Momen Faisal Ciri might have taken down 1/4 of his life but still I finished the game today after playing it like for a month or so not sure but this was the most difficult battle for me those ice blasts man he killed me like 5 times I think before I defeated him I was on death march too
If Caranthir had his staff intact Geralt wouldn't have stood a chance; he bested Eskel easily at Kaer Morhen, who is supposedly almost equal to Geralt.
No such thing as "cheating" in the kind of fight they were in. Caranthir can teleport, Eskel and Geralt can use signs. You think if Eskel had managed to use aard to knock Caranthir's staff out of his hands (Like Vesemir did to Imlerith), he would have claimed it wasn't fair? No, both sides did everything they could to win. The only "honorable" thing about the fight was Caranthir having his warriors stay out of it, who is ironically the one you are accusing of cheating. Plain and simple, Caranthir would've wrecked Geralt if his staff had been intact. Nothing fair about it, that's just how it would have been.
Well said, Bob, all accurate stuff up there. I felt the need to mention this since everywhere I see people saying Geralt is Badass and all while totally forgetting about others like Caranthir, who could have totally kicked his ass if not weakened.
1:40 Love this part. The drums beating, as the camera focuses on Geralt unfreezing. You know some shit's about to go down. So bad ass. God I love this game!
I got chills when Caranthir slowly climbs to his feet and his theme starts playing while Ciri’s still knocked out. I knew at that point that Caranthir was easily the most dangerous of the Wild Hunt.
Killer Kuerbis It's just my opinion, but I think they share a few characterisics. Unlike Imrelith or Eredin, we never see his face and I happen to think his helmet looks a lot like Boba's. In the entire battle of Caer Morhen, he doesn't say a word. In the final moment, he's the only one to keep his cool and drags Eredin into safety. A thing I always imagined about Boba, is that he's constantly on guard. There is also something about the way he moves, that reminds of Fett. Never in a hurry, but always first to react. Seemingly slow, walks as if every step tired him, but in his fight with Eskel he shows all his speed and ferocity. Now when I think about it, that's actually more like Bane from Dark Knight Rises. In summary, Caranthir is a a guy we never know much about, a silent badass, always ready and vigilant, the one you should worry about, because he's got no obvious weakness.
+Cezariusz 88 Like Boba Fett, he's sort of that character in the background that doesn't do much for the plot, but when he finally gets his spotlight (as short as it is, like Boba Fett's) he's damn cool.
It's one one of the best moments no doubt but imo nothing matches the fight against imlerith, that shit was maybe the most epic part in a game ever specially when geralt burns and destroys his head with his own weapon.
Cuz it’s actually a good game .. and sjws did complain about this game about how the women were just sex symbols and how it had a lot of nudity .. meanwhile ciri is the most powerful person and the lodge is holding off a storm
They complain because they have nothing better to do. This game presented a lady protagonist better than other games. Game developers who make lady protagonists think that such a game should not have any sexual theme at all which is quite retarded in itself. Sexuality is a part of humanity. Anybody who complains about it is insecure.
Well, technically Caranthir doesn't have to be dead, he can teleport out of the water, he's wounded pretty bad but I guess he's not the golden child just because, he's got fancy armor.
@@DreYeon Maybe he survived, he may have teleported away to safety. It is very likely the case imo because so far he's the only boss whose death wasn't 100% confirmed, tho his injuries seemed fatal but if he could teleport to his world and directly to a mage who knew healing magic, he could have survived.
I never noticed until this part of the game that the Wild Hunt's Head Navigator has a sextant, a real-life navigation tool, hanging from his hip. It's a cool detail, but the dude teleports between dimensions using magic and by all accounts seems able to do so with little to no effort. So the real question is does he ever use it or does he just have it because he thinks it looks cool.
