Thanks Alvin for this useful preview/presentation of this streamer, seems to be gorgeous. The fact that you've repeated several times that is NOT based on a Pie module (as the Holo Audio RED for example ? 😁) is already a sneak peak of its audio capability and sound signature. Looking forward to test one myself. Cheers.
Great rundown Alvin!! We are really enjoying the ARCE paired with our beloved ARES II in our system. Very nice pairing. And as a ROON user, I can report that the minute I plugged the ARCE in to my network it was recognized by ROON and within seconds I was playing music.. :) Looking forward to future updates, as well as continued audition and our review coming soon... Cheers and Happy New Years...
Hi Alvin. Very nice presentation. I will absolutely consider the Arce in the future when it is released. It's probably too late in the development process, but I would very much like to see wifi capability built into the Arce. Cheers!
hi alvin In the Denefrips catalog, such an object was missing, I would say that the digital reproduction chain is now complete! Thanks Alvin for your work 😉
Thanks Alvin, the service from Vinshine Audio is excellent and honest. Alas, I think this streamer is not for me, at the moment, I don't want an expensive subscription to Roon. I have a question though considering the roles of the DDC in between the Arce and e.g. Pontus II. I bought the Hermes to clean up the usb signal, is that no longer necessary if you have the Arce? Considering there is no usb output then how can I have DSD 1024 sent from the Acne to the DAC via non-usb connections?
I'm very interested in this as an SD card player. Will the sound quality be better through the SD card versus streaming on it? To play music on the SD card do I need to be connected to the internet to browse the files?
Arce Streamer will be equipped with an Android app that allows users to play content from USB storage. The app provides a simple yet functional music playback feature, enabling users to enjoy their locally stored music on USB or SD cards. Stay tuned for the update sir!
Alvin, as I understand your report update. The hardware is developed, the software still needs much upgrades. With no timeline available current. This project has been in development since 2017, thus the finished product most of us wait for could be some time away. For those of us that have been waiting to add this to our dacs, it’s rather disappointing news. I hope Denafips can speed up this process of joining the main services people look to today. P.S., if the Wiim mini can get its software taken care of, I’m sure a company like Denafrips can settle contractual obligations for software? To be clear, I’m not comparing the Wiim to the Denafips in terms of hardware! For you to come on and tell us you honestly have no idea when updates will come tells me it will be a long wait? I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Denaprips should take care with its dedicated customer base so to not lose confidence with its value system. Alvin’s Vinshine Audio has the unenviable task to deliver the bad news unfortunately. ✌️
Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it. We are committed to collaborating with DENAFRIPS on enhancing the software aspect, and we're confident that we'll achieve our goals. Thank you for your kind patience and understanding, sir!
Hi Alvin, I already have a RP4 Streamer and before the Release of the Arce streamer I considered The Iris DDC connecting it via I2S to my Pontus II. As the Arce does not have a USB output and the Iris only have an USB input I assume it is only an Arce OR a Streamer+Iris decision. Question: Does the Arce Solution will sound better than the Streamer+Iris solution or are both Solutions comporable as they may incorporate similar measures to improve sound quality. This could be quite interesting for all others here who have already a streamer. Thanks a lot for your answer.
Come on lah, if it has a ARM SoC compute module, it's not that different at all from all other streamers with off-the-shelf compute modules. If not, then please present technical details, not marketing talk.
Alvin - is this the entry point? Ie will their be a higher quality denafrips model? I just need a good transport with I2S to pair with my T2 12th. On that note, why are there no reviews of the T2 12th? Is that cause it's way better value for money than the T2 plus 12th as has been suggested by some websites?
I own Audio Alchemy DDP1 and it uses mini Din connector for i2S , can you give me pin out of your HDMI out so I can build custom cable to connect it to my DDP1 ? I love my DAC and preamp and need just a steamer with i2s
I love my Denafrips DACs but this streamer lacks too many features, is too expensive and does not seem ready for market compared to the competition. Folks want screens and a software that links with a phone (if no remote is provided) sorry but this product is not ready for prime time compared to what is already out there...
The Arce streamer is equipped with an internal DDC, eliminating the need for an external one. This built-in DDC includes a FIFO buffer and a Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator, effectively making it a Streamer+DDC in one device.
If you already own Bluesound, and happy with the sound quality, you may like to consider upgrading the PSU: www.beatechnik.com/product-page/lhy-bluesound-psu-kit
I have Streamers from Bluesound Node, Raspberry Pi up to Grimm MU1. One feature that makes me keep the old Node 2i is it's Trigger out. If you can implement that, I will be the first to order one ;)
What do you mean for Roon Bridge support? Is Roon Bridge installed on Arce (is the Linux) or installed on my PC/laptop, which to be connected to Arce? Which digital interface to be used for this? USB? You have implemented less popular technologies like HQPlayer, DLNA 44.1/16 (wow!), and have not implemented UPnP and RAAT. It seems that the streamer for today is just garbage.
I could just imagine the look from someone, who overhears a conversation between audiophiles mispronouncing this product in public, would give. A: "Man, I'm curious if your ARCE opens up after 100 hours of burning in". B: "Me too! But I think it would take way longer than that. I've been burning in my ARCE for close to 80 hours so far. It has opened up a little but it's still not warming up & smooth yet. I'll let you know when it does so you can come over & enjoy it." 😁😁😁
It's really infuriating that Apple has the best quality streaming but remains incompatible with the majority of streamers except via Airplay which is lossy. Sandboxing at its worst.
Bluesound node is laughing all the way to the bank if overpriced. Now we have to pay for Roon on top of that to get other streaming services. When you do put more streaming services then I may consider it. I would rather buy this MATRIX MINI-I PRO 4 ES9039Q2M Music Streamer than this product
Bluesound is too busy scrambling to recover the market share shifting to Eversolo while they release yet another bland looking box that finally has a useable dac.
This is a Red Flag for me: Here is the Denafrips Return Policy. **************************************************************************** "Return / Refund Policy We run an honest business, we strive to keep the cost low, therefore, effectively pass down the saving to you, our customer. We do not support return / refund of any product. Thank you for your kind understanding." ************************************************************************* There are a lot of Chinese Dacs that are Superb, and have a Full Refund (Less Return Shipping) Policy --- Via Apos in California. Before dropping $4 Grand on a component, I would want to try it out in my System. If the Manufacturer/Seller does not trust their component enough to offer a trial period, why should you? Especially for a $4 Grand Component.
