It's not subtle but :') Sylas n Wisteria's respective one wing angel forms making them stand ins for the Winged Protectors- Wisteria's gold for Kayle and her OrderTM justice, vs Sylas's purple for Morgana and her compassionate justice
THe designs are so clever. I just arghnslkjead When Skyen unlocked Sylas's Unchained mode some made jokes about "one winged angel" Sylas. And he looked similiar to Morgana when this mode is active, because it is unlocked by using power from her feather. Sylas's basic ablities and spells's visuals are also dark but at first i have given not too much thought about it. But then came Wisteria. And her "unchained" mode where she is also given a wing. Golden Wing. Her magic is bright orange/golden hued similiar to fire/light. Sylas and Wisteria are not only foils for each other in the story AND design wise - they also represent Morgana and Kayle. There are similiarities in both stories, connecting them to a degree. I very much love it. This shows how much craftsmanship was put into this game :D
53:23 They've reached a point where they don't have to just fight for survival, but can now have people working on much more quality of life things like having nice tea to drink :')
54:56 I know this is *not* the implication here, probably Sylas talking about feelings that he wasn't able to elaborate on and doesn't realise it yet, or cheeky peak at a future relationship he might have in the lore, like what 6:50 might be implying... but that "For...me?" made me laugh on stream. because, in my head, I imagined an aromantic flag blinking in and out right next to Sylas' head. because I, too, can give love advice! but what do you mean I should have romantic feelings for people and act upon my own advice. what.
6:50, As soon as Sylas said that bit, my first reaction was: "Sylas, are you implying something?" I think that sort of fuels the shipping fodder for Lux and Sylas
He actually likes her, but Sylas is an anarchist while Lux is a democratic socialist, they will basically always be enemies. As long as there is a throne, and there is Jarvan, Sylas will never stop.
...that completely flew over my head as a *Sylas and Lux* relationship jab; I was sure that this conversation happening right after people came to terms with Leilani's passing is Sylas lamenting her and what could've happened.
especially the "let *her* lead the way", like Leilani *was* the leader of the Rebellion and the one who led Sylas into a better future. can see how it kiiinda can be applied to Lux, but for both? to me, it felt like a more platonic relationship, as with Leilani (where it wasn't able to develop into discussing *what* their relationship could be), as with Lux (where Lux outright states that she and Sylas won't be able to see eye to eye due to their differences and him "betraying" her, Sylas being sincerely apologetic and not pushing Lux into admitting anything besides "Mageseekers wronged all of us, and I would've been executed if I didn't steal your magic)
Sylas is a great character, he's clearly very intelligent, even if he was imprisoned for a decade in a half and has had a chance to develop a better sense of morals and priorities, and I hope he will enjoy his freedom eventually...But he's anarchy incarnate though, I think he will keep himself a warrior.I do need to medidate on it.
@@velles6095 I don't think he's just chaos.I think he does want to destroy the monarchy that oppressed people for a very long time.Which is a way to reform the power structure and bringing an order that doesn't rely on only ONE person to function correctly.
@@velles6095 Heck, if Jarvan wanted to, he could dissolve this whole monarchy thingie. I don't thinks he considers his children(?) aren't going to be corrupted throughout the generations as well.Monarchy is so flawed.
@@visionofsolace8961 A monarch will never abdicate his right to power, it must be taken from him. So it is with every hierarchical system. That's what Sylas is doing, but now that he's carrying Leilani's ideas, he's going the right way about it - both hitting strategic points and giving the people hope, something a pacifist like Lux can never hope to accomplish. This game is very on-the-spot about how a revolution works. I don't think, however, that Sylas is an anarchist - the rebellion has an obvious hierarchy too, it's just that people below in the hierarchy aren't oppressed and probably won't be after all is said and done
50:20 I believe Necrit may have gone on record saying something along the lines of Kayle blessing Garen when he ults but that could have easily been a misunderstanding due to accent and language barriers. This video would be like 3-5 years old by now.
NO! THAT CAN'T BE ALL OF IT! WHERE'S THE REST OF IT???? 😭😭😭 God I am so invested in this story. I've been watching/listening all night for the last two days! Please upload the next part soon. 🙏
... Has anyone mentioned how gorgeous this game is, tho? It needs mentioning. Again and again. They really did something with these sprites, and when I figure it out I'm replicating the hell out of it, because this is how art progresses. **w** You know, that always messed my head up about Riot. Riot, they're not yer kids; you have to be willing to kill a character. At least once. Death, while generally undesirable, is also a good narrative tool. It's strong, it's poignant, it stands out in a story. Even Disney does it. And not just your evil characters, either; good characters dying in a timeline or two makes it clear how dangerous everything is. Riot, you're not special. >:V ~31:15 - ... I didn't know we were playing a Phantasy Star. :v
Can I just say, considering Sylas was imprisoned in a cell alone since he was a teenager and we see him immediately after that, it is very likely Sylas is a virgin...just saying :D His whole manspreading macho thing might be overcompensating :D
I like the development, but I'm not sure how quick it was meant to happen. Or how sure of it Sylas should be, instead of waffling at least a little bit. He was slammed in a cage around American-Middle-School-age... I don't remember knowing what ethics even were, or whether or not I should and shouldn't do things. Didn't get much of a chance to. Just a ton of religious guilt and built-in junk from TV. That is to say, every other convo, while the overall feel is right, isn't always 'realistic'. Think the end segments tacked on to HeMan and GIJoe, and how absolute and declarative they were. Or like how stilted old-style Anime translation was. There's a disconnect, even without Skyen reading it aloud. I guess what I'm really saying is: writing is good, but stiff. -Man, it takes me WAY too long to find my point...- :v I also get the funny feeling Sylas has just... always been a manipulator of sorts. You know the kid. That one kid that can argue and charm their way... out of EVERYTHING. Talk down ANYONE from a fight. Verbally dance the waiter or bartender out of extra servings. Schmooze ANY teacher out of an F. Reference: My little brother. Shades and SPADES, my little brother. XD
