NOTE: This is a better-quality version of a video posted here in 2007. The person that sent me this clip claimed it was recorded in 1981, but a comment made on the earlier post suggested it may be from 1979, hence the two dates in the title.
Sign-off of the CBS O&O station in Baltimore back when it was owned by Westinghouse "Group W" and affiliated with ABC. The clip commences with the closing for Channel 13's Late Show. Following that are two Channel 13 program promos. Of particular interest is the one for the mid-morning show People Are Talking, co-hosted by Richard Sher and future superstar Oprah Winfrey (she was employed by WJZ-TV as a reporter at the time). The sermonette piece, Inspiration, is done by a Roman Catholic minister on the subject of God's gifts without making a single reference to Holy Scripture. After this is the sign-off announcement followed by a well-worn print of a U.S. Navy SSB film.

Judging by ABC's season campaign for 1979, I think this was used sometime after Christmas Day in 1979.

Oprah Winfrey was really young here. Didn't notice her with the afro until her name came up.

If it's January 1980, Oprah would have turned 26.

All due respect to the poster, but it sounds as if they were personally offended that the Catholic priest didn’t reference the bible in his sermonette. I’m non-religious and I enjoyed it.

I subscribe to a newspaper archive, so I was able to go there and check the Baltimore Sun's TV Week (local TV guide) for the previous Sunday (December 30, 1979) to find out what programs were on WJZ Channel 13 for the coming week, which would include Thursday, January 3, 1980. I found that the movie, "Bride by Mistake" (1944), mentioned at the beginning of the clip as a promo for the next night's late show presentation, was broadcast on Channel 13 at 1:55 a.m., Friday, January 4, 1980. However, the TV Week listing for "Bride by Mistake" appears in the grids for the evening of Thursday, January 3, 1980. So if the movie for the upcoming late show was on the program night of the 3rd - 4th, then this broadcast had to be from the program night of the 2nd - 3rd. I believe this research would pinpoint the exact time as well as the date of this broadcast clip as beginning at 3:30 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 1980. In other words, you are correct!
