My brother played the album on the record player when I was a kid, and that’s how I was introduced to Stevie Wonder. I listened to the whole album end to end for the first time last year, and, aside from the songs I knew, I came away disappointed. However, this song is one of those songs I will never get tired of hearing!

"There's Basie, Miller, Satchmo, and the king of all Sir Duke. And with a voice like Ella's ringing out there's no way the band could lose." References Count Basie, Glen Miller, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Ella Fitzgerald. Some of the greats in American music history. And on a side note I have to mention that as a child I once met Count Basie. I was too young to fully appreciate it, but Basie was far and away the most iconic celebrity I have ever met.

"I Wish" should be your next Wonder venture. The horns will drive Amber wild! And Jay, you did "Superstition" back in May...

Amber, so glad you appreciate this song. It has the horns. It's also a tribute to very old-school music like Sir Duke Ellington (thus the title), Count Basey, Glen Miller & their like. This brings me, again, to Enoch Light's SING SING SING. Please & thank you. You will not be disappointed by this fabulous instrumental that's heavy on the horns. Gonna keep suggesting until you react to this song.❤

Summer of '77 -- one of the hottest summers I remember. We heard this all summer. I was about nine, and I loved it. My parents were a little older, and so I grew up listening to the musicians Stevie sings about. I knew who they were. Peace, love.

The facts state that I must have heard this first at the age of 4 and it remains one of my favourite songs ever - despite never quite being able to predict where the chord structure is going when it hits the chorus. Sadly, gone are the days when I used to imitate the horn section in the shower. The album is nothing short of a miracle. The 1970s emanates from it like steam.

I love this song. I'm not always good at remembering the names of songs, so when I saw the title, at first I thought that I hadn't heard this one before, until I heard the music start. For other Stevie Wonder songs, I would recommend Superstition and especially Isn't She Lovely.
