Lets make a wonky log cabin quilt! This is a great quilt to make on the spur of the moment--there is no pattern, no fussy preparation--just grab some strip scraps and start sewing. We are taking these blocks one step further and assembling them improv style to create a truly improv/wonky quilt with a modern look. My quilt finishes around 50x50 but you can make this quilt any size you like by altering the size of the blocks or the number of blocks.

What a calm manner you have! I have seen this technique before but didn't really feel confident about it until watching this. I think the calm color scheme and solid fabrics also help.

I love Log Cabin Quilts and this one is wonderful. I haven't tried anything wonky yet but would definitely like to try this. It's freeing but has enough straight lines so my head doesn't explode, I have a little OCD issue. (It has to to straight and square) lol. You have a way of explaining things makes sense to me. Thank you for posting and keep up with the videos.

great video. Loved the color choices of your quilt. I hope you don't mind if ask... where do you get your Kona solid yardage? I know Joanns sells Kona solids, but somebody told me not to buy from Joanns because the quality of the fabric is not the same as if you got it from a quilt shop. I'm such a newbie that i just don't know. Thank you for your videos. I just love watching your tutorials.

@@TinyOrchardQuilts What color did you choose? I'm supposed to be sewing, but I'm hooked on your videos. You have no idea how big that is... Have you tried EQ8? I am pass rectangles, squares and half square triangles. My flying geese need some finesse but I am getting there. I am looking to go to intermediate with some new challenges, like in a sampler…..Is that a goal of joining your channel? I would like to participate in a challenge that will help me develop my skills. The most important quilt is the one in front of me….not the one that I am dreaming about! Do you have any suggestions?

Hi! Its the juki adjustable seam guide. I got mine from amazon but I'm sure its available at some local shops. It screws into the juki throat so it may not be compatible with other machines but there are also magnetic seam guides available that fit just about any machine :).
