Today we will be talking about how any kind of counters should be handled the same way as primary techniques. Always stay on center and remember the principle of Lat Sau Chik Jung (forward pressure).

Chris needs a vacation but I appreciate the help so much, cause it's not easy to let a master demonstrate without getting hurt.

Mr.Chang, thank you for this very practical actual "Real World" approach to Wing Chun. The few schools I attended spent too much time in "Theory" and obedience to traditions and formality and not practical application which is what it's for. Which you very skillfully demonstrated in this video. Good stuff.

Bounces off the opponent's pressure to avoid falling into force - force, or breaking the movement sequence and freezing. Excellent video, thank you...👍👍👍

I like that your videos focus on theory rather than just showing sequences of moves. If you don't already have a video on it, I'd like to see how you drill to translate techniques into principles. Props to Chris as always, sacrificing his body for the art.

I'm a beginner, novice practioner of Ip Man's Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu. Every video I have seen of yours is exceptional and I really appreciate you breaking down what you're saying in short videos for like each movement, whether a block, strike, or counter. Chi Sau and the Mook Jong are phenomenal for feeling and NOT thinking, also the ratan rings, NOT the weighted rings, but the ratan rings with various sizes for Kwan Sau. I love Ip Man's Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu and Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. Too many don't understand that the foundation of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do is Ip Man's Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu. I have gone so far to say and think that they should be learned and studied TOGETHER because they flow together. My Sifu, Dewie Perry, Sifu Kwok Chun Kan told me to get the foundation and learn Ip Man's Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu first, then go on to Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. The philosophy of BOTH are the same. Don't think. Feel. If or when you think what move to do next, your enemy and / or opponent has already landed several other strikes on you. Let it flow smoothly, like water. Bruce Lee said, "Don't think! FEEL!" "Be formless, shapeless, like water. You pour water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. Pour water into a cup, it becomes the cup. Pour water into a tea pot, it becomes the tea pot. Water can flow, or it can crash. Be water, my friend!" Bruce Lee REMEMBER, Bruce Lee trained under Sifu Ip Man for several years before Bruce moved to the US and developed his own style, Jeet Kune Do, which is mixed martial arts. Bruce Lee is the founding father of Jeet Kune Do, mixed martial arts. Jeet Kune Do, MMA, and UFC wouldn't exist had it not been for Ip Man training Bruce Lee and Bruce Lee incorporating the BEST of what he thought were the BEST movements from several different styles, ALWAYS adding and taking away from as necessary and needed for any given situation. That is Jeet Kune Do, the foundation of it being Ip Man's Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu. To be the most complete fighter and / or martial artist that one can be, it's NOT enough to merely know how to do the moves. Know and learn the history and reason behind each movement, the how, what, and why. When you understand these things, it puts one on a whole other level. I'm referring to students learning these arts or any other art, and remember, it's a lifestyle, to be learned, lived, and studied every day, growing at your own pace, mastering one's body, mind, and self. These are the philosophies and principles behind Ip Man, Ip Man's Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu, Bruce Lee, and Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. "FEEL! Be water! When one contracts, I expand. When one expands, I contract. When I hit, I do NOT hit. It hits all by itself." Bruce Lee

Jackie Chan said to Jaden Smith in The Karate Kid reboot which should've been called The Kung Fu Kid, "EVERYTHING is Kung Fu. The simplest, smallest movements, putting on a jacket, taking it off, hanging it up, getting into or out of bed, getting dressed or undressed, doing simple chores like dishes, laundry, sweeping, opening and closing doors, it's ALL Kung Fu." Often times MOST don't even know that they're doing it.

If you can hit somebody hard enough, you can easily follow with other hits without him beeing able to counter. If you think I'm telling stupidities, just watch any pro Boxing, Muay Thai or MMA tournament and you'll see many combos with the reciever beeing unable to counter nor evade the attacks.

@Adam Chan - I’m very curious to know if you had ever studied and practiced “Shuai Jiao” before? And, what's your opinion on the ancient Martial Art, if you had studied and practiced it before?
