Windows LTSC | The Best Version of Windows 10 

Running LTSC for one Year now, playing games from steam and uplay without any issues. Light PowerShell usage - had no problem. Virtual machines with VirtualBox - had no Problem. This is the successor to Windows 7 for me.

Amazingly, this LTSC version saved my Warzone performance. I've been struggling with low FPS issues playing Warzone for a long time now. Today, I decided to give it a go and MAN, it is smooth. I was using Ghost Spectre's Superlite version before trying this. Now, i'm using Windows 10 LTSC (1809) from 2018. It is the best Windows i've ever used, period.

There are some things that I noticed after using both W10 Pro 22H2, Home 22H2 and Enterprise LTSC 21H2 for a couple of years was that the Pro and Home version both became sluggish after about a month of usage, but the same principles did not apply to the LTSC version. The smoothness is quite similar across all versions, though. The responsiveness, however, is much MUCH better in the LTSC version. Plus, the low resource consumption and the simplicity of it massively improved the overall experience, both in gaming and in casual use like watching RU-vid and do office works. Moreover, no bloatware included! Nice!

I used to have Windows 10 Home. I have now installed Windows 10 LTSC. PC became faster and more productive. I'm happy with.

Thank you for introducing this lovely version of OS to me. Been using this lightweight and fast windows 10 version since last year. I haven't faced a single bit of problem yet, even though as a professional graphic designer photoshop, illustrator, indesign, after effects and blender are always kept running. I cannot believe why people are still using windows pro when this thing exists. It took a long time to quit windows 7 (It will always be my favorite OS) as i couldn't find similar but updated alternative OS. Windows 10 LTSC is my second the most favorite operating system.

If you want to to keep a computer running that can't upgrade to 11 after extended support ends for regular 10 versions and you don't want to try Linux. This would be your best option then.

ltsc should be the base window version that ships with consumer laptops imo, who even want a bunch of mobile game pre installed anyway

I use ltsc for everyday usage and i love it. I am not a gamer but i use it for office...it is incredible fast and all my drivers work flowless. I had before windows 10 pro and the updates just ruin my life...bad updates broke my pc several times and sometimes just remaines stuck. Now i am happy and i recomand it. I bought a license code from ebay...just 5 $

You should make a video on how to setup a good Windows 10 LTSC install, maybe after the new 2021 version gets released later this year.

A lot of people don't know what ltsc is so maybe a good explainer. It's like centos, older stable packages, really long support. Does not have feature updates. Etc. Maybe a good visual graph would be good.

We use LTSC for machines configured as an "appliance." For example, an automation system that runs only a single program 24/7. We don't need (or want) new features.

This pirate scare is really BS, you can get a original pro image from MSFT and than use some small tools to convert it to Volume/KMS and activate it. if you do or you don't is between you and your sense of morality. Just know that if you do, then get the original images form MSFT and don't go searching the pirate bay for "pre activated" images, why take the risk if you can get the ISO's from the original source.

Like you said Chris this is what Windows-10 should been as the normal paid version. Then have a FREE VERSION with the adverts/adware like you have in normal Windows-10 at the moment, this could be used for gaming and people who just like shopping :-)

About drivers, it's the first thing I always completely disable, having drivers installed from Microsoft update, as they're usually outdated, buggy and problematic. I remember getting a Nvidia driver shoved onto my system once constantly and when rebooting the screen wouldn't show. Removed it in safe mode, booted back in normal mode and guess what...the same driver was installed again, reboot no screen, Microsoft recommending and pushing drivers? No thanks!

The only appealing thing about Windows Enterprise LTSC is it's end of life for support, which is 2035. If they don't extend Windows 10 support, than a lot of people are going to try and move onto LTSC.

My university uses LTSC Windows and I think it's much better than the standard Windows 10. But Linux is Linux and it's not worth it for me to switch to LTSC.

FYI you don't actually need to pirate LTSC Windows if you want to use it for free. Microsoft offers evaluation ISOs from their website. These can then be changed to a non-evaluation version, and there are plenty of ways to "activate" that without actually changing anything on the Windows installation itself. Like, you can run a KMS server on a separate computer. Whether the KMS server is legitimate, or an emulator, that's up to your conscience, but it's definitely an option.

