Correct. So many people do not understand that the church is the body of Christ, made up of many parts. The body consists of Jesus as the head and then the other parts(legs, ears, eyes, toes etcetera) are everyone who has been born-again, makes up the One body(the One church), that has One Spirit and One mind. The church is Christ on earth! The children of God are the parts(the members) of the body of Christ(the church). We are spiritual stones in the Holy temple of God. That is what the church is, not a building or a system built by man. This is basic knowledge that so many, even in the body of Christ do not understand and it is one major reason why the church is not unified and having so many problems. Because they/we are so mixed up, in even basic understanding of things. From someone who lived the "bi" lifestyle for a number of years....I finally got my head out of my a** and admitted it was wrong. I'm ashamed of it. I'm ashamed of what I put my family through. I know it wasn't God's way. I know He forgives me but it still doesn't erase the guilt. So, I was terribly disappointed/upset when my (Methodist) minister announced that the church was going to be accepting "rainbow" clergy and performing same sex marriages. If I were a more outspoken person, I should have said something....or walked out. Coming from someone who's been there, I want no part of it! People just CANNOT/SHOULD NOT change God's word to fit their way of living!
Just know that in Christ you are completely forgiven and there is no guilt! But yeah I was equally shocked when the denomination accepted this stance as well
We disaffiliated with the UMC three-years-ago. We were a dying church and being further burdened down by the rules and regulations of the UMC. Our membership was minimal, and we were barely keeping the lights on but we had to make darn sure we paid the pastor’s salary and benefits and send our apportionments up to the UMC. Now we are a thriving and growing church where the gospel of Jesus Christ is preached every week and people are flocking in to hear it. People are hungry for the Gospel, we just need churches that are willing to preach it.
Im happy that your church is biblical. But what safeguards do you have that will prevent this from happening to your denomination in 30-40 years? Seems Protestantism is very easily high jacked or easy to change.
@@elKarlo What safeguards do we have about **ANYTHING** in 30-40 years? Heck, they way things are going in the USA right now, we may not be allowed to conduct religious services by then. That will be a battle for my children to fight. At least for now, they will receive a better foundation to prepare for that fight - away from the UMC.
When the UMC crashes and burns, like many mainstream denominations have done before them for breaking faith with their Lord and his word, those who have lead the denomination down this path may try to join themselves to former UMC churches like yours and start the cycle all over again. Be vigilant. Keep on preaching The Word which will strengthen your people and give them discernment.

The Assemblies of God has been ordaining women since 1914 and our fellowship is not even close to adopting any of the false demonic teaching and nonsense the UMC has embraced.

My church disaffiliated from the UMC in 2022. I am so glad we did. We are now a community church without denomination. This is not of God! Christianity is a religion of love, and I love them all, but love does not equate to acceptance of sin.

In the letter to the church in Laodicea, one of the focal points is the message that Christ is knocking at their door but they aren’t answering. If Christ came back today, this looks like a church that would love him because he probably wouldn’t come back as a straight white male. Would your church love Jesus if he came back today as someone who didn’t look like you? What if Jesus came back as a woman? How far does your love Go?

I knew we had lost our way and were heading down a path we could not come back from when the female pastor the Conference gave us who was fresh out of Methodist seminary, told us that she was not sure Christ had to die on the cross to save us from our sins. That is what sparked me to start looking for ways to get out of the UMC.
When I was in college, I attended a tiny, small town, UMC church. When you said that you cannot attend this and be a legit christian, you are absolutely correct. These people are not Christians. The UMC Church is dead. Get out before you were held accountable for your decision to stay.
As a UMC pastor, I’m proud of each and every one of those people for responding to what they understood to be the Holy Spirit inviting them to speak and introduce themselves as they are.
I may be wrong but I think churches could be closing their doors if people continue to leave and there aren’t new members especially young families with children who will grow up and have families of their own. I will not got to Methodist church anymore. I will not raise my children in a “ church” that has been infiltrated by our culture and wants to normalize things that aren’t normal. I agree with your comments completely. At this point, I personally believe that if a person remains affiliated with the UMC they either: 1) agree with the Godlessness that the UMC supports, or 2) they are oblivious to what is going on within the UMC. I cannot abide by either. I am **SO** glad that the members of my church home were wise enough to see through the sin and corruption of the UMC and vote to remove ourselves from that mess.

My small rural Texas methodist church disaffiliated last June. We have joined the global Methodist Church! I watched some of the general conference. It was painful. But the woke identifying was just the very surface of its abomination. All scriptural based sexual ethics have been removed. That is the real story!

