"The flank abandoner" who thinks the best tactic is to leave their flank and cross the whole map to get to "their spot". They then proceed to criticise the team while they just sail and contribute nothing (apart from noise) to the battle.

@@grizzz6884 the center spawn is hard to play because it's usually best left alone. At least at the beginning of the match. Yeah if you're a dd and can get it quick, then more power to ya, but for most other classes it's better to flank and get back to the center spawn only if the enemy decides to rush it. (If they do, on most maps they get crossfired to death)

Tho personally i never feel the need to have almost an entire flank for myself, iam 9/10 matches drawing the short stick of a lemmingtrain, been rather lucky with getting rid of subs then other ppl have, i guess just by guessing well where the sub is, but for me what trully kills this any match and this game in my eyes with all ship classes is lemmingtrain and a CV unwilling to support a vulnerable flank in most cases, not even spotting, its so strange since cv are the most multirole ship/class in the game Iv generally done both stayed on a vulnerable flank and left it, i think the game should penalist ppl who abandon their flank and give ppl that are outnumbered on a flank a good xp buff Guess everyone saw this simularly, but just felt the need to give it a good rant... the entire game is frustratingly beautiful scenery and waste of time

You totally forgot the most important one: The whale! They started the game two weeks ago and were fed up with grinding through the tech tree so they bought their way to their first high tier ships. They have no concept of penetration angles, spotting range and think radar is "hax".

I would add to your list the smoke DD player. He shows 2 main skills 1. Rushs in the cap, smokes up broadside to the reds and sits ducks until he gets torped/radared 2. Is the only guy spotting on his flank, smokes up and wants to farm with HE spamming The quitter was a very rare breed in my 2500hrs of WOWS experience. But now that I think of it, there is a very dumb category that you meet probably once per night: the AFK rusher. That guy stays AFK for 5 or 6 minutes, wakes up, hits 4 times W, and dies in 2 minutes while trying to overcompensate...

you didn't include the rare player, the team player. you don't always see one in the battle but when you do have them around they are a joy to have on side and a nightmare to face against. I've gotten lucky for the last week and had at least one on my team in nearly half my battles. It's so nice to have team members that support each other, playing their ship class properly and focused on the win instead of the kills / damage farming.

They are just ruinning the game with their bullshit mechanics and toxicity. Even a good player can't deal with a CV seatting in the back at 20km. He can't angle and dodge every attack. All he can do is tanking and watching his game being ruined.

I like to call these players The Telepathic Admirals. They think of a gameplay move other players should do be doing but it's all in their head. Then, when the other player does something else, The Telepathic Admiral gets furious that the "dumb" player didn't understand how to do it or make that play properly. "As if they could read your mind or hear your thoughts. Who's the dumb one exactly?", I grumble to myself. These players remind me of my MIL lol.

#6 - The Worrier. Similar to #5. That guy that spends the entire battle worrying about what everyone else is doing and does not pay attention to what he is doing. Usually, one of the 1st to get sunk.

I have seen every one of those players, but the worst one that you didn't mention is: The lemming train chasing after the enemy Carrier to A-10 or some other corner, while one player (usually me) is trying to defend our Base from being capped & loosing the game. Then when I Radio "Requesting Support" & "Defend The Base" only to hear "Denied", that really pisses me off! I have lost count of how many "Two Brothers" games, that I have been alone in the cap with a cruiser & the enemy team pulls a "Flambass" & drives 1 or 2 cruisers with a BB down the slot into our cap.

#6 The STAT-MONGER! This player usually has played for several years and is set in their type of play style. But if they get killed early to mid-match, watch out for the blame everyone else and the stats to come flying out in chat about anyone who lets them know they may have just made a poor choice in battle. They will debate their stat numbers are better than yours to the bitter end even though they died......before you.....🤔😂😂😂

Because I am clocking on in age "next round number is 70" I tend to play for fun and relax so the coop mode is my daily play, what you find in this with bot subs don't miss, and you tend to get mirrored by other players that simply sail alongside you so you can't fire torps even shoot sometimes, lots of players don't use the mini-map and sail into you, they tend to press W and forget A and D also work as for the hybrid ships I have one but they are hard to play as they don't excel at anything in my mind I have 64 ships 39 Cruisers and the rest are Battleships and have 7 years of gameplay under my belt even with just playing coop is still fun but not as rewarding, I even have an account on Steam to see how far you can grind without spending money "the grind is real" progress is slow...

