At #20 I don't have anything of mac os on the PC clean install of windows 11only not boot camp also how do I get the driver downloaded and all working?
I appreciate it man, thank you for uploading the video :D I couldn't find Bluetooth driver for my MacBook pro (mid 2014) and whenever I search for it, everyone used "Boot Camp" instead of real boot.
hi there i do install everything as you show on the video but i cant the sound drivers to work can you you tell me how do you have installed the sound drivers on the macbook? Windows 11 refuses to install your drivers and i got all the time This device cannot start. (Code 10) with the wrong driver
I have Windows 11 installed on my windows 2009 MacBook Pro, but there are seem features that I saw in your drivers. But, most importantly I need the mini display driver?
Hello thanks for this interesting video. I have the same Macbook but windows update doesnt find any driver as happen to you in your video. Intel hd graphics doesn't shop up. I have tried brigadier with the old Bootcamp installation designed for this hardware and windows 7 but video driver crash just after boot. I have tried to download your driver (thanks a lot) but except some exe I don't understand how to install the other drivers. Could you please drop a line where you explain? Thanks
I was able get windows 11 installed using rufus. I am still struggling getting two things to work and one is more important than the other. The first thing is there is still no audio. I tried running the executables that were a part of your package with no luck. The second and more important thing is to get windows to recognize my second monitor. I am using the Thunderbolt port with a short conversion cable to hdmi. Any ideas on how to get this working? I have searched around quite a bit and not had any luck. Thanks.
I use WintoUSB and the Bootcamp drivers to install Win11 on an external ssd for my MacBookPro, as i don't want to partition my internal drive. WintoUSB also bypasses TPM/CPU requirements.
@@Devo1987 I run Bootcamp on the Mac and it has an option to download all needed drivers. When i executed WintoUSB it has an option to define a folder with extra drivers so i pointed the folder to the Bootcamp drivers folder.
Does an external monitor work through the mini display port? I've got windows 10 on mine and was only able to get audio working through a weird egpu method. Any idea on how to get the external display working?
Would it not be better to install the windows it supports via boot camp then upgrade to a new windows version as you may be lucky and it keeps the drivers?
I have a macbook pro late 2011 and it keeps restarting just before finishing the instalation...it goes on and on diagnosing and then freezes! any solutions?!!
Hey man, it would be really cool if you could make a video installing Tiny11 on it and see how it runs, im trying to install it on my 2013 4gb macbook air but can't figure it out.
@turbo FPV, just posted a video on my channel using Tiny11, I will be creating a tutorial video soon,Just Know that it does run smooth and boots up in 8 seconds
On my MacBookPro8,1 the audio doesnt works on Windows 10. Try many many drivers without any result. Just said because I trying W11 right now. At first the macbook said that not support w11, but now, it accepted, I don't know why. Will install, test and feedback.
I'm trying to install windows 10 on a early 2011 pro. it gets to 100 installation then error THE INSTALLATION WAS CANCELLED. Windows could not update the computers boot configuration.Installation cannot proceed!!!!! any suggestions please.
For the drivers I got Bluetooth to work perfectly; but audio still doesn’t work for me I tired everything even using the drivers you recommended but it won’t let me use them… any tips?
You just need the exact right driver - one of the BootCamp Apple keyboard drivers will be the right one. Trackpad is exactly the same issue... BootCamp has the right driver but there are so many BC packs you have to research which one is exactly right for your particular computer. Also, WIN7 drivers almost always work.
yo brother great english btw and i have been watching you from years and years your the only person i come to watch tech vids and i have a question as one of the oldest subscriber would you be kind enough to make a video about how to install windows 10 on same macbook i did Monterey just like you i did every thing you did but i want windows 10 so can make a vid or maybe even type it how do i do can i do it by bootcamp or what
I'd help you one on one for donation. The method works perfectly. I like Catalina with dual boot windows 10 ltsc. I have not played around higher than Catalina with Windows dual boot yet on old gen macs.

Did you implement the bootcamp drivers directly into the Installation files? My installation crashs when trying to boot Windows 11. I assume I need to put in the drivers the drivers somehow.
Hi, could you explain more about this or redirect me to a tutorial please. I tried manually installing the imac bootcamp drivers and I haven’t had success. How would we go about using the terminal or cmd prompt?
How does it run? I'm considering if I buy an Macbook Pro 2012 just for Windows 11. Got am M1 Pro Mac and sometimes I just need Windows 11 for some usecases. Already tried Parallels Desktop e.g. but I don't like it. If Windows 11 isn't lagging that much, I would consider buying an older Macbook Pro.
@@MacintoshMen - I disagree, Macs run Windows great. It's just a bit of a process finding all the right drivers but once you have them the system is solid and fast. I do it the opposite way though - run the Bootcamp installer first then clean up with updates or a separate driver program. I've done it dozens of times with great results.
@@thomaseliason8376 I'm not saying that Windows isn't running great on Macs - it is running quite well and I know that. What I meant is that if you only plan to use Windows then it's kind of a waste to get a Mac for that (and putting up with Apple's shit like drivers etc)
@@MacintoshMen - Hell, my Mac runs Linux Q4OS off a 32 gig USB flasher. I just feel like that's the safest for internet banking & purchases these days.
It really depends if you want to do the work. I understand it is a lot cheaper to upgrade the iMac but also a M1 Mac is a lot more powerful. It's not an easy desicion.
