In this video, I wire up my layout, but without a soldering iron! I show you how I wore up my bus wire, and the dropper wires I use, pre soldered, then use slice connectors to connect the droppers to the main bus wire, saving me having to solder it.
This is a really easy process, even if your scared of electrics, hopefully I show you, you don't need to be!
I got all the things I needed from Halfords, where you can pick them up of the shelf. The dropper wires and fishplates are on eBay, bit more expensive that soldering but easier, and on a small layout it's justifiable.
If you have any questions, please feel free to drop them in the comments, and I will try and help where I can!
On to the next phase of the layout, deciding on scenery and then building it, and of course you can follow the progress on my channel, if your not subbed, think about subbing to follow my progress!
Thanks for watching!

Excellent video. I’m a complete newbie and this is the first video I’ve seen that clearly explains ‘bus wires’ Thanks for posting this.

Brilliant 🤩 I’ve watched loads of videos and read many articles on wiring a new track and it was all a bit daunting. This is going to make it so much more simple, I’m actually looking forward to getting on with it now whereas before I was dreading it😂 Thanks for posting 👍👍👍

How do you ensure the blade on your connector has made a good connection You do not want s wire that looks connected sitting there not connected and just sitting tbere giving no benefit.

Hi, on these blades they clip shut and only so when they've cut though the wire making a good connection, only way to really check is check the power to the track and if it's not what you think it should be is to try again with another connection, hope this helps

Thanks for that explanation. I hope you trimmed the bare ends of the dropper wires once you had closed the suitcase connectors. You don't want to risk them touching each other or anything else come to that

Thanks for this vid & these comments - I came across it as am about to embark on doing this for myself RSN (but with N Gauge) - can I ask a related question please? Ahead of actually trying this for myself, when clamping the wires with the blade, is there any risk of being too “enthusiastic” resulting in the blade completely severing the wire at all? Thanks :)
