So we have the T mobile home internet router that kind of looks like half a two liter bottle. I opened it, printed a new casing to it and attached external antennas to it, but now seeing your video I see it is possible to just wire it to my winegard in the camper. I appreciate it. You learn new stuff everyday full timing
@@VenturesomeCouple it is awesome. Everyone in our current area of Florida is jealous because a lot of internet providers are out. We run easily 15ish devices on it and never had issues. Been to a few different states on contracts and never had an issue. We have Metro PCS for cell service which works off t mobile and never had an issue. It is better than the go connect RV internet we were using and cheaper
Thank you for this!! We had the Wineguard Air 360 installed last year and have yet to figure out how we can use it without paying an arm and a leg. We are only weekend warriors (and summer travelers) but the internet is a must since my husband and I work remote. I'm going to see if we can do what you did here and get us situated. Great content and to the point. Also love that you added a blooper at the end, made me laugh.
Thank you for watching our video. We do have a newer video with 4 other options of internet that we pay for. Chris is still working remote & we need good reliable internet 🛜 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ufjNLzqGJMI.html
Love the video - I had bought the wifiranger for the Air 360+ and after only 1 trip and about 20+ resets it had to go. Still researching on what to go with next.
Thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. Our Winegard was crappy. We ended up selling it to a couple who only needed to do email. At this point you can get a project Genesis 5G and T-Mobile for business or the house for really cheap and they are much faster than the 4G LTE Winegard.
Good info - our internet solution was definitely a progression as well. As many options that exist, everyone’s needs can be so different. It’s nice to learn what works for others!
Hi Chris. I've watched with interest your video here. We have the air 360+ and have t mobile home, we've been trying to see the parts from air 360+ you have going out so we might purchase those to get a start to what we might need to get to external antenna ports on our ARCADYAN TMO-G4AR 5G GATEWAY from t mobile. We went to your purchase link and know not all those parts would work with our unit. TIA
Thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. Unfortunately the Winegard Air 360+ is a 4G antenna and will not help you with a 5G router. You would actually end up with poorer performance using it. We would recommend a mobilemusthave.com/collections/antennas-accessories/products/parsec-akita-4x4-mimo-omni-directional-pole-mountable-antenna for a better 5G antenna.
Great video. We have a wifi ranger Osprey. Supposed to be the same connections as the gateway. Do you have any idea where I could find another power cord / adapter plug in for the unit? Mine was not in the box
Thank you for watching our video. I’m sorry we don’t know where to find another plug for your wifi ranger Osprey, I would reach out to the manufacturer for one.
Great info! Curious, what if you want to have an LAN? We have a new Solitude with the 360+ so all we would need is the gateway but if I understand it correctly the gateway is not also a LAN device. Not sure what to do. TIA!
Hey David we ended up using a Pepwave Cat 12 Max Transit Duo. We bought our system from TechnoRV in Alabama. We are not affiliated with them but they were definitely worth the recommendation.
@@VenturesomeCouple got my equipment coming today and going to hook it up with my home t mobile internet I've heard they are cracking down but we will see. I asked my wife years ago what the plate was in the ceiling I never knew
We switched our T-Mobile to the business plan and it is completely movable for “Job sites” and is still $50 a month. That might be an option if they do crack down more.
@@VenturesomeCouple sweetnthankssssss🙌 we live in NC and planned to do some mountain traveling but it on hold prays for NC mountains thxs again Godspeed
Hey Justin, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. Here is the link to the internet adapters we used. This is our Amazon page so we do earn a small commission on the purchase although the price is the same for you. www.amazon.com/shop/venturesomecouple/list/2IBMAD1A2QZXI?ref_=cm_sw_r_mwn_aipsflist_aipsfventuresomecouple_MSJY0V8KKFKTFQ5C5CHR
Thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. The links to the adapters is below the description on the RU-vid video at the time of filming this video Winegard E360+ was limited to 4G LTE connections. Most routers at this point are 5G technology and would not utilize the same cellular bands. Our opinion is that you would be better off getting a standalone Internet from T-Mobile, Starlink, or any other cell based carrier.