The timing of this video is great. Lately I've been thinking about checking out the LTSC further. I didn't realize the licensing was such a headache. I thought I could just buy a key and go like Pro and Home. I also didn't think about the trouble LTSC would have with new hardware, but that makes a lot of sense.

It would be great to make a video that takes windows home or pro and rips out everything except what's in enterprise 10 ltsc. Building a custom install iso.

I feel so bad for windows developers that I, an avid linux user who hates windows, used an extra laptop that I have laying around to throw windows 10 on it and joined the insider "fast" program to help them test their shit and give them feedback. 😂 They need to go back to windows 7's source code and start from there. Windows 10 has been a disaster for them.

I tried PRO and LTSC. I prefer with LTSC for the cleaner look. I have SSD and the performance it's exactly the same on both but LTSC consumes about 500 MB less RAM and 5 GB less HDD because it doesn't have Cortana, Edge, Store, and all that extra crap. I don't use any of that shit and I don't want to be bother with buggy updates so this OS it's just fine for me. :)

I don't install or upgrade OSs for fun, it's actually quite a headache for me just to keep my 2 home computers set up the way I want and running different Windows for the different usages I give it: general usage, productivity, gaming, one just for Flight Simulator, one just for tinkering with music production . In fact, I used Windows XP until 2015 because it still did most of the stuff I wanted it to do without me having to go through the trouble of upgrading everything to run on Windows 7. I've been using Windows 7 ever since but now I feel I'll be forced to upgrade everything again to run on Windows 10, especially for things that will make full usage of DirectX12 Ultimate components and also considering that some stuff is no longer supported or runs very poorly on Win7 if at all... so next year is probably the time to dive deep into Win10, hence the curiosity about all the Windows 10 versions and what LTSC was really like.

For someone who does everything possible to avoid Cortana, M$ store and all the other crap, this is a gods gift to humanity. (Better still, is to avoid Windows altogether and go with a Linux distribution... unless one has locked oneself in with M$ Windows-only software... then... good luck! )

nowadays pirated OS doesn't exists anymore, just patches/cracks, there's very less little chance you get backdoors with cracks, other than the backdoors that are installed into windows by Microsoft

I wouldn't mind the LTSC branch but I doubt it'd work out for me from a financial perspective. Had to reset Win10Pro hours ago because it kept crashing on me when playing games or even going to the login screen. Didn't expect 1903 to be that painfun 😢

Well, there are questions... Not much actual data on how much RAM does this version of windows uses, what services are running? What is in a task scheduler by default? Beside obviously cleaner UI, it is unclear how much this windows actually lighter than regular. The internet connection can also be used to benchmark this, sometimes win-10 starts much longer when there is no internet connection. Probably it is trying to reach MS servers and delays the process.

My laptop is almost 10 years old. It runs great on windows 10 ltsc. Not so well on Windows 10 pro with all the bloatware.

I just go into command prompt and activate whatever version of windows I want for free. Yes, free licenses without being "pirated" and without virus or worms.

The Just A Moment thing that comes up in between options, really makes me crazy. Its like an indicator that a crappy update is on its way, and one needs to wait for it to do its thing. Its scary.

Microsoft is just messing up the meaning of words , because LTSC is what actually PRO should be. Because for them PRO means throw as much garbage and obsolete features as you can in the OS and name them "features". One "problem" you mentioned for the hardware support or said otherwise OS integrated drivers is not a problem , because in the moment I plug the internet cable it`s downloading them trough Windows update. For me that is actually good , because it`s going to install only the once I need. As a gamer I don`t have any problems with any of my games. All of them are running much better than with the cluttered Pro version.

From a business perspective, this version makes complete sense. Those who simply can't afford the downtime of Windows 10 updates, with its unpredictable glitches and would probably like their staff to do some work rather than play silly games. From the watch every penny home user, it's very pricey! Putting on my pirate's hat for a moment, I suspect it would be possible to run some version of Linux with Virtualbox, then install this evaluation version of Windows 10 in Virtualbox and take a snapshot. Every 90 days roll back to the snapshot.