“Christian” has become too much of a buzzword for being “religious.” I choose no longer to call myself that but instead use the term “follower of Christ.” A couple reasons for the change but wokeness calling themselves Christian has driven me away. 😢I’m sad as well. I think about the judgement the pastors and other leaders, as the scriptures say they are going to be held accountable for what they teach.
It’s gonna get worse before it gets better. We have a local UMC not more than 30 yards behind our house, and I’ve been seeing less and less cars in the parking lot every Sunday. I talked to the assistant pastor awhile back about it, and he didn’t seem to be concerned about it. They have not disaffiliated , nor do they plan to. Although I’m not a Methodist, it really does break my heart. As a kid, I was raised in a Methodist church.
If you can’t just walk up to the podium and say “Hello, I’m a sinner saved by grace” then there is a problem. If it takes you longer to recite “your pronouns” than it does to praise God, there is a problem. If you have to hold a conference to decide that your church is going to go directly against scripture and what it teaches, there is a problem. If your “denomination” conforms to the world, then there is a problem.
Thank you so much pastor! My family left the Methodist Church 50 years ago when pastors started questioning the authenticity of scripture. When the Revised Standard Version came out it referred to Mary as "A Young Woman" rather than virgin. Thete was a theory from a German theologian called "Higher Criticism". It started in the most prestigious seminaries and made it to the United States seminaries. It was literally the seed from which DEI/ESG sprang into existence. The RSV was produced in Europe. Then later an American Standard Version which corrected some of the problems, but most thoughtful and aware people had already left.
I was in the UMC for over 10 years. I was in the choir, played piano and was head trustee. When I found all this out, I wrote my withdrawal letter from the church and haven't been back. It just shocks me that no one else in the church I attended sees how bad this is.

Do you suggest the salt and the light leave the Church? In 2016 I attended the New England (Methodist) Conference. I was a 58 YO straight white male, blood bought Child of the King. There I heard "we", (Methodists), were too white, too male, too old, and too straight. I left the conference asking myself, What am I doing here? But it didn't take long for me to get angry. I loved the local congregation. and I wasn't going to allow misguided leadership to drive me away. Some people find their mission field in deepest darkest Africa. I have my mission field as a layperson. It has been a struggle for the last 8 years, should I stay or should I go? But one thing that cuts me to the heart is reading comments below of judgmental people that assume Methodists are horrible people on their way to Hell. Christ died for such as those.

I take it this way. There are too many labels. In my perspective, I find it interesting how we want to be equal but we keep placing labels. God and Lord Jesus does not label us. They don't care about labels. At THE Gate, Lord Jesus is not going to greet us with "Hi Gemma, white adult female, her/she, straight." The labels are unnecessary. I do not judge by someone's specifics. I am civil. I am respectful but the labels are what set us apart. Labels are not inclusive. We are God's children. That is our only label and identity.
Not just a Christian conference. This is the governing, quadrennial General Conference of the second largest "Christian" denomination in North America.
How about instead of identifying one's gender, color (Isn't' that obvious?), and sexual orientation, one just declares "I'm a follower of Christ, a child of God, a Christian?" Do they think this kind of personal self cataloguing is going to be permitted in heaven? Are we not suppose to become a "New creature in Christ", shedding all the worldly labels and sinful behaviors as filth and dross before God?
I think you can be gay and be Christian just like you can watch corn and be Christian or do drugs or cheat.. doesn’t mean that you SHOULD do these things. It just means that we all sin. That being said, what’s missing here is fear of God, shame, humbleness. All I see is a bunch of shameless, rebellious, prideful children wearing their sins on their sleeve and praising the self instead of praising God.

You can pray and ask God to guide you and strengthen your will so you don’t (for example) watch corn but you still have to be the one to turn off the computer, delete the apps, say no and then follow through with that declaration of intent. Yes, you should be actively attempting not sin but with no other sin do we say “you can’t be Christian any more bc you can’t resist this sin” not with cheating, not with corn addiction, not even with criminals in prison who have harmed people. Sin separates you from God which is why you should separate yourself from sin and avoid sining but we should encourage sinners to follow God in spite of their sins. Only through God can they correct their course. That being said, these are just my thoughts, as far as I know the Bible doesn’t say that homosexuality is any better or worse than any other sin a Christian can commit. Which is my point. Any sinner is better off with God than without him. To clarify, I do not support these Methodist churches or anyone who twists the Bible to suit their narrative. I think churches should stand on the Bible bc it is the truth. Without churches speaking truth, it becomes that much harder for people to find the light. I think this pronoun stuff is bs and I think it is a serious indication of the type of worldly teachings these churches are doing. A pride flag does not belong in a church, worship of self and of the flesh should be seen as sins not accepted. Churches that behave like this are shameful and as the Bible says not everyone is suited for teaching and they will be judged more harshly bc they are leading people astray.