I'm about the same on the age and doing coop...often matches last 5 min...wish they would add more ships and last longer. I use mostly cruisers and once in awhile use BB's to get the feel of the different classes. Got a hybrid but haven't touched it yet...same for subs. Got one and I let is rust in port. Yep, grind very real and slow progress but learning ship mechanics is the best part of the game. I use Mainz as my go to ship and I have it down very well. I'm fine doing coop. Maybe will do clan and random battles after I am comfortable with more ships. Agree with you on the points you mentioned.

I'm just over 70 and play CO-OP to The player that peeves Me most it the"pinkie"who just sits at the spawn. A good percentage seem to be clan members who seem to think CO-OP is below them.

I am a bit younger (but not much!), and play mostly co-op with the occasional operation with a clanmate. my least favorite players are the ones who follow you without firing a shot then steal the kill while you're reloading, the ones who'll cut off your torpedoes so theirs will hit instead and you get yelled at for "firing at your allies", and the ones who change their direction after you've planned your route. when they get too bad I just log out for a bit then log back in, usually get put in with a different group of players.

i watch my first few matches.If the mm is giving me fair matches and the rng is allowing a fair dispersion rate then i play to win.But if im always 2 tiers low,im shooting circles around target ships or getting 2 cv matches its YOLO time.

I am so sick of the average player in this game. The propensity for blaming everyone else but yourself is overwhelming. It's never your fault, it's the CV's fault for not spotting for you. It's the BB's fault for not following you on to the flag, or not pushing up to brawl in an artillery BB. It's the DD's fault for not spotting, for not killing the sub, for not providing AA, or for not capping the flags. DD's are a swiss army knife capable of too much, so too much is expected of them. Ships have roles in this game, quite clearly. Some ships blur the line, but most fill a role. Too many of you don't understand a ship's role before cussing someone out for not playing with their toys how you want them to, or expect them to. People are toxic with it too, very toxic.

I admit that after having a few CVs deleted I got into the habit of being an "A10" CV player. Finding that "sweet spot" of "close but not too close" sometimes eludes me, depending on island placement, etc. I also, more often than not, seem to have the bad luck of picking the side of the map where that side gets flanked... or my team straight up abandons it and I have no idea at first, then I'm trying to turn a CV around. Not fun. I will say that I'm definitely not an "identity crisis" player at least. I try to time my shells with my planes, and if my gun comes up at the same time I'll usually fire and then launch.

your point about CV's is more or less me. though i dont do the 'A10' bit. I usually set multiple waypoints traveling along the back or close to it. I'm seeing a lot of the 'Identity Crisis' players at the moment and its starting to annoy me as they are big tanky ships that should be able to soak up some of the fire but that instead gets left to DD and Cruiser players (often in my case as a light cruiser with armor as effective as wet tissue paper.

Good review SLM! The Das Boot ref made me laugh but understand the point. As a periodic CV player i learn from TopTier and there is a fine balance between being spotted and plane response time. Sometimes you get caught but with some practice you can optimize it. Some players on your team FREAK out when you do this as they have likely never played a CV and expect you should be at A10. The Hybrids are fun at mid-long range to use both guns and planes, but being a new type ship, everyone and their dog wants to farm you. When i see a hybrid parked behind an island, he makes an easy target for my CV. Good video good advice !!

Knowing how much U-boats have changed and ruined the game even more than CV's and Hybrids, I'm very surprised how many dedicated followers and "U-boat only" players have entered the game. They are like a depraved tribe of people, intent on ruining the game for everybody else, as long as they just can race around in a sub.

Would add the "Flight n kite"Sailor.. Typicly in a light Cruiser, propably MAINZ,kiting.. waiting for an unexperienced player,too bait BBs towards them,and as mr unexperienced player tries to hunt him down,he throws Tons of HE in his face,while sailing away,zig zagging,burning him all the way down.

