Winter Sewing Plans & Patterns 🪡🎄 

I made a coat some years ago which was fully lined. 2 tips I would give you. 1. Make the back of the lining larger than the coat itself and put a pleat in the centre back. This gives room for movement. You only need to have the pleat at the neckline and you only need about an inch.. 2. Place the coat inside out on a mannequin and pin the lining to it. If you then hand sew it into the coat you will get a better finish. I think sometimes 'dress making' patterns advise sewing on a machine and then turning out. My mother was a tailor and she taught me how to both make and line coats and jackets to get that professional look.

I highly recommend using the calculator but always choose the smaller size and grade because the neckline/sleeves always end up to big for me. Maybe you’re the same.

Love that fabric, but really glad it didn't make it into the boxes. I can't use anything with wool in as it isn't vegan. I can't wait to see your makes though. Sooo excited to see the boxes over the coming months, they sound amazing 🥰

You can always do a faux button placket on the velvet dress!

Use their calculator and use those suggestions. If you do a small bust adjustment because you picked your hip size, you'll also need to fix the shoulder size etc. Make a practice garment out of something similar to the lining.

That crushed velvet is gorgeous! I recently seen a stunning lady with crushed velvet trouser suit on which was a rich claret wine colour…..it was absolutely beautiful & looked sooooo classy 👌❤️ Can’t wait to see the dress you make with it!

With lining the coat-- Kittenish Behavior here on YT might have some pointers to help you. She always lines all of her clothes, even when the pattern doesn't call for it.
