World of Warships- What Battleship Line Is Right For You In 2023?

Sweet, I was actually searching for one of your videos about battleship lines yesterday!

I’ve worked my way up the French, American and Japanese BB lines as a casual player. Stopped at tier 9 for the first two, and got the Yamato, and boy do I love this ship. The guns are just so fun - shell velocity is decent, and to me it just feels so reliable because it only takes 1 shell to ruin someone’s day, and with a decent reload time you’ll be slinging small cars across the map the whole game (until a sub or DD nukes you)

If you wanted a pure BB gun focus experience, IJN can't go wrong Next best probably USN BB (Monty) The gun of these two feel the most consistent for me

My personal favorite: French line. Tried and true: Japanese and American lines

The Montana, despite not being as shiny as all of the new gimmick ships, remains such a great ship. The Yamato is also timeless, but mostly because of its guns.

For me, the cons to the US BBs is actually that they are boring. They are good and effective but i dont know why, i rather have two loses in my FdG and one win and i can use my secondarys, than three wins in my N. Carolina. The stats say they are good, everyone who played them says they are good and best for new players. But after i startet to play them, i got so bored, i played other lines who had some gimmicks. Therefore in my opinion, for me, boredom was the downside to the american BBs

I personally played the Italian BBs as ambushers. The good torpedo protection, exhaust and amazing AP pen and SAP allows me to sneak into unsuspecting position and dev strike anyone thats not a DD, as long as the enemy CV is not paying attention.

Amagi is amazing at close range I used her during the last t8 brawls and won most of my matches

i would add that french line BB beside having a small engine boost ( and are better at flanking) have somewhat fast reload, especially rep that have a cruiser reload XD

Honestly Columbo is very very good when you can get it to work. Push up to a island, and you can just farm massive damage.

I like this period of every year, when everyone's making videos like "The best/ top 5 of something in 20NN"

Still love the JB to death (with the reload booster)... I have over 3500 games . It can shot down planes, decent rudder for torpedo beats (including "homing" torpedoes), sub or DD behind out - lets the secondaries to deal with them, it will pen chunky DDs will pen easily with AP, throw a salvo at a low health DD/CA and kill then at 18+ KM, speed boosts helps keep her out of trouble (and kits really well), can absolutely cap or shield DDs/CAs who are capping. Only real issue is DPM but that is helped by the reload booster. Get Russian BBs on the broadside and rip them a new one. 10K chunks easily on the German BBs when aiming high on the hull.

Honestly, I love do the Italian BB. On the European server they are accurately shooting, my honest opinion, and their SAP is a winner. BTW, I haven't seen the smoke generator in Europe yet.

even today i dont think you can go wrong with the usa montana line. i think alot of people get enticed by long range german secondaries and find out the hard way that brawling aint what it used to be. i think accurate hard hitting mid/long range bbs is where its at. USA, France, and brit BCs

Good List video Sea Lord, perfect ship lines for their respective ranges. OH MY GOD, will people ever get over the fact that US DREADNAUGHTS ARE SLOW?! They may be slow, but they SPIN like tops as a result. The tier 8 and up Dreadnaughts have 23 knots max vs the 21 knots max of previous tiers without modifiers, with the Flag and Brisk (plus 10% speed when undetected) you can get them up to 24-25 knots. New Mexico is pretty Meh though, but at least she has 12 guns so at least you throw alot of shells when uptiered. Also cus its a dreadnaught the Torp Bulge also acts as armor. Use the side armor and Bulge armor to your advantage and you should be mostly fine. As for Colorado, i can understand the "speed envy" but you also got 16inch guns at tier 7 and while it IS only 8 guns, US cannons can actually hit stuff unlike certain OTHER nations that shall remain anonymous. Also as long as you take advantage of her Torp bulge armor and the EXTRA THICC side armor, Colorado is pretty Tanky.

Funny enough, I had better results with Lepanto than Colombo... I think is the speed. Lepanto speed together with the stealth and brisk commander skill made for a nice flanker.

Yamato turret speed with all the upgrades to increase accuracy. The research point one included. Is so SSSSLLLLOOOOWWWW! Expect to use your rudder to aim more than the turret lol.

man, you are able to grind at least 2 lines playing moderately, since my return to game last year I have grinded through IJN & USN BBs, USN CAs, USN DDs, EU DDs. On two lines I'm on T8, on two lines I'm on T7, on one line I'm on T9. Playing moderately.

Basically I agree. Go German's for close range (battlecruiser line seems better at the moment, but proper BB line has better main guns) , with a caveat that Germans may be a bit more situational than the rest. considering the brawling being kind of discouraged due to subs. For mid-ranger/universal, go standard US line, not the fat line. For ranged - go Japanese. All these lines have one thing in common - simplicity - con complex, weird gimmicks, there is just you and the ship and the enemy team. No weird situational quirks, no strange tradeoffs, weird behaviour or bizarre consumables. Basic is not always a bad thing.

The American Main/Fast battleship line is not tied for the oldest BB line in the game, way back in the closed beta days, we did not have American battleships, just the Japanese ones. American battleships were added alongside Japanese carriers.

I followed the French Line, it's okay for me. But now I follow the German line, and for me it's way better. I am at Gneisenau now and love the ship!! Thanks for your videos it really helped me getting better.

What about for Vermont Line, British Battlecruiser Line, and Louisiana Line for a specific gameplay???

Fuso... is Fuso. i couldn't agree more. I love Kogo, I love Nagato, but Fuso... is Fuso ;) I'd just like to add that if you're playing a lot of ops and looking for a coal ship then Duke of York is really nice battleship to sit in. Not as deadly as Lazo cruiser, but also not as easy to kill :)

I enjoy the IJN battleships. The Yamato is my next step. I like the Brits too, but I've decided to grind their heavy cruisers. They have the improved heal from Tier VIII, and excellent AA.

i think i did okay in us line, until iowa, i just totally failed in iowa , plus colorado's slow speed just make me feel i will never reset this line... currently i only like ijn BB line all the way from t5-t10.