I about died a bit when you said most submarine commanders use the dummy fire torps, but not me with my whiskey class S-189 I use dummy fire torps to zone but when I use my homing torps I'm not dumb enough to be behind the ping but off to the left or right of it. Also it's worth mentioning that the S-189 can stay under water for awhile like that of the Brits, but Whiskey class gets two different types of torps I like to think that the S-189 requires some skill I'm not the typical player I watch videos non stop usually from TopTier but I mix my play style with that of whoever I see that's good. I'm told by many that I'm unpredictable and I guess that's why two tier 8 CVs failed to kill me in the S-189 while I was out of battery charge to submerge too lol. I look forward to the Soviet submarines for sure, the S-189 can easily wax the Germans too (2 stern torpedoes).

I have 2 more: The Admiral: Spends lots of time giving orders to his team mates in chat and gets really upset at players who don't follow their brilliant plans. - The "IJN Cruiser Captain": "If my ship has torpedos, I must rush in and launch them, no matter if I have to show broadside to the whole enemy team in order to do so."

"Health is not as valuable as Damage" - The player that refuses to use the heal, in the pursuit of that 0.2% faster fire rate, even to the determent of their team. They will accept burning or flooding beyond what a heal can recover, just to gain that minor damage buff. Typically these players are streamers (Not just poking fun at SLM here, I see so many WoWS streamers throw away 10% - 30% of their HPs just for that sweet, sweet Adrenaline Rush hit.) :)

Player "911Happy" brings up stats in chat during every game by calling out otherr peoples low stats so he can esentially say: "hey look at my stats" without saying it. He even messages people after the game to get you to discuss and look at his stats. Apparently, it's his life obcession. What a narcissist child. Blacklisted.

Variations 1- Quitter: bad series of matches for the day, even with good personal stats but all losses, until he explodes (mentally) in the first 5 minutes (mainly due to sheer idiocy demonstrated for the nth time by his teammates and is just DONE. Close the game, probably the computer in the middle of the match. 2- Farmer: CV player that just spread his damage, does not care about that 2K DD or to spot for the team 3- WoT Player: does not want to take damage in order to avoid "garage fees" (actual in-game quote)

You forgot to mention the Hypocrite. Probably the most legendary type of player in this game and frankly pretty standard on here. These are the people that suicide or do something blatantly stupid especially at the start of the game. Enemy team executes on the opportunity target and kills them. Hypocrite now proceeds to cry in chat for awhile saying "useless team" when they are quite literally the most useless player on their team at that point. They are dead and no longer contributing to any effort to win the game. It's always their own teams fault they died for some reason not theirs for making a bad play and whatnot...

The one thing about Farmers, is that while they have no qualms about letting a teammate die, they are so seeking dmg, that they want games to last, and usually end up being a net positive (though not always). Sub players are a life form slightly below the parasite and above the serial murder. I do think many of the ID crisis guys are trying to figure out the balance (I still am). I've come to believe that it's best to use guns for dmg, but planes primarily for spotting (subs and DDs), but sure don't have it figured out.

I met typical farmer in Shimakaze in ranked some time ago when playing my Ohio. The enemy DD player didn't contested cap, wasnt noticed by any single torpedo at center line area for early match, he looked to be AfK, I noticed only 3 sets of torpedoes coming to my broadside. It was unavoidable dev strike to me as guy assured he gets under my detection range when I was either shooting or in spot of another ship already. So he killed ship, possible excuse to enemy team that he did enough, but he ended up to be chased by our 2 ships for the rest of map. We have won, no fishes in cap zones, free push for our team. I have met sub players going for typical shotgunning at least twice. While DDs seem to be closest type of ship to subs, those players can have around 40perc WR in DDs but almost 70 in subs. They simply delete some important ship and thats all they do best when it ends to contest cap vs half full BB they end up pinging getting spotted, game over for them. Speaking of CVs, there is also one more type of player ingame, DD special type called CV Hunter. There is another type of BB player, I would call him Dev strike collector, he avoids shooting angled targets and leaves initial salvo when get gets enough such targets spotted. But there are farmer players alot in CVs, to hunt either BBs or cruisers without care of defending caps or friendly ships.

nothing is worse than getting target-locked by a heavy cruiser "farmer" with HE equipped who is determined to burn me down... because once they do that they usually succeed unless I can quickly get out of range 😕

I'd agree, that there isn't always something you can do, but if you're better than average, you'll win more over all. Especially if you play high impact ships.

