Hey there! Back when I recorded this video, I used both CC epoxy and Faux Rizzle. I don't really use CC anymore (no particular reason why) and I only use Faux Rizzle occasionally. Faux Rizzle became VERY hard to get and was always sold out. I have actually switched to mainly using Tumblerpoxy epoxy. I swear by Tumblerpoxy and have found it to be the best epoxy that I have used so far. If you would like to try a kit of Tumblerpoxy, the 16 oz kits can be found at kccglitter.com :) I hope this helps!

Another way to make knots is to use a smaller brush....1/2 inch or whatever, dip the end of it in the ink. holding the brush pretty much up and down or even sideways...a 90 degree angle from the piece..touch and spin in a circle. Pulls away at 90 degrees. Proceed until it looks like you want.

Ma'am, if I may ask a question? How do you prep your cups before base painting them?
@KristisCustomCreations
@KristisCustomCreations 3 года назад
Of course you can ask a question! I prep my cups with acetone before painting them. Some people prefer to sand their cups before painting but I have been making cups for approximately 5 years now and haven't had a single issue with not sanding them beforehand. It's honestly going to be the personal preference of the cup maker as to how they prep their cups.
@breedlofam
@breedlofam 3 года назад
@@KristisCustomCreations Cool. Coming from a world outside of tumblers where we paint on stainless every day and it's required to sand or etch it before painting to guarantee proper adhesion, I'm curious why acetone is often used with tumblers instead of sanding? I've seen plenty of people say the same thing, but I haven't gotten a straight answer from them other than "that's how I was told to do it." Do you know why? If it works, it works, but I don't know why or how this trend started.
@KristisCustomCreations
@KristisCustomCreations 3 года назад
@@breedlofam I used to sand back when I first started making tumblers but I honestly hated sanding the stainless steel. I tried a couple of tumblers with prepping with just acetone and the paint / epoxy adhered just as well as it did when I sanded the cups. I have been using acetone only to prep my tumblers for about 2 years now. I don't think that really answers your question fully but hopefully it somewhat does.

You don't soak it in the alcohol ink and as you apply it to the cup, the alcohol dries really quickly. I'm sure if you were to rub it when the alcohol ink was still wet then it might try to take it off but I've never had a problem with it.

The alcohol ink will lighten as you put it over more alcohol ink because it basically pulls the ink away from that area. I hope that makes sense. It can def be frustrating but I find that if I blow on it while I work, it helps the ink dry a little faster. I hope that helps some!

Im probably using this method on a blue barrel primed. and using the PVC didgeridoo/oil paint method on the plumbing to accent it. Then maybe some metallic or black spray paint as racing stripes to emulate barrel bands. Then weather proofing all that with a clear coat. Because it will look better than 2 blue barrels and a bunch of white PVC. Im in the initial stages of planning since Im doing some bath tub rough in thats a pain.
