Wiring the Powertec 71054 Magnetic Switch

This is an excerpt from one of my videos on restoring the Grizzly Jointer.
Although I am using this in conjunction with a magnetic starter due to the HP of the motor exceeding the rating of the switch, I go into detail on how to properly connect line and load to this switch.

Thanks! Last time I tried to hook up a magnetic switch was 35 years ago. I finally gave up and had Donnie the local electrician do it for me - took him less than 5 minutes. Maybe my luck has changed in 35 years?

Is there a way to test the switch? My motor goes on, but when I release the 'ON' switch the motor stops. I can hold the switch to 'on', but it will burn out the start capacitor.

MY colors are: Green grounded, Black, White, Orange, and Red. IT's a 14" Delta Bandsaw. How can I find out which wire is which?

Black will be L1. White, L2. As far as the other two, I assume these are the load, but you will need to contact Delta or find a wiring diagram for that model for polarity.

@@rogersshop okay. I thought this was a 1/2hp motor, but it's a 3/4hp. Is this switch going to work?

@@steveo3012 Take a look at the HP rating of the switch. I believe it is only rated to 1/2 HP. A 3/4 HP would work, but may lessen the life of the switch.
