What a load of cowboys all outside cables should be buried 600mm deep and in cable ducts if possible & taped! This instalation is not safe!
@steved2136
@steved2136 3 года назад
@@andrewgeary989 Actually in the UK, there is no defined distance for burying steel armored cables, ie 'BS7671 requires that cables be buried deep enough so as not to be disturbed by any reasonably foreseeable activity - such as digging with a spade or a lawnmower and that a yellow warning tape be used to alert of the presence of buried cable.' which theirs does meet the requirements (and indeed the use of the 'tile tape' is well above the minimums required...)

Absolutely brilliant, I’m self employed and many a time work from 0800 to midnight in the workshop, and that’s when I get careless, couple of times had a cheeky buzz from a machine when fault finding because I’ve isolated it ten times etc but forgot on one occasion and that’s when I say enough, fatigue sets in go home and start fresh in the morning. Shut downs : I worked in a large computer infrastructure/medial site and it required a new 11K feed upgrade. So a shutdown was planned, so we got ready to bring down all the electrical systems on the day when we got the message, shutdown was cancelled, the 11K upgrade was done while still energized. @stephensaines7100
@stephensaines7100 3 года назад
Depending on the carriers being armored or not, metal conduit might be required in some North Am jurisdictions, and buried different depths. In Ontario, minimum residential is 24", with caveats: [According to Section 12-012 of the code and table 53 the minimum depth without any protection must be 600 mm (or 24 in.). You must also bury caution tape above the depth of the wire so that if someone digs in the future they won't be shocked by their efforts.] [...] wattsource.ca/cable-burial-code/ And that's just a 15 amp 120v shed feed! Commercial is much more demanding, as is 240v and 30A or higher feed. Warning tape must be buried above the cables to warn those digging.

CTs and Cat5: it sounded like you connected the CTs directly to the Cat5? If they're 100:5 CTs that sounds like you'll either have them massively under reading (which probably won't matter here?) or melting the Cat5, and CTs don't like not having a load.

I was just wondering... You've installed 4 chargers at 7kW each. How did you balance the loads? 1 per phase plus one repeated on a phase. But did you: (a) just put it on any phase randomly (b) look at other loads in the building and choose least loaded phase (c) measure phase voltages to see which one is least/most loaded on the feeder

Another job to be proud of, interesting 2 parter. Out of interest, was there any desire from the customer to install more points out front in future, as such did you consider making larger/multiple cuts in the concrete to install ducting/containment to be able to push/pull additional SWAs. I recognise the additional work/cost this would incur, probably the need for groundworkers prior.
