Dennis and Julie discuss the differences of working with women and men. You should have close same sex friends… if you don’t, that is odd. Very close opposite sex friendships rarely work. Can you learn from someone else’s mistake… or must you experience the issue to understand? Beware of people who are too close to their parents, and conversely parents who are too close to their children. D+J discuss three reasons parents attend their children’s games… are they healthy reasons? The limits, boundaries, separations, and distinctions of appropriateness have been blurred in today’s society. For the credit of being a good or bad person… you are not solely a product of your parents. Reason without God leads to chaos.

I went to my son’s games partially because he was too young to drive himself, I could visit with other parents during the games, to enjoy seeing him play and the games were fun!

"Frankly, I tune out..." LOL! That was well worth the price of admission! And on a serious note, this was one of your best episodes! I'm really hoping this continues and we get to hear Julie's take on things like marriage and parenting as she is experiencing them for the first time.

Parents screaming is def unhealthy and at best very immature. I’m 50 with a sophomore in HS. He plays the snare drum in band which is EXACTLY what I did in HS. For me it’s not as much reliving my HS days through him as it is just wanting to be there to support him and so he won’t feel like I don’t care about him. But after hearing you guys talk, it’s really opened my eyes to the idea that maybe he will be fine without me ALWAYS being there. My dad never really came to my games and I never felt abandoned. I’m sure it’s different for other parents though.

As a parent, I'm by no means a helicopter parent, but unless my child requests I not be present, I will be there to show them they are important. I have attended many "clock watching" dreadful events for this very reason. My dad NEVER showed up because it wasn't important to him. He was very much into self service right up to his death. You're wrong about this Dennis.

I used to walk to my son's home games with him for safety, encouragement & on the off weeks one of his mates father's used to take him as his father was too busy going to work, than taking time off to take his son & I know that this upset my son as he felt that his father wasn't interested enough to support him & he was correct. Later his father went occasionally & I know that my son was always so happy to have his father there to encourage him. With my grandkids, my daughter often dropped me off with the child who was playing soccer to encourage them but mainly to be there for their safety. I would sit on my chair & knit or crochet & watch them & then encourage them in the breaks. Then my daughter would pick us up & we would discuss the game on the way home & if they were man of the match she would drive by McDonalds. By the way, I have never had close friends & still don't, I am a loner & happy with my own company. I am now a great grandmother. I never even had playmates at school as a child. I am partially deaf & strange as it may sound, when you don't hear everything said & come from an overstrict home & very, very shy, then you are marked & kids avoid you.

Love Dennis' values but he is so irritating to listen to. How about letting her complete a sentence or a thought?