(Whether that’s true or not) Let’s say you’ve decided to just accept being gay. You have read the Bible so you know it’s a sin. You’re not denying you’re living in sin. Would you tell such a person to just stop believing in God then bc they are choosing to continue disobeying him? I think it can be true that you can acknowledge you are living in sin and you can still love God. God knows a persons heart and they will be judged according to it. I would argue that it’s better for a homosexual to be homosexual and continue obeying every other rule of the Bible they can. (I understand part of the danger of this is the slippery slope of picking and choosing what you will and will not obey. Which is why I’m putting emphasis on the fact that it is a sin and you are being disobedient.) I believe this is something that needs to be recognized otherwise it’s far too easy to open yourself up to accepting or justifying other lies and sins. I am technically living in sin, I live with my boyfriend of 8 years, we have premarital relations. I know what I’m doing is a sin. I still love God and I’m still a Christian. Should I stop calling myself a Christian? Should I stop believing in God? Or should I just acknowledge that I’m a sinner, living in sin and continue to believe in and follow the Bible to the best of my abilities? Would I be better off rejecting God completely? Or should I continue worshiping God and get married as soon as possible? Right now I’m brining my partner to church with me. I found a church that specifically reads and explains the Bible verse by verse so we can understand it. We were both raised catholic/christian but by nominal parents who didn’t do their part in educating us on the Bible. So now I’m educating myself and my partner is getting up on his one day off to come to church with me. I’m praying that God makes his presence known and my partner takes the lead on our biblical education but right now we are both in the same place, new Christians learning together. If we stop pursuing relationship with God and choose to lead a secular life the odds are pretty good we would never course correct. On the other hand we could acknowledge our sin, continue to pursue relationship with God and we will inevitably course correct. God can do good even with the bad.

There is no "gay" gene. Repent of your sin and surrender totally to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and leave your life of sin. You can't have it both ways.
When I found out UMC is accepting this nonsense, I left the church. It is so sad because we have lost our morality and our relationship with GOD. I left the church but not GOD. I read the bible and pray everyday. Someday I hope to be in a community of GOD but for now it is just GOD and me. Still happy with myself and how GOD made me. I would not change anything about myself. Sad some people cannot accept themselves as they are made by GOD.

It's sad bro, I'm a follower of the way ..man has separated the church with all these denominations... In doing so the church has lost its way .. even non denominational is a denomination... Revelation 3:20, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. The verse is part of a larger message to the church in Laodicea, which no longer burns with passion and fervor for Christ but has cooled and grown lukewarm, or apathetic. This church and its people mistakenly think they are in a good position and have all they need, but they do not. Jesus wants them to feel shame about their prideful state and realize they are lost without Him and, in their apathy, they are falling away from right relationship with their Creator. The lines just before His invitation urge the people of the Laodicean church to “buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent” (Revelation 3:18-19). To that end, Jesus issues an invitation, knocking at the door of their lukewarm, apathetic hearts, collectively and individually. As with all of God’s Word, this verse has a universal and varied meaning. It is about the church at Laodicea, yes, but it’s also directed toward any church-indeed any person-who once knew God with zeal but has now become indifferent or otherwise cooled. It is about the salvation of the body of Christ, both individually and as a whole, to be ignited with the flame and fire of the Holy Spirit in a full, beautiful relationship with Jesus Christ our Savior. It’s a personal invitation, however, for despite what the church as a whole does, Jesus is always concerned about the individual. Jesus-who is God, Lord of All, the Great I Am-doesn’t need to knock, but He chooses to do so. He doesn’t force His way into our hearts. He wants us to choose Him. Not only that, but His knocking correlates with His words to the disciples in Luke 12:35-48. In verses 35-36, Jesus states, “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.” We are to keep our lamps “burning,” not grow cool and become lukewarm as the Laodicean church has. We are to be watchful, dressed, and ready, so when our master Jesus returns and knocks, we can “open the door.” As Jesus says similarly in Matthew 25:13, keep watch, “because you do not know the day or the hour” the bridegroom will come. He doesn’t want us to miss our chance for salvation. Whether Jesus is speaking to an unbeliever, a believer grown cold over time, or a church that has lost its fire for Christ, the most important thing to know from this verse is that Jesus wants us-every one of us. He’s there, knocking and hoping, eager for an invitation and acceptance inside. If we open the door, He’ll meet us in relationship, and we’ll be part of His forever family.
