Awesome thanks for this, got my flywheel local site on my live domain thanks to your easy to follow video, a few UI changes in the last 2 years and the last step just asks you to log in, Anyone following this is 2020 you don't have to save permalinks or delete the old install data, plugin now does this automatically for you!! Depending on where you are migration from, there are a couple more steps. 1. If you are coming from your localhost or another domain you must edit the first two entries in the wp_options table. 2. Often you must change the "permalinks" setting "save" and return it back to its original setting to get WP to be willing to view all pages. But this was a great video.

Some of the UI has changed and there are some slightly different options (new ones) as even Duplicator Lite has been updated since this was originally posted but I managed to use this to migrate a site to a new hosting environment without too much trouble. The issues that I did face were a result of poor site management and development from the previous site developer / hosting service. Thanks very much.

@@wplearninglab One quick question. The Duplicator app didn't flip over all of my graphics into the web pages itself. Some it did, others no. They did transfer over in the media library and it's not a big deal to replace them, but was curious as to whether it might be something I can do to ensure all images transfer into the appropriate places. I'm using Divi from scratch and child themes, so uncertain that might be a problem. I work with authors, and some of them have A LOT of books, so there are a couple of clients who would be mind-boggling...I'm talking 75-100 book images. Would the pro version be the better choice over the free? Thanks again for all the awesome help. BTW I'm a US Army veteran and was stationed outside of Mainz LOOONG ago, but also have some distant cousins about an hour south of Bremen, so if you do a German channel, I'll watch, just to see if I can pick up on the language again. :D

It should have transferred everything. It's strange that it would do some correctly and not others. Since all the image files are there, I feel it's an issue with the transfer of the database. It's likely not anything you did wrong in the transfer. In your case I would try with another plugin to see if it works better. Another one of my fav transfer plugins is All-in-One WP Migration. I have a tutoral for it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DAC_qgmPp64.html You may not be transferring to a new domain, which is what this video is about. But the process for the plugin remains the same no matter where you're transferring to. If you use that and some of images don't work again, then there may be an issue in the database. I was born in western Germany, near Dusseldorf. We moved to Canada when I was 3. I've thought about doing a German channel by just voicing over my English tutorials. But haven't had the time :(

Hello thank you for the video, I had a question, I configured all my plugins (cache, security, wp hide, ..) locally on my computer. I want to deactivate them, do the procedure with duplicator and then reactivate them once on the online server. This will work or it will take up too much space and I should only install them when I am online. ? Thank you

Hi Gareth, Just to keep things clean and organized I would remove the existing site and delete it's database before migrating with Duplicator. Do I need to point the nameservers from an old site to the new hosting which have the same domain name before moving the newly built replacement site which is a subdomain to the main domain folder? I am not moving the old site files from the old hosting, I have built an entirely new site. Also, would I have to set up a redirect from the old to the new even if all the pages are not the same and/or exist on the new site?

Great work moving your site to live! Normally, I remove the old database and site. That way there's one less site to lose track of. Just make sure not to remove the DB of new site! I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

having issues with I/O usage when installing the site into the hosting min 13:14 i get timeout error, and from what i've read, is due to I/O Usage reaching the limit, which for me is 1mb

Just watched to refresh. One little issue I came across (my fault, not yours Bjorn). When I downloaded the pair of files I already had an installer.php (well 2 actually in my download folder). So the installer file was named installer (3).php. When i entered bookmine.online/installer.php it returned a 404. Soon as I renamed installer (3).php to installer.php in my C Panel all good. Cheers buddy.

Interesting question. Where are you migrating it to? Another multisite or do you want to the sub-site to become it's own stand-alone WordPress install? I've never done either of those and the latter will probably the most difficult.

Hi, I am trying to install this on my WP site and it says on the Duplicator tab "Not Supported" where it would normally say install now. I did open the ink for more data and downloaded it, but it does not work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It will work the same. Make sure when you're setting the URL in the database or under Settings > General that you make it https. Also make make sure you reset the permalinks once you're done migrating. If i want to move my old website named "example.com" to "exa-mple.com" will this plugin work to do that also based on what you said in 14:00 ? Or do i need to rename all files and domain name separately with a different plugin?

Everything went well until I got to step 4 of Duplicator where it asks you to go to "Admin Login" - when I click on it a plugin causes an error that starts like this: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in (path) .....very frustrating. How do you handle this error? The plugin that is causing the error is Elementor-Caldera-Forms. My sites main form design was created with this plugin so I hate to just dump it and start over. Any suggestions? Basically I cannot even get into my admin panel.

Hey thanks for the video. Just wondering if you had to change your nameserver because you host your domain in a different space then where you access your cPanel? Apologies for the newbie question. For instance, when I followed your video I skipped that part and was able to migrate my local site to bluehost server successfully. Was I not required to make those changes because I can access both domain hosting and cpanel via bluehost?

No worries for the newbie question, that's how we learn :) You only have to change the nameservers if you're moving your domain name from one host to another. From localhost to a hosting account doesn't require a nameservers change. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

I've had it stuck at 100% before. I think it maxes out the server resources and stalls. I just canceled the upload as tried again. With All In One WP Migration there are two steps. First, the upload which is the step you're on. Second, the install/overwriting of the site with the backup. Stopping in the upload phase doesn't cause any problems on your site. Stopping the install/overwrite phase can cause serious problems in your site.
