Woodturning a Walnut log into a natural edge wing bowl. The bowl is 24” long. This bowl be on permanent display in the new national HQ for Lumber Liquidators here in Richmond Va. Website: stevestoverstud...
I was scared just watching this. I would not try to turn a piece that way on my lathe. You made it look easier than I suspect it would be. The grain and the color is very beautiful. Great job!
Barb F As I evolve I will try to get to that point. I am hoping to upload at least one video a week. Hoping to get more followers to warrant the effort.
Who would have thought you could make such a shape from something that is going round and round. Would loved to have seen the completion of the project.
I just saw that you are from Richmond Virginia I'm in Luray Virginia not that far away from each other I'd like to come visit you if that would be possible. James
Bonnie, Thanks for the complement. If you visit my website you can a little about my situation. In a nut shell, I have a severe disability due to my back. I only get a couple of hours a day to be in my shop. I spend 18 hours a day in bed. I do all my editing in bed on an IPad. I will research if it is possible to do some voice overs with the setup I have. Thanks again.
@@stevestoverstudios2223 I can sympathize with you and your back problem. I have arthritis and bone loss in my lower back. Paying for all the fun I had when I was young. Lol. Keep up the good work. I forgot to mention you have a new subscriber here in California
@@stevestoverstudios2223 I definitely understand that I had lower back surgery and 3 disc removed from my neck all within 6 months time it's hard for me to do much and like you unfortunately I spent a lot of time in bed hopefully soon I can scrape up the money to at least get a cheap leith I really want to start turning I think it will be great therapy for my depression I deal with because of being disabled you have a new subscriber from Virginia. James
Thanks for visiting my channel. I will be making another one and will do video of that process. Please subscribe and you will know when I post it. Thanks.
Thanks. The harvested the logs from a tree that was damaged in a storm over the summer. I turned the piece to finished thickness and allowed it to dry for a couple of weeks in my drying room inside brown paper bags. Then I put it back on the lathe to sand and turn the foot.
I will say that never entered my mind. I would say that if your thinking it...it has a better chance of happening. With that being said...you probably shouldn’t attempt.
As a fellow turner, I watched with interest. You can see he keeps his hands and body on the safe side of the toolrest important for any kind of turning but especially so when "turning air" as in this case. He is also wearing a full face shield, very important in the rare case this thing comes loose. Gotta work on cool projects like this only when you are 100% physically and mentally, walk away from your lathe if you are not because you are right, these projects can kill.
