instruments sound too "soft" stock Windows Wavetable Synth (SC-55 generic clone) is the one that sounds the best to me you can use scc1t2 soundfont for that classic Win98 sound (the file is 3.1 Megabytes in size)

WOAH I can't believe how similar my Yamaha Portatone 280 sounded like this device!! Ugh, Onestop....some of the midi's where just full of atmosphere...it sucked so much when Vista and Win 7 turned out not to have drivers for my SoundBlaster 5.1 Live! Digital (Which I used to play back midi's to the keyboard).