@@MacintoshMen Ha! thanks for the reply; just ordered upgrade for the 2012; so in a little more than a week should have all the parts ready to insert. Will report back; thanks again
Would appreciate if u already have a Bluetooth driver update I just installed the Windows 11 on my Macbook Pro mid 2009 Works fine Except audio, brightness and bluetooth Not found others tho My WiFi is working fine
Hey great that win11 runs on it. I had Monterey on my macbook bro 17" late 2011 but i get no Sound on youtube and Apple TV also doesnt run. Maybe i go to windows
Don't recommend win on the 2011 17", the amd gpu will eventually fail and the intel graphics driver in windows will black out the display always on start-up
@@MacintoshMen i used rufus to make bootable stick but not booting up on mac i have also hp windows system such stick working on it but not working on mac whats the solution??
I agree . screw bootcamp. Rufus lets you bypass any and all win 11 installer restrictions while creating the usb installer , you just need to have another computer , p.c. , to create it though.
Yes Rufus is great in this regard. Bootcamp utility alwyas kinda sucked, it always tried to tell me which Windows version I had to install and how I had to install it (DVD or USB). If you just bypass it you can install it however you like. Stupid program, even when you try to install Windows Apple will still try to control you haha.
just posted a video on my channel using Tiny11, I will be creating a tutorial video soon,Just Know that it does run smooth and boots up in 8 seconds, this version has no sys req
I have an 2011 i5 iMac and tried to install Win11 using your method. Everything installs fine, I can setup user name, computer name and wifi... but then when Windows wants to load it gives me Blue Screen and restarts. Windows tries to boot and Blue Screen again. This continues endless. I assume I have to install the bootcamp drivers somehow, only I don't know how. Do you have a tutorial on that? Or any other advice or suggestion? Thanks!
On iMac it's probably a lot different in terms of drivers. I'm can't help you there, m aybe try booting it up in Safe mode and install drivers this way?
Tried as shown...: installation of W11 from a MUI stick worked like a charm, OS was booting up - found tons of windows and drivers updates... i started installing the updates and ... bricked it. :D Book boots, shows Win logo with the tiny circle, and than blank black screen with a mouse pointer. u can move the mouse and thats it.
Nice, I tried to install Windows 11 custom iso with TPM/CPU bypass and it seems to work fine. I currently run Ventura on my 2012 MBP and to be honest, I always hated bootcamp. For example on the 2019 mbp with amd gpu, I used bootcamp and I was forced to use 30 months old drivers. Later on I sold it and downgraded because of it and the shitty security chip. I'm not a fan of Windows because it's garbage but Linux has too many issues and the custom Windows ISO's that I get from a private/invite-only forum are mostly optimized with all bloatware removed (that bloatware can be restored via powershell) and if you get it from the right system modder, you can get a windows iso, without any activators, that only use 800mb-1.4gb of RAM like in the good old Windows 7 x64 days. Well, I don't know how long I'll use this MacBook that way but once I get my first pay from my home office job that I do alongside school, I'll sell this MacBook for way more that I paid for it since I have there 2 x 500gb SATA SSD's and one 1tb m.2 SATA SSD, new battery from iFixit and I upgraded it from 2gb (2x 1gb) RAM to 16gb RAM and I'll buy an 2020 Dell XPS which has the faster PCIE m.2 SSD's, amazing service manuals if you live in the EU [or use a EU VPN ;) ] and it has almost as good trackpad as the MacBook have. If you studied electronics engineering like I did, you can go to JLC PCB, design your own PCB with a voltage switching chip and a USB C port. I did that on my ThinkPad T60 and I can pre-set the chip to talk to the (Quallcom QuickCharging compatible) charger to deliver 5 - 20volt to the laptop. Sure, you'll have to do a molding for the USB C port or just cut a hole but it's worth it since nowadays everything is powered with USB C. From my fancy car coffee maker to even my little garage door opener where I installed a LiPo battery from one of those disposable e-ciggaretts that can be actually recharged if you know how to do it the proper way.
Are you satisfied with the installation of the ventura, how does the system work? I have a 2014 Mac mini with 16 GB of RAM, I'm thinking whether to install it or not.
@@Kostyaboy Ventura is running quite well, has many improvements and some apps work better after the upgrade. However, if you plan to do heavy software development then don't wonder if the "wakeup lock" command doesn't work most of the time and the device goes into sleep mode. It's a bug that will probably be fixed with the next Ventura patch
i installed ventura on my mbp late 2011 and it works well until i installed the latest patcher then it goes to sleep mode...my advice is if its work well then dont update the patcher..hehehe and now i cant use my mbp and that is why i am going to install windows 11 instead.@@Kostyaboy
@@MacintoshMen Me too. I installed it on HDD and it wasnt usable at all. Then I did raid 0 with 2 7200rpm hard drives but it was still pretty slow. Not on macbook but with first gen i7-930 CPU. SSD and 8GB+ ram is a must.
@@LolJolk - There are programs to disable the telemetry and bloatware. WIN11 can run just fine on any Mac past about a 2.4 gig C2D, trust me. Although 8GB RAM is about right, any less and it will lag.
@@LolJolk - Weird. It runs great on my Mac Pro... maybe a *bit* slower to boot than 10, but seems every bit as snappy to use. Are you running it inside a VM like parallels ?
I installed Chrome OS Flex on my 2011 IMAC which I had upgraded with 16GB of RAM (for cheap) and a Samsung SSD. Chrome OS Flex turned my old iMAC into a powerful Chromebook with unlimited OS and security updates for the future. I think I will be able to get at least 5 to 10 more years of life out of it. It was an easy OS installation. See this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZvrY6uDclSM.html
I did all of this got everything to work only the sound drivers not working i added them to device manager but when i added them it says 'intcdaud.inf: Successfully added oem10.inf and installed on 0 device(s)' and i cant find the drivers under sound, video and game controller only my bluetooth speaker. But if i change the view to Drivers by type i can see it only.
