there is a lot smack that could be said about Winger, but I must admit your comment is spot on. Gotta give the devil his due (cant believe I just said that about Winger)
He Needs To Get W/ Other Groups of His Time to Do Multiple Grp.Concerts,Like Def Leppard & Motley Crue Are Coming Here to Atl.in Mid August @ Atl.Braves Stadium !!!People Will Pay to See Multiple Grps.@ Bigger Venues!!!
I'm here because I learned one of my favorite songs/instrumentals by The Diplomats called Ground Zero was Sampled from headed for a heart break which is a great song that i purchased on Apple music so now I have some rock and roll on my ipod😊 Here is ground zero ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jCnoUu61xtw.htmlsi=j6lYdFiXoyjCsFW8
That is such awesomeness!! I'm a 65 yr old Native American lady and has always been a gigantic fan of the hairbands of the late 70's and all 80's. But I love a variety of music, from R&B, Soul, country, Jazz, and so on. True music lover!! Still rockin today 🤘💋💯♥️
The talent in Winger was insanely phenomenal, and Kip, not just a superb vocalist but also mesmerizingly handsome. Damn, I miss the 80's so much. Just taking a walk down memory lane tonight. If you lived it, then you understand.
This live mix is so damn good, the balance, reverb, mix is all perfect, I think that's rare in today 's live show. the engineer nailed it. Band is perfect. Sent chills.
Duuuude the vocal intonation / harmonies / FOH & monitor mix / rehearsal prep (?) & whole band just CRUSHING it to a live tv audience …just insane. WTF. no one does this in 2023.
Kip's bass tone was on point. Probably one of the best "late nite talk show" mix in history. I P.S. This was before auto-tune, so you actually had to sing your nutz off to nail the landing.
i don t know ,if you realize, that this song is not only a rock ballad, like many others....this is pure Bliss, the dynamics, the melodies, the vocals and solo, everything here is unique and beautiful
I'm 55 years old and grew up on The Beatles, Cream, The Who etc and I don't care what anybody say's, but this song is unreal. The singing, the emotion and the guitar... it's all there... say what you want about hair bands; this is not a hair song... it's a great song.
+Mark Lecuona I'm a few years older than you. I thought 80s music mostly sucked. This song is a huge exception. The musicianship/harmonies are fantastic!
Kip Winger is one of the most talented musicians rock has ever seen. Juliard Grad, incredible singer & songwriter, the looks, the presence. Guy has it all.
Songwriting and orchestration. He has a Master's in Music Composition and Orchestration from Juliard (only the best are accepted to Juliard). He composes classical scores as well. His classical scores have been played at Lincoln Center and various ballets nationally. He's written songs for other rock acts. If knowledge is power, and because of his classical background, he's got it in spades. Multi-talented musician. Oh..and he is a very solid bass player. Give the guy credit....
@@Bridging_the_Political_Divide where did you get this info? Kip has done several interviews about his musical study. He has stated that he is a HS dropout and didn't start to study classical music until much later in life. He has studied classical with several greats in New Mexico and NY, and did audit some courses, but never officially attended school for it. He is more of a musical autodidact and not a graduate of any music program.
Arsenio was so diverse he never catered to one particular audience, One night he might be interviewing Don King with Radiohead performing the next night he would have Jack Nicholson with Public Enemy performing. He was very groundbreaking and for 1 hour every night he would unite all cultures
I hate how people forget the popularity of the Arsenio Show --- he was kickin' Carson's ass in the ratings and that is not easy to do! It was an innovative show.
I saw him live in 1994, he was SEXY and sounded amazing! Nothing fake about him or his performance! They don't make good music like we had in the better days!
Winger is probably, maybe the most underrated Hair Band! Saw them twice in concert, in 89 opening up for Cinderella and the 2nd time, opening for Kiss in 1990... Both shows were flawless and never missed a beat.... Winger is a Supergroup with top notch musicians, I highly recommend seeing them this year as they are currently touring the USA this summer!!!
This band is pure talent... wow. They weren’t the typical pop hair band, they were all real musicians that knew what they were doing, this song is a composition, and has so much progressive elements
A lot of those hair bands were super talented. Winger, Ratt, Skid Row, Whitesnake, Warrant, White Lion, all top tier musicians and songwriters. A shame that people only remember the likes of Poison who were hacks and Motley Crue who were kind of mid.
They are STILL phenomenal, as evidenced by their 2022 shows. And as others have pointed out, REAL talent, from vocals to instruments. Far too many of today's youth are surrounded by autotuning, rappers that barely do more than form words, and fake percussion. THIS is music.
This is an amazing LIVE PERFORMANCE....no lip sync, no pitch correction, no backing tracks....simply pure live playing chops...by all parties.... You never see this EVER now.......just Goog Winger Live and see amazing real, live playing and singing...
Awesome, I remember being 15 watching this live. Arsenio deserves tons of credit. He wasn't choosy of his acts. It may be hard rock, or jazz or rap..then switch to r&b His show truly was the greatest all around!
I respect Kip so much. He could have just coasted by on his looks but he is a real music nerd, always worked on his craft, he even learned how to become a composer.
I remember somewhere along the line in the 90s, people started "dissing" winger kind of like they "dissed" The BeeGees back in the early eighties. In both cases, the bands were great musicians crafting great music (albeit different kinds of music). In both cases, the bands had the last laugh. The BeeGees went on to do tons of hit music behind the scenes for other artists and Winger is still around... and seems to be more appreciated now. This video is great evidence of just how good the band was. Makes most new music sound like nursery rhyme bullshit.