lol at your comment about Windows licensing being complicated. You don't even remotely have a clue how deep that rabbit hole is. Basic Windows volume licensing is an absolute no brainer piece of cake. I was a Microsoft Licensing Specialist for about 10 years (across both perpetual and non perpetual licensing, and every channel), you have barely seen the tip of the iceberg. Wait until you get to some scenarios where it was impossible to license Windows legally through any channel. Take what you think you know as complicated and times that by 100 and you might start to understand what it is like to fully understand Microsoft Licensing. As for your question does Microsoft do it deliberately the answer to that is an unequivocal no. The structure of the organization is what makes it complicated. You have individual product program managers that own full responsibility for and guide the direction of the specific products, and the numerous marketing and technical specialist that sit between them and the licensing group is why you wind up with half assed and poorly thought out licensing rules. Like you mentioned Windows under volume licensing is an upgrade only license and has been for as long as I can remember (back before the turn of the millennium). You can't just upgrade from any OEM base operating system and most people don't know but that volume license that you purchase can't just be moved to another PC, unless you have some kind of active Software Assurance on it. Even then there are certain conditions where that might be still not be possible. Then there is a whole moving the operating system around inside of virtual environments, and how many instances you can have running and on how many cores. Feel blessed in your ignorance, for that shit will haunt me till the end of my days.

Thank you for making this video. 👍 We use Windows 10 Pro on our office PC's as well as some POS machines...Linux is not an option as the programs are made for Windows but Home and Pro editions are full of junk some updates break stuff. Got few of the POS machines pre-installed with Windows 10 LTSC and runs so smooth and fast even on low spec systems. It is the best solution for anyone looking for fast, bloat free Windows.

the funny thing is if MS allowed an easy acquiring of this LTSC version I might not have jumped over to linux. but now I'm using POP_OS with WIN10 in a VM on top and that's it I'm done. However, using LTSC for vm use might be interesting since I am committed to never letting windows touch the bare metal of any new install I do for myself.

It is possible to install the store if you go into developer mode. I needed some themes. I am enjoying ltsc as my second OS. Some games just need windows. I get tired of fixing games when a Proton update comes along and something breaks. Linux is great for most games but like I said there are a few that just need more attention. I would rather just have it in a VM for games instead of dual booting but I have never been able to successfully play certain games consistently in a VM.

I think there are ways in the newer versions of LTSC to add the microsoft store and thus the dependencies to play xbox gamepass games

LTSC is the best version of Windows 10, I have been using it a couple weeks, the only downside is doesn't support Windows Terminal.

You're talking about pre-cracked or pre-activated OSs....that is not the only way to "pirate" Windows, and in-fact it is the worst way. The ISO you install is the same untouched ISO from MS that you install, it's just the activation process that differs, that's all. There is no backdooring involved in that.

you can actually just get a clean iso and modify it yourself so that you wont *need* to pirate it. oh and in case you need the store you can just add it later.

I have win 10 LTSB. ( Probably really LTSC now after the updates.) I'd never use the Microsoft Store for games but can confirm that my games run perfectly well on it. Most of my games are on Steam and there are no issues whatsoever. I am still cautious about spying and data collection , maybe without cause now, but having previously had Win 10 pro it has made me a little paranoid i suppose. Having said all that though, Win 10 LTSB is still only used for pure gaming. I have no email on it and only have a browser to access mods for my games. Literally everything else I do on a PC is done on Linux. I obtained the LTSB iso directly from Microsoft and activated it with Microsoft Toolkit. I was amazed it activated but it did. The best of both worlds. I paid for the pro version at the time so don't feel the slightest bit shady about using the Toolkit. LTSB(C) is the version we ALL should have been given access to at the outset.

Is it possible to use this as a gaming station, all I need to install this TeamSpeak and Steam it would not do anything else. I have a secondary machine that I use as my daily driver and it would even get the TeamSpeak and steam installer along with any drivers if necessary. " I would like to see how many processes run after install " The first release of Windows 10 that I got only ran 64 processes, now I can't get it under a 120+ no matter what I do.

If anyone needs Microsoft Store and other stuff it can be installed on this OS after install. Latest version of Microsoft Office will not run it though. You would have to use Office 2019 if you needed Office.

LTSC Is the LTS Windows with a minimal interface focused on security and stability. You will get bug fixes and security updates but no new features. If you miss them, stay on stock Windows. You can buy a ten PC volume licence, which works well for most people. It can be installed on all your home and work PCs. No muss, no fuss. Probably the best version of Windows 10 most people don’t know about.