I love the French ships for their speed. They are classic flankers.

the british battleships having poor armor in higher tiers is so annoying, historically they had excellent quality, thick and well distrubuted armor and a thick deck,, the guns were also very accurate with the 15 inch and 14 inch guns being very accurate.

British BC have been an amazing line for me.

If you love to using BBs to snipe, than the Imperial Japanese Navy offers the best of the best of BB snipers in the game.

Been playing since open beta so a question like this is kind of redundant since I basically have every techline bb already (except Conq but I have a Thunderer for that) A question i do wanna ask is this: What can an older player do to have fun in WoWS? Grinding techlines isnt that interesting anymore since we own most of them already. Game modes have gotten stale for sure. And its easy to burn out on the latest dockyard or event ship. What can I do?

What about the musashi? Everytime i match with one of those it seems to me that this thing just irgnores armor and totally rips you appart in 2-3 salvos

I remember when I was playing my conqueror and suddenly a full health Halland pops up from behind the island at 2km he was bow into me waiting for me to shoot so he can show broadside and torp me. I shot him and clapped him for his entire health pool with no detonation. It can still clap dds

I really love the Agencourt, fire starter & secondary build. 50% of the time no CV's you rain death, the other 50% you're screwed.😂

I love how the intro gameplay is an absolute mess😂. Most guys would have put some shiny kill shots there but you showed the true experience.

Sorry to disagree with you, but the t5 Italian BB is fun and trolls with it's armor layout. T6 on up I agree..

I have to say, I liked the Italian BB line better than both the German Battlecruiser and Russian lines.

Republique is super fun but hard to play well and really suffers from having bad teammates.

The deadliest weapon is torpedoes don’t matter what armor you have 5 to 6 torpedoes ends the biggest ships

Colorado is my third favorite ship. And it really isn't very new player friendly.

I got tier 4 RUS CV and I can not use planes. I tried use every mouse and keyboard buttons. I only manage cap base and use guns to set cruiser fire against bots. What a "great" quality this game have. Makes think CCCP sunglasses, I heard they was good against sun, those was so dark You could not see anything when You used those. Arcade game, not simulator. Why We still play this game? No idea, except ships was interesting.

yes, I agree about the italians T5-7 because I am stuck myself at T7. IT JUST SUCKS! Only 8 guns and TERRIBLE dispersion! I recommend Louisana and Montana since their armor and guns are decent, but Vermont is another story. If you want a ship with a lot of guns, take the french battleships, but for god's sake, NOT THE VERMONT. This ship is litterally armored with paper, just like the french, but with less guns and secondaries. Patrie is at least having dozens of guns and paper armor. But to counter that, Devastation has decent armor and the same amount of guns as Patrie. C. Colombo has 16 guns too and decent armor, but the damage and caliber is just bad. Personally, the best ships out there is Incomparable, due to her torpedoes and decent armor (unlike the Shikishima, that costs even more) and has one of the biggest caliber and damage of the game with the ability to had her shells have a 0% chance of ricochet on T10 ships.🙃I hope this recommendation helped at least one person in this vast 9 billion people world (talking to ppl of the future hehehe)

I loved the t7 Italian bb, that was a really good ship. The Veneto is just the biggest hunk of garbage though, the guns can't hit anything and it has terrible range and at t8 when you will 70% of the time get uptiered to t10 its totally useless

The Colorado is brutal. I hate that ship.

T5 - T7 aint italians aint bad. Just dont use SAP and use your AP bc you have massive guns

Soviet is the best if u want armor. They are the best at armor. Most of them are 200+ while USA and IJN is at 50

I hate the US battleships because of the slow shells. With people figuring out throttle juking in their cruisers, it's just annoying as hell. Any cruiser player who isn't a complete idiot is looking at the sky whenever they're spotted, and it's pretty rare a good one gets hit by US bb shells. You have to get lucky enough to catch them in a crossfire where they're looking at your teammate or sitting behind an island assuming your shells can't get over the top. Otherwise, you're just firing at things and hoping they're stupid. Also, who wants to grind 360k xp in a Colorado? 0 people. Vermont is a good time if you have a good team. The hybrids suck and you're going to get reported by salty chodes.

Japanese Line is quite enjoyable , US line sucks until at least new mexico, gets fun at north carolina German Line is okay but main battleship line can be quite inaccurate - would be better with faster heal times Italian Line t1-9 is utter garbage t10 is okayish at times UK line : not a fan of it turret traverse is abysmal French line : Punchy guns but ugly ass ships Russian Line : meh , not a fan of them, very sluggish ships Also have fun at carrier con sealord, maybe you can release some vid bits when you come back

The best Battleship in the game is USS ohio because we can play her in whatever manner we want like it can brawl and snipe at the same time although grind is Tough but it is the most worth RB ship.

Brawler myself. I'm really enjoying the Asymmetric battle mode for that as well as the credit haul on premium tier 9's...wonder if they'll nerf before the event / battle mode ends? I'm cool with a nerf, still like it much better than co-op.

Sea lord you missed the brand new Soviet hybrid bb lines which is the first bb line that starts from tier 1

I would tell a new player to do the US, IJN, Soviet lines to tier 5. If they are comfortable with aiming. Go US line. If you find you like to sit back and fire from long range. Go IJN. If you find you like to play a little closer. I would say the Soviet line. Plus I find the guns very easy to aim. Especially when you get in that 10km to 15km range.