During this questline I was like: "We will try to ambush them but it'll probably fail miserably. There are still 2 of the Wild Hunt bosses left." "Yep, the Skelligers messed up the ambush. It's definitely not over yet." "Ok, we may kill Caranthir here and then Eredin will escape for now." "Ok, maybe Caranthir will be fought by Ciri and Eredin by Geralt." "Ok, maybe the other way around and Ciri will fight Eredin." "Ok, Caranthir was killed by Geralt. But Eredin defninitely escaped." "Ok, Geralt fights both and Ciri is somewhere else." "Ok, we may wound Eredin before he escapes." "Wait, is he dead? Did we just kill two of the remaining WIld Hunt bosses withing 10 minutes of each other?" "Oh, It's Ragnarok. We may get to fight another giant or something." "Nope, we rode through Ragnarok..." "Oh, is Avallac'h the final boss? That's a twist." "Nope, the final boss is... the White Frost?" "Wait... what?" "Come on! Was that the Wild Hunt you have been building up to in 2 games? Three random guys in armor? What is this? Shadow of freaking Mordor?" "Ok, at least the ending was good. But seriously, the WIld Hunt were the least memorable bad guys in this game. The Crones or even random trolls were far more interesting than the title characters. Learn from that!"
+Bindair Dundat 3 random guys in armor? Caranthir specially had an interesting backstory, you remember when you went to Avalach's laboratory and you found out he was experimenting? Trying to make elven versions of Ciri? Caranthir is a result of that, his alias is the Golden Child, It would have been great if that was expanded upon
+Bindair Dundat remeber though, the games are technically "spin off-ish" from the books and probably relied a lot on the books to provide information and background for most characters in the game, especially the "iconic" but obscure ones like Caranthir, Imlerith and Eredin.
Bindair Dundat I thought it was pretty bullshit that Geralt got to kill both Caranthir and Eredin. Eredin, I understand, but it would've been 10x more interesting if we got a full fight to the death between Ciri and Caranthir. Caranthir was a failed Ciri clone that would be understandably angry about that. It would've been amazing to see them fight for longer, and eventually have Ciri beat him.
I like how Caranthir is clearly showing that Ciri has weakened him a lot when he's facing Geralt, he's leaning on his staff pretty heavily. Makes me think there's no way Geralt would've won if Caranthir was healthy
I disagree. It would be significantly harder for Geralt but remember he fought teleporting enemy before and won. Geralt is incredibly skilled and resourceful fighter.
@@risottonero4501 As much as I want to believe it, I would say yes like 4/10 times. Dettlaff is just too fast, even faster than Ciri. We have seen that Caranthir couldn't take ciri's attack. I would say that in a straight face off, Dettlaff wins but in a planned, tactical manner, Caranthir may win.
I love how Ciri destroys Caranthir's staff with a move that looks like a move martial artists call the Superman Punch. And now Superman himself is going to play Geralt in upcoming Netflix show. 😂
Epic. Ciri’s battle cry as she flies through the air and takes out the dude’s orb on his sorcery staff then round two Geralt undressing to finish him off! Do love Ciri’s battle theme as well!
Ciri is such a well written character. Just because she's a princess needing saving, doesn't mean she's not a badass. And just because she's a badass, doesn't mean she doesn't struggle and fail and need help
+crackshack2 Depends on how far you have to swim. A modern soldier's equipment actually weighs more than full plate harness; 50-60 lbs for the knight, 60-65 lbs for the soldier, not including weapons. There would be a serious danger of exhaustion and drowning, but someone who had the proper conditioning could pull it off for a short distance without a strong current. That is unless we're talking jousting armor, which could weight over 90 lbs because the knight would never have to wear it on foot. That metal can would make you sink like a brick. However, this isn't jousting armor. It's only three/quarter plate (no leg armor). So it's not so bad.
@@ryder4482aye cyberpunk lowkey is a cult classic now. The story might be a lil weaker(not a lot though) and night city might not hold a candle to continent in terms of life but I think it makes up in how much they improved gameplay. Not to mention they had the books as a base for TW3 while I don’t think cyberpunk is based on any existing story.
Eredin was easy because of roll, somehow all his super sayain energy blast can't hurt you as long as you roll, even if it hits. Then there's always the whirl stunlock.
He's much easier in broken bones, on deathmarch not only does he have a million hitpoint, he'd also most likely stunlock you to death if you get caught by his swing in phase 2.
was still easy on death march, in second phase you just rolled out the way when he teleported till the third time when he smashes down, then roll next to him and get few hits in. was easy to predict, hence the two tries to kill
Taking the fact that he was badly injured by Ciri, he put a hard fight to Geralt. I would say Caranthir was the most powerfull foe of the Wild Hunt. He should be the final boss from the game.
