Working as a Meat Department employee at Costco. It’s heavy labor and your lifting boxes weighing between 25-100lbs but it’s incredibly rewarding once you finish the job asked of you. I did my best to give you an idea of what working in the meat department is like, but if you have any questions I’ll answer them in the comments below.

This is strange to me. Im an opening meat wrapper too. Been working 2 yrs. My job is all the seafood so rewraps and fresh fish and frozen shellfish/roadshow items. Im expected to have all the seafood for the day done by the time we're open at 10 and i come in at 6. The manager typically does all the cooler stuff. Our cooler seems to be a lot bigger than yours. We have 1 skid for seafood, 1 for bull, 1 for all our prime, 2 for choice, 2 for pork, 2 for chicken, 1 for lamb and 1 for org grnd beef. We make about 210 to 225 a week. I noticed you guys also have a lot more counter space than us. We have 7 employees in our meat department although we should have 8 since 1 guy just quit. A bit eye opening to see you grab all that shrimp. I typically grab 2 or 3 cases of u15 and whole shrimp a day depending on the day of the week and how much carry over. We have the manager, the sup, 2 ft cutters, and 3 wrappers(should be 4). P cool to see how different it is.

Hey! No, they do not have a sausage press. Respectfully, Costco meat cutting is pretty bare bones comparitively to genuine local butchers or places that process whole cow.