Great video. What is the name of the wire type coming from the antennas on the winegard? Do you know if they make an adapter to usb? I have alfa camp fi pro and i read a bunch of bad reviews on the gateway for the winegard so was wondering if i could utilize the wine gard antenna i now have in place of the antenna that came with alfa camp fi.
Thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. We have the links and wire types in the description of the video (The writing below). Have your phone vertical and open the writing below. Or you can access from a computer. As for the question, I am not sure about USB but I would assume the answer is yes with the proper adapter. I also think the gateway is not good and definitely not worth the money.
When you say the red is for WI-FI what do you mean. I was told that was for the cellular antenna to broadcast out your signal. What am I loosing without hooking up the red connector?
Hey Eric, Sorry for the delay, I have been searching for my Winegard manual. I didn’t want to steer you in the wrong direction. Red is the wifi as outlined below. Step 13 - Next, connect the WiFi cable with the red tubing to the mating connector that is designated in the #2 slot. Step 14 - Connect the 4G LTE cables with their respective mating connectors (Yellow - #4 slot and Green - #5 slot). SIM Card Slot Thank you for watching our videos and supporting our channel.
Thanks for great video. I connected my netgear router to the wineguard antenna and I see a marginal improvement. Now my Q is whether we need a power source as the antenna needs amplifier to work. I was unable to retrieve the 12 volt wire -- somewhere in the roof top - i can find it if necessary but your video does not suggest a power source. There is a coaxial power on/off switch on the wall for my TV. I could power that off but i suspect this is principally for the TV signal antenna and not for the gateway. Any suggestions? Bottom line - do i need a power source to gain signal boost? MY wineguard came installed with my coachmean apex nano.
Good morning J-F LaRue, my Air 360+ did have a power source that was routed with the installation. I do not know if the antenna needed the power or that was just a convenience for the gateway hub to have an available connection. Most likely that antenna does not need power; which is the case for my external antennas for my pepwave. Thank you for watching my video and supporting our channel.
Thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. You can put a cellular Sim card directly into the gateway and utilize the Air360+. The only difference is that Wingard offers plans specifically for their gateway. It has been a few years since we use this technology so they may have changed their processes.
I have the Air 360 antenna and was going to get the gateway but I have my camper on my rural property in Florida and only get 1 bar of cell signal if any. Will the gateway boost my cell signal as well? And I believe I can add a sim card to have direct access to T Mobile as well so I don't have to use a hot spot, correct? Thanks!
Hey James, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. The Winegard will not boost your signal it may provide better line of sight to the cell tower being on the roof of the rv. With that in mind I do not like the gateway and feel your money could be spent elsewhere with a better result. The gateway is extremely old technology and has limited frequency bands to communicate with the tower. A modern hotspot that offers a network cable output would allow you to mount it in a window and get the best signal and you could plug it into a laptop or use the wifi. If your looking for a true cellular booster; look at WeBoost on Amazon. Those boost signals and will help in limited signal situations. You may be best suited to go with Starlink for your “Residence” if you have your trailer stay in one location. By not moving you save money on the monthly subscription.
@@VenturesomeCouple Thanks for the info but I really didn't mean boost, I should have said "receive" and stronger signal. I get one bar if that at my lake property and their is no house, just a camper. So my real questions is, when you hooked up the Winegard gateway, did you receive a stronger signal than on your cell phone? Also what is the PepLink router that you got and do you use the Air 360+ plus with that as well or do you have another antenna. I installed a WeBoost and it did nothing, not really good unless you have more than one bar of signal I found. Thanks!
Thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. The SIM card goes into the hotspot or router that is attached to the cables going into the antenna.
Hey Dustin, thanks for watching our video. We have AT&T and Verizon and I would switch out the cards depending on which carrier had better service in the area. We were getting between 3-9 Mbps download on average with either carrier using the Gateway.
@@VenturesomeCouple after watching your video and a couple of others, I decided to cancel my order on Amazon for the gateway and go with the Mobile Must Have ‘Full-Timer’ set up. The gateway looked to be on back order anyway.