Its strange watching other people play as Geralt and fight differently than me. I was all speed and power, used fast attacks, cat school armor; light armor, never used Quen, always pumped everything into damage output and just avoided getting hit. My Geralt could only withstand a few hits before dying, so I relied on never getting hit. Replayed the game 5-6 times now and always ended up playing this route. It made fights feel more rewarding. You had to be good or you died. Occasinally I'd put some skills into signs and drop them during fights, but not normally. Watching other people play the tank style combat, heavy slow attacks, absorbing hits and using quen, its strange to me lol.
@Elena Ortega Sanchez i think it depends. If caranthir knew About they vampire and the vampire dont, caranthir wins, freezes him and then shatters him. He could oppose him in a melee combat, but i think the vampire would Just throw with him from wall to wall
He still managed to stand after Ciri broke his staff and weakened him. In his weakened state, he still put Geralt into a tough fight, and before his death, he almost killed Geralt by teleporting himself along with Geralt into water before Geralt broke free.. That's some badassery that deserve a lot of credits..
Fledermaus Gourmet Exactly, I had trouble the very first time I fought imlireth. After that, I can easily flawless it. I was NOT however, expecting Caranthir to fucking one shot me with his ice blasts.
Wish they had scaled the powers of Caranthir, Imlerith and Eredin to higher degrees. All of them were considerably easy to beat thinking the overall boss fights in the game. I had a much tougher time to deal with Dettlaff in BW and Olgierd in HS than these. I'm saying this as an owner of "Walked the Path" achievement. Probably, the game let me to level up much more than expected before continuing with the main quest and confronting these bosses. Nevertheless, these are really charismatic characters and I really enjoyed every bit of their screen time.
Swords can’t cut through plate armour, and it’s very difficult to pierce as well. Swinging a sword harder would probably break the sword more than the armour. Historically, swordsmen targeted weak spots in the armour-like the underarms.
@@Al0011235813 Ciri gave Caranthir a uppercut with the sword and literally launched him several feet backwards. A giant elf in full plate armor who weighs at least 300 pounds, maybe even 400.. Get launched by a swordslash. From a 20ish thin woman. Yes she had training and the Elder Blood but I call bullshit on that
Are you using some textures mods? Because your textures are so crispy and detailed on my 1440p monitor :o I don't played witcher 3 on on that monitor or that resolution but still.
Bro you have good gear but I think, that dropping FPS in that video ( noticable in battle between ciri & caranthir in 0:33 ) is beacuse you rendered it in some wrong version of eg. vegas pro (like vegas pro 13) I noticed that vegas pro 16 have ANY problems with rendering videos, always this is 60fps!!! But unfortunately veg13 do not respect us :D
When Caranthir teleported Geralt to the bottom of the lake he was wearing full plate armor and wouldn't be able to swim back up due to its weight, so technically, if we're playing fair, no one wins :)
My game had a bug...when I had to face him...he did nothing and just kept standing....and when I hit him with sword his Health would decrease...it was so boring....he defeated so easily 😭
i hope he's more stronger. i hate when people talking about the wild hunt is like "Wild Hunt No. no no" but the attack need more pattern or something more cool. like dropping ice meteor or something.
His fight with Ciri, in particular that last blow she landed on him in the cutscene, has left him very badly wounded. Casting magic in the state he's in is probably putting a lot of strain on him.
When I was at this boss I skipped all the cutscenes very fast like just smashing the button and I got to fight Caranthir as Geralt but Caranthirs staff was not broken. Has this happened to anyone of you? And I must say that It was a fun fight, gotta try again someday If It still works
I remember Imlerith being a pain in the ass, probably took me 20 tries. Caranthir, on the other hand, was easiest of them all. I'm well aware he was most definitely weakened by Ciri but he was gone after my first attempt. Eredin was the one who made my heart sink. Killed that motherfucker the second time. Hell was it tiring. Death march is sick! Feeling proud of myself. Pozdrawiam wszystkich graczy ❤️