Im reading blasphemy over here. BeeGees arent musicians? Wow, havent heard the vocal harmonies, the exceptional songwriting??? Go check out some Midnight Special videos of Bee Gees and tell me they werent masters of their craft
@@dlowe4481 What nonsense is that? They played all the instruments on the majority of their albums, with a few session musicians helping out here or their, and they wrote and produced all of the music!
I was ten years old when Winger's self titled debut album came out and loved it big time. I got the cassette after Headed For A Heartbreak came out. It is still one of the greatest debut albums I have ever listened to. Winger never deserved the backlash they got in the early to mid 90's. Their album Pull should have been huge. It is a MASTERPIECE!
This is *pure* gold! Kip sings like the devil here, and the vocal harmonies...just WOW!!! Four musicians who can really play and sing, and kudos to Reb, who came from outer space to spend some time with his friends!
Ahhhh, Kip Winger. What a voice, wowzer! You can feel the passion he is feeling in the lyrics from the way he is singing his heart out. The vocals, the instrumentals and harmonizing working in tandem makes this song great and timeless. And Kip Winger singing lead vocals, is nothing short of sheer perfection.
Winger guys as a band can't get any better. They actually outplay there own music when they play it live. Reb couldn't miss a note if he wanted to. He always sticks to the script/ solo on the record , but live it just sounds so crisp and clean enough to make your speakers beg for mercy. .
Excellent era for hair metal ballads.. fantastic musicians that were a part of this and that came from this, we the many, who were inspired/motivated by so many of them,...
Even the bands that were in the shadows of bigger names and didn't get the recognition they deserved, still sound better than anything going around today. Makes me sad, it highlights the lost art of songwriting.
I love this song, and I love slow rock in general, like 'Is this love,' from Whitesnake. I always liked Winger, and he is amazing live, especially when he could've lip synched. Thanks for the upload, they played and sang the hell out of this song!!!
This group is proof that there is a God,the fire, wind, water, and earth of music.I love this group they truely have not gotten the musical akeleides, and honor they deserve,What come from the heart reaches the heart ,and, beautiful, pure, great, and abundant things always gravitate towards me hence this band and their music,I'm no groupy or no idolaters but I must give credit where it's do.Truly amazing.Checkout winger spell i'm under ,can't take it back ,love me Like a ritual. All people are spirit being in a natural experience with the exception of the chosen ones, but a few really tap into the depth of the soul. This band did,and Kip is just I don't even have .Landslide.
damn... i had to come back to listen to this great song and band again... its such a compelling display of song crafting, musicianship and....performed LIVE... no bullshit lyp sync nonsense!
I was never a big '80s hair metal fan in any way shape or form I'm a metal, thrash, hardcore, metalcore, death core, but upon listening to this the fact that they didn't lip sync and sounded almost better than the original CD tape version whatever blows me away cheers Kip Winger!!🍻💯❤️
What can you say? Musicianship at his highest form. I don't agree with people saying they didn't get the attention they deserved; whoever loves rock music knows who they are. Simply one of the best had rock acts, on par with the greatest. Period.
This is a hot song Kip vocals are amazing and Reb on guitar . I had the pleasure of seeing them in person they were AWESOME I wish they were still together .
They are better now than ever, seen them again last month, actually got to meet them which was great, top blokes, the new album is fantastic, (Better Days Coming) they are actually ahead of their time on most of their last 3 albums.
There is a vid from early 2014 posted of them doing "Can't Get Enough" and it looks like Reb Beach playing...and sounds like him too. I don't know if Morganstern is still with them though. I saw him with the Dixie Dregs in 1977..what beast.
I was 19….I was obsessed with Reb Beach. I recorded this on my VCR and watched it a gazillion times. I can’t believe it’s on here!!!! Those vocals!!! And REB!!! 🥰😍
This is how we knew a band could play/sing back in the 80's (if we couldn't see them live, of course.) Arsenio was famous for not letting anybody on if they were lip syncing or not actually playing their own stuff. This was not one of my favorite songs, nor was Winger one of my favorite bands. But, you knew they were real because Arsenio let them on.
Saw them live just 2 weeks for the first time and they were absolutely unbelievable. They put on a great show and interacted very well with all the fans. Undoubtedly one of the more underrated bands of the era. If you get a chance to see them live, do it!
Difference between the two bands according to Kip: "We could play what they do with our hands tied in the back". I think he didn't mean to show off, that's just the truth.
They may be better musicians although that is debatable but Metallica were far more original they were pioneers in their field they were to Metal what Elvis was to Rock n Roll where as Winger are just another bubble gum Pop Rock band with very mediocre songs.
@CastAirLead Not just "glam rock"....that implies that it's all about the fashion and not the music...that's not true about them, clearly. I happen to love both bands.
Hi! Back I the 80"s, at a Embassy Suites Motel, I was in Phx. Az.with friends for great summer concerts: at the pool I was hanging out, keeping cool, when I was suddenly pulled down into the water, came up face 2 face w/a stranger. I was a little confused, and embarrassed! Not until I came out of the pool, I was told that the gentlemen that had pulled me down was Mr Kip Winger. Confused, my friends enlightened me to the group WINGER! I could not believe that, such a Georgeous man would even consider, acknowledgeing my existence! This experience made me feel special! Thank U Mr. Kip Winger. Tina Jimenez-Spalding, Flagstaff,AZ.