3 to 9 mbps with a data plan ? That's terribly slow... I just ourched the 30p gateway as my cell reception is bad and have no internet.. I will have to look into this hotspot by att I know vzw has the jet pack. I assume they are better than our phones since they are dedicated and designed for one task
Newb Question.. Don't laugh (ok do) . I have an AIR 360+ and going to get the "Winegard Gateway". How do i go about getting service once all installed ? I am a T-Mobile customer. Thanks.
Hey Billy6807, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. You will need to get a “Sim” card from T-mobile for internet. The easiest way is to bring in the actual gateway before you install it on the ceiling. T-mobile will need the “IMEI” off of the gateway to set up the internet portion of your account.
Hey on mountain time, unfortunately we are hearing that frequently. We are not fans of the gateway and have found that the T-Mobile $50 internet (Not sponsored) is our primary platform. When there is reception it cannot be beat.
Hi! I've got a question. When you did the "antenna hack" with the Air 360+, I am wondering if the hack was to boost your AT&T signal or if it was to boost a campground wifi signal. I'm trying to find a solution to boost campground wifi signals inside my camper because we can have fantastic wifi outside, but when we go in it gets severely bogged down. I'm thinking that I could possibly wire the Air 360+ up to the antennas of a normal house router and set to bridge mode or something along the lines. I just don't want to spend hundreds of dollars for the gateway because we do not need the cellular capability.
Good morning Paul, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. The hack was to improve our cellular network strength. The hard part of the Air 360+ is the older 4G technology. I didn’t play with the wifi side of the antenna. I am not a fan of the Gateway and would not buy one due to the limitations of 4G. I haven’t used one but the Wifi Ranger seems to be highly rated on Amazon for a fraction of a price.
@@VenturesomeCouple The wifi ranger is a fraction of the price? It's $400. Please send me the link to what you're referring to, I don't believe we're talking about the same thing.
Hey Paul, take a look at this article (We are not affiliated with them). They have a lot of options for boosting just the wifi signal. www.smartrving.net/best-wifi-boosters-for-rv/
@@VenturesomeCouple would you happen to know what adapter you used, or have an Amazon link to it, to plug into the existing winegard wires? I ordered a TS9 male but the outer diameter doesn't fit.
sorry we missed the message, all of the links are on our Amazon page (VenturesomeCouple). We also have them linked in the description of the RU-vid video. My recommendation at this point is if you have a 5g hotspot you would be better off not using the Winegard antenna; it doe not have the proper bands to handle the newer cell technology. We use a T-Mobile business tower for $50 a month and it is amazingly reliable. We do not even have an external antenna on our trailer right now.
Hey Mind Ya Buisness, it depends on which cell phone carrier you have. Right now we have a T-Mobile SIM card and they charge $50 for 100GB of data monthly. We no longer have the gateway and use a mifi
@@VenturesomeCouple Yea I have Verizon mifi with 150gb but was looking for some way to unlimited. So I called winegard and they basically said that the antenna acts as a booster for live tv channels, and if I get the router ill still be maxed at 150gb with Verizon but the antenna will have much better reception in areas with bad service. I wish they had a 250gb plan. I’d easily pay for that
Hey Lip Rippin with Mo, Thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. The gateway does work well for 4G and your spot on that 5G is really fast in comparison. Technology moves too fast for us to keep up; well at least our budget 😉
Our winegard gateway is awful. We’re lucky if the winegard stays visible for 3 minutes. Constantly have to reset. What a piece of poop. We may have to try your hack.
Hey Wheels up RN, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. Our Winegard was crappy also. We ended up selling it to a couple whom only needed to do email. At this point you can get a project Genesis 5G and T-Mobile for business or the house for really cheap and they are much faster than the 4G LTE Winegard.
We dumped all the above since the technology is outdated. We use 5G routers now and gave the gateway to our friends. Unfortunately we wasted money trying to find a solution that ultimately disappointed us. Thank you for watching our video.
