Finally a video that helps I recently bought some subwoofers “ctsounds” dvc 2ohms I’m running dual subs the amp is 1 ohm stable but I was running it at 0.5 ohms which the amp handled but rather have it at 2 ohms great video

take account for box rise, my subs are wired at 1 ohm but final impedance was 1.8 ohm. in my case if i was wired to .5 ohm would give me a better result closer to 1 ohm

@@Ryan-ps4wr my mistake was buying dual 2 ohm subwoofers I did not pay attention I was to buy dual 4 ohms to bring down two subs down to 1 ohm at the mono block amp, instead I was running 0.5 ohms which was abusing my electrical since I am running double full ofc 4 awg skyhigh wiring

Quick question, so when you demonstrated the series wiring on the 2 ohm final load, does that mean that when I'm strapping 2 amps together the two positive wires that you twisted go into the positive of one amp and the negative ones go into the slave amp?

Need help, I'm looking at two Soundigital amps (SD1200.2 & SD2400.4) to power ( 4 x Beyma PRO6CXND 6.5 8ohm & 2 x Beyam PRO8CXND 8ohm) how would I wire the 8ohm speakers to there respective amps I've listed or would a mono block amp work better such as a SD 1600.1 2ohm?

I did this and with a dual 4 ohm sub and it came out to half ohm then I re-did the wire by connecting the two sub then one lead out to amp checked my ohm and it was at 1 ohm my question is why didn't it come out to 1 ohm when I parallel the sub separately?

If u wire them together at the back of a terminal cup with ring post positive to positive and negative to negative..will u still get a 2ohm load from the the outside post of the terminal?

So those are 900W RMS each? 1800W combined? Correct, two DVC 2 ohm woofer wire to 0.5 ohm, 2 ohms or 8 ohms. The only issue is your subs will be starved for more power

Hi so pretty new to this was wondering this scenario: 3000 w rubicon stable at 1 ohm at 1500 rms @ 1 ohm and the sub is a 2 ohm 1200 w Peak power 800 rms wired down to 1 ohm the gain on the amp barely moved to a 1/3 now im overpowering it by like 700 watts right?

Generally you always want to have headroom, so your amp a little more powerful than your sub. The issue with overpowering it by too much is causing distortion at high volume levels and potential damage

There is no difference in distortion its about the amp that you are going to use it with. You want to properly load the amp.

Can the wires that connect to both subs AND then go to the amp, can those wires be connected together at the box terminal cup ? In case you have a box with seperated chambers

Yes you can wire both subs to the terminal cup, that will be a paralleled connection, keep that in mind.

I see you wires the sub in series with a red postive wire coming from one negative to cross to the other positive in the same sub. Can this only be done with a red postive wire or black negative wire as well?

You want to go from positive to negative so you have one remaining positive and one remaining negative terminal.

Unfortunately no. Two DVC 4 ohm subs can be wired to 1 ohm(parallel) or 4 ohms(series). Two DVC 2 ohm subs can be wired to 2 ohms (parallel), or two SVC 2 ohm subwoofers can be wired to 2 ohms (parallel)

Definitely possible! When you run that low, you’re putting a lot of stress in your system and power source and it’s highly inefficient

For 2 channel amps you can bridge the connection. Its usually marked. Left Channel Positive and Right channel negative.

Parallel allows for lower impedances, which means more power. Are they DVC or SVC, and 2 ohm or 4 ohm?

If they're 2 ohm, wiring at parallel makes a 2 ohm load. If they're 4 ohm, wiring in parallel makes a 1 ohm load

You can after the terminal cups. Pull the woofer and wire as need be in each chamber then at the cup make your connections as need be.

No, you will either have a 2 ohm load or an 8 ohm load. You need to connect both voice coils.

So now I am super confused. I have 2 DVC 2 ohm Fi Audio 10" subwoofers with a Rockford 500D1 mono. I have both subs wired in Parallel but with using each of the positive of one coil and negative of the other coil wired to the amp. It works and I have never had problems I have been so lost trying to figure it out

The amp is rated at 2 ohm, but wired in series there is no sound coming from woofers. Current wiring Subs cut out about 3/4 of aftermarket head unit volume.

The impedance-selector slider is used for easily changing the dual-voice coil impedance (2/8 Ohms or 1/4 Ohms, depending upon model). No additional wiring is needed for switching between series or parallel configuration.

Don't worry these subs are weird. So the switch refers to the load. The subwoofers will always be DVC 2 ohm. Two DVC 2 ohm woofers wire to a 2 ohm or 8 ohm load. With both subwoofers switches on the 4 ohm label, it means the load will configure to an 8 ohm load at an amplfiier. With both switches on the 1 ohm label, the laod of both subs wired will be a 2 ohm load.

Wow.. I had everything professionally installed and i specifically told them i wanted it wired to the lowest ohm capable for my 1800 mono class d which is 1 ohm stable. If i switch both to 1 will my subs performance improve? I also have remote bass.

Since these are DVC 2 ohm woofers, the lowest load you can make is 2 ohm. Sorry, these subs are confusing as hell I know.

No. Two DVC 4 ohm speakers can make a 1 ohm load. Or one DVC 2 ohm woofer.

@@ssgred9169 if you wire all the voice coils in parallel it will be a half ohm at the amp. The mono amp might have 2 sets of outputs but they are tied together internally. .5 ohm load is too low for almost all amps made today. Either change the subs or run them series and parallel to be an overall 2 ohm load at the amp. Most mono block amps can run this load all day.
