No apologies for saying what I always say whenever I see someone find Wintersun. They are simply the greatest band (all of them) that most will never discover. Please spread the word this band deserves so much more recognition. TIME please.

You're right, Kai Hahto on the drums is now with Nightwish, and since Marko Hietala put his career on pause last year, Nightwish hired Jukka Koskinen, Wintersun bass player, to replace him for the current tour

Ah.. Kai! What a nice and humble guy he is but a beast on drums haha. His nicknames are "The Beast" or "The Human Metronome"'. In a docu Jari Mäenpää revealed that this song had 1682 tracks that had to be mixed! Crazy😂

Kai Hahto is one of the greatest drummers of a generation. His technical proficiency and perfect posture hide the amazing things he's playing! Also, actually watching him play is better than just hearing him, bc he's able to.lead with right hand then switch to left lead within the same pass! And he works 3 pedals w left foot... hes not a showy player, but his skills are top notch!

Jari is an amazing composer, lyricist, guitarist, vocalist. Incredibly passionate. my wife is a total classical head, and always viewed metal as noise. but managed to get her into Nightwish via some of the reactor channels, now this album is always playing in the car. She still hates the standard 4 4 metal but interesting that a classical person can appreciate the complexity of this type of metal

Happy for you, that you could get her into listening to some of it :). I ctually think, the composition itself is very similiar. When I introduced my Dad to Metallica, he said, it's like Beethoven on the guitar. Only the instruments are different. And the vocals, maybe.

You won't get copyright striked by WinterSun, Jari, the lead vocals, owns the rights to the WinterSun IP. Pretty much every WinterSun song is like this, so just blind pick, but everyone is gonna recommend you listen to Time next, so you should probably just do that.

Kai Hahto said in an intereview that he missed one click at the start of the sound for one Nightwish song and the whole band started a song out of sync with the background orchestra audio. He was able to figure the mistake before the first chorus, estimate the amount of error in the sync and he did a custom 5/8 fill to fix the mistake on the fly before the chorus because he was thinking that the audience would notice the problem in the chrorus if he didn't do something. Tells a lot about his skills as a human metronome.

got to do Nightwish seriously wow this is that band's draft circle lol yeah and Seven Spires Fearless new band blowing up opened for Dragon Force and they destroyed every show. So much so other musicians have said who wants to even follow that even she destroyed that floor.

Really interesting song. Melodic Death Metal meets Viking Metal meets Symphonic Metal meets Prog Metal meets Sing-A-Long-Metal (last 2 minutes). Fantastic drumming, I agree but everyone plays very solid. The lyrics are more into fantasy: ... "We are the sons of winter and stars We've come from a far beyond time Forever the fire burns in our hearts Our world shall never die"... Well its what we expect, the usual stuff. Hey, they are a metal band, no poets, so its OK. I have to admit that I will never be a fan of the "standard" growling in Metal. Growling is useful and really great if it supports the meaning of the lyrics, but in too many cases I get the feeling that singers growl because they think "Hey, we are really cool and tough guys, look (hear) how bad ass we are". Jari Mäenpää is an average singer but his growling here is simply ridiculous and silly. It disturbes the whole song. Without this I would have given this a 9 on a scale from 1-10. So it is still a 6.

I would argue Jari’s harsh vocal style is more black metal influenced than your ”standard” growling. I would also argue he’s using more clean vocals than before plus you have to keep in mind the man lost half of his other lung too. Anyway, it’s certainly not for everyone but I think you might like Time, Land of Snow and Sorrow or Loneliness better.

Not liking vocals is not a good reason to drop a score so significantly if you wish to claim any objectivity in your evaluation. The growls are on point, they give certain parts emphasis and significantly changes the mood in those sections. It's intentional and makes the song far more compositionally interesting than if it were just clean singing through the whole song. Moreover, the singer's performance during this session is excellent; he possesses a great range, makes few mistakes, and is able to switch between vocal styles effortlessly throughout the song, and he does all that while simultaneously playing the second guitar in a song that is far beyond the norm in its compositional complexity. To state that he is 'average' is nothing more than an insult. Without your poor evaluation of the vocals I would have given your short review a 9 on a scale from 1-10. So it is still a 6.

@@metallisika2745 Sorry, but I disagree. Not liking vocals is a very good reason to drop a score. What gets your attention in metal? Is it the bass player? The drummer? Nope, in most cases it is either the guy(s) on guitar and the singer. What you were writing is (same what I have written) your personal opinion/taste. You: "the singer's performance during this session is excellent" Me: It´s crap and boring . I just yawned because I heard this a thousand times before. No need to answer, we have just very different taste. Nevertheless, have a nice day!

@@ebm-everythingbutmainstream Like I said, which you apparently missed due to your apparent illiteracy or overwhelming desire to act smarmy, not liking vocals is not a good reason to drop the score IF YOU WISH TO CLAIM ANY SORT OF OBJECTIVITY. You are not evaluating the accuracy of his pitch, the conveyed emotions, or the compositional structure of the vocals interplaying with the instruments. You are literally going "me no like vocal, bad song". Your post is the equivalent of going to a pizza restaurant, getting a beautifully crafted pizza in front of you, and then rating it 6/10 because you don't like pizza. It lacks any intellectual honesty, making your entire reveiw worthless. I'm terribly sorry, but in light of recent evidence I cannot even give you 6/10. 2/10 is the best I can do.
