fantastuc studio, i started watching the latest episodes first and i something about it screamed "ARTIST ARTIST!!!" at me, coming from the artworld myself, and now i know why. Very nice and and an envy to most of us here!

Wheels on stuff is good. I used the SOLEJAZZ Workbench Caster for tables and even put some on a set of shelves so I can move them around they have the nice feature of being able to lift the table up and roll or drop back down on the legs for stability when you get the table where you want. Very handy when you want to sweep up under the table.

Having a studio like that makes projects happen so much easier and orderly. It looks like it meets your needs well.

Great tour. I just completed a 36 ft square pole barn last fall and wish I would have seen this before. I don't have much room for shop tools but it is insulated and heated. I'm able to fit both my 20 and 23 sailboats on their trailers and still have room to work.

Thanks for sharing. I am setting up a new boat shop by converting a barn and will incorporate some of your ideas. Casters and rolling work stations seems to be the theme! Thanks again, Mike

@@TheArtofBoatBuilding I also found your studio tour very helpful and watched it more that once to get ideas for my own shop... now, it seems to me the outside contour is 40 feet deep and 36 (not 40) feet wide, minus a cutout (20 by 16) where the entrance court is. Is it roughly correct? That would make the roof pitch 3 in 12 , for 9 feet drop over 36 feet with... very nice work space.

I recently found your channel after seeing you on Acorn to Aribella and am really enjoying following your Haven build. Don't know what I like more, the boat building or the tool making. Either way, you're a true artist. Thanks for the insight.

I see that you have a set of shelves under your stairs to keep all of your flammables on, it might be safer to keep your flammables in a flammables cabinet... just a thought. have a great day.

I would love to build a studio like this, but I haven't figure out where that's possible. Can you share what kind of property you built yours on - a plot of residential land, a property zoned as commercial, or maybe a piece of Ag land? If you purchased land just for this studio, can you share how you went about finding the right plot for it? Thanks for your amazing videos. It's a real joy to watch your process!

Bob, your channel is great! The content and production are fantastic. I just found this video, and really enjoyed it. Did you build your shop with that L shape because of square footage restrictions with your zoning or more for the looks? Also how are you heating it in the winters? I love that bridge crane you have, it has me rethinking rollup doors vs sliding door on my shop expansion. Thank you!
@TheArtofBoatBuilding
@TheArtofBoatBuilding 6 месяцев назад
Welcome, I'm glad you're here. No square footage restrictions. I designed it with the L. From past experiences with studios I realize that I did not need lots of head room over machines like table saw, bandsaw, drill press... And that the bridge crane would only span 20' I heat with an infrared gas heater ( its the long tube hanging under the trusses) The sliding doors are a must for full operation of the bridge crane. Thanks for your kind comment and for watching! Cheers, Bob

Thanks for the tour. Beautiful studio. One thing that I didn't see is a sharpening station. What are you using for sharpening your woodworking tools?
@TheArtofBoatBuilding
@TheArtofBoatBuilding 4 года назад
My sharpening tools are in the old wooden chest that I keep the chisels in. I have most of the abrasives attached to a base so I can put them in the end vise close by.

The Turtle Carpenter yes, there is heat. In the beginning segment where a mention the clerestory window you can see a long infrared heater. That coupled with the ceiling fan it keeps the studio very comfortable on chilly days.
