During the defamation trial on Wednesday, a pre-recorded deposition of Alejandro Romero was played in court. During his testimony, Romero was vaping and began to drive while answering questions. Johnny Depp and other members of the court struggled to maintain their composure, some even laughing.

@@besafe-mz2qi Just a traffic infraction of driving with no seatbelt. Your allowed to use your phone and do video calls as long as your not holding it in many states and he clearly had it mounted. Vaping isn't illegal while driving. He at max gotten a ticket for no seatbelt. Maybe they thought it was illegal to do video calls but it only is if your holding your phone in many states which he wasn't. Virginia, I looked up the laws and its only if you hold the phone.

@@thefacesucks Well I mean it could be his property he owns or someone he knows owns. Police can still write tickets although not common at all and easy to attempt to fight in court so long as there is a valid enforcement agreement (between the owner of the lot and local law enforcement) and the officer (allegedly) observed that you were not properly restrained a safety belt while your vehicle was in motion. Some random private property no way it would be enforceable but a private business or something possibly.

This was probably arranged by the defense. Doing nonchalant things in court during testimony basically means the person has no benefit from lying. They did this with a government witness at a Chicago mob trial back in 1980 or so. The witness, who was a hitman for the Chicago Heights crew, yawned while he testified about a murder he and a few other guys commited, which horrified the court, but ultimately gave him more credibility as a witness for the prosecution because it showed that he was so relaxed and nonchalant, there was no way he could be lying.

Proper and authoritative in a way… and talking about witnesses and people in your court case like that appears very unprofessional. You shouldn’t be making comments that take you out of character like she did especially with the camera rolling. It’s a good idea to keep your cases and your personal opinions of people separate.

In most countries its illegal to text and drive... So the fact that he's phone calling (also ilegal) and smoking weed (illegal) and nobody is saying anything it shows the lack of criteria and normal behavior society has. Smoking and using a phone while driving put at risk to other people not only you, that's why drinking and driving its illegal

It's about the person wasn't even in a neutral space, he was not even paying attention, and his testimony could be denied because he was doing other 3 things that was making him look and think in other situations, he wasn't present in the moment. That's why the judge was to stunned to speak, because it's common sense you have to be prepared and paying attention in the present moment, to give a legal opinion... And he was: driving smoking paying attention to the drivers Checking himself on video He wasn't paying attention so his testimony can be denied