The player type which annoys me the most, especially at low and mid-tiers, are players who focus on staying alive and minimize risking any damage to their ship. They hang back and essentially make their contribution minimal in the first phase of the game, and in low to mid-tier games the first phase is usually what sets up a team for victory. This player type bifurcates into two sub-types- the less common type just tries to stay alive until the very end (presumably telling themselves how it shows how smart they are to be the last to die) and the more common type that throws themselves into hopeless situations after their inaction has given the enemy team the advantage (presumably to finally put some points on the board and tell themselves they weren't the worst player on their team, even though their inaction was the prime source of the team loss). The second most annoying player type is the "I'm just having fun, and you are being mean to criticize my lack of skill! It's just a game, dude!". As if the skilled players, who enjoy playing as a smart team, are also not trying to have fun in the game. The game doesn't really provide a good mechanism to organize and explain how players should work together on a particular match in the short period of time at match start, so we simply HAVE to expect players to minimally know how to properly use their ship in the role their ship fills in the game. This "I'm just having fun" player is like a pee-wee soccer player just running around chasing and kicking the ball in a practically random manner. But I think we should have a reasonable expectation that teammates should know the rules and roles of the ships in the game, just like the quarterback expects the center to hike him the ball at the start of the play rather than just pick it up and run with it. The team won't be effective if people don't know how to use the ship they have chosen and how such actions support the TEAM win.

YOU MISSED THE MOST OBVIOUS ONE .........the team farmer who farms own team..he does not care to play for win he uses his own team for bait while sitting back and racking up points while his team mate is getting hammered..typically they wait till team mate has inflicted best damage he could and now is dead ..then they fire their guns..oh they also wait and not fire waiting for the kill steal..

Such player ignores simple but obvious fact, playerbase consists of people of different ages, sex, occupations, health; some have just an hour a week to play but some play non-stop and so expecting everybody to be "good" player is just insane.

2 more for you. 1)The player on the opposite side of the map who criticize your game play when they don't know how many ships are targeting you etc. 2) The player who feels they have to chase down the enemy. You have a hard fought battle gain the cap advantage, kills are even and people get tunnel vision and hit W. When all they have to do is defend as the other team needs to come to you. Sigh!

That all depends on the circumstances, I'll rush ahead and get into the cap, get spotted and stay spotted turning and shooting and spitting torps as fast as possible, get sunk but have damaged 1/3 to 1/2 the other team and kept them focused on me so my team can focus on them. is that a wasted effort even though I didn't take the cap?

I had a Rooke be both a farmer and a quiter on Narai. The guy sat back and took shots at ships that were firing at teammates. He flamed me for pushing into the bay alone because tne transports were there, and the team wasn't. I shot back that someone had to push in. The rest of the team wandered in one by one and got wiped out. He, of course, had a ton of health left, tuned tail, and tried to run back to the start. He did get run down by a few ships that didn't miss a salvo. He kept running his mouth in chat about how he had like 292k damage, and I only had 250k or something. He completely dismissed the fact that I doubled him in base XP, ships sunk, and something else. He then followed me back to port to keep coming at me. I had to report him because of all the slurs and flat-out toxic comments he was making. He sounded like a 12 year-old who knew words he wasn't supposed to use trying to sound tough by using them.

Secondary BB players suffering from brawlitis and dumb dd players are tied for easily the worst teammates you can come across in this game I swear. And there’s always at least one that does early and blames the real for not supporting them in their effort to speed run back to port. It’s honestly incredible man. And it’s not even hard to be competent at this game but people somehow find a way to just… I don’t know… show zero capability of critical thought or engagement of more than 1 neuron at a time.

I still like the old trusty single nation player, usually US Navy. Typically shows on their in game names somehow, stats only show US ships, and high affinity for Statue of Liberty commanders. They must be really talented playing a keyboard and mouse game while playing with their hand over their hearts all game….
