I can't thank you enough for this video. A tiny crack appeared on my screen two days ago and the top half of my screen stopped working completely. Went on ebay, ordered a new screen with adhesive and tools - watched your vids and now i have what looks like a brand new phone in full working order. Superb!
Hello, Phone Ninja's, i gotta thank you a lot for your tutorial video, how to replace the broken screen on my Z3, here in the US, Sony is not as popular as elsewhere for Smart Phones, even they are one of the best looking and advanced phones, yes they have the problems too. This is the third time that i broke my screen, yuup i'm clumsy, this time I didn't wanted to spend $150 and the headache, that the store in my area is not capable to fix the phone. so went to eBay and bought the parts, watch your video a few time and got going. took me an hour to complete but it works and like from the phone fixing store, the back doesn't fall off. replaced my back glass today no prob no hassle had it prepped before the replacement was delivered and sealed in an anti static bag after going over the trim with nail varnish remover and a cue tip. My phones now black n white. Always apply heat AFTER you press the glass down to make sure the adhesive gets the most contact with the frame.
@2:56 that is not a very large piece of adhesive. That is the pull tab to release the adhesive on the battery that sticks the battery to the back cover. That is why it took you a while to get the back cover off. That pull black pull tab works like the 3M command strips.

So everything was going well, until i got to the loudspeaker screws, they wont come off and they are starting to loose thread.. any ideas on how to solve this?
I just changed the screen and everything is booting up with the Sony sign but the touchscreen is not working.. I am therefore stuck at the lock screen and cant do anything.. please let me know if you have any idea how to help.. I already took everything apart 3 times :/
Hello realized the exchange of my screen, all went well, she is working perfectly, but I had two problems. 1 - the speakers are very strange, it seems that only one channel is working, very lost their quality. 2 - the microphone is not working, can only receive calls through the speaker because the microphone does not work. phone ninja! I need some advice. my xperia z3 just fell on its side, the power button has sunken down and the screen has lifted a little on that same side right above there the button is, should i ask a technician to fix it or is this something i could fix by myself??
On my Z3's back panel seal lost grip a bit and some water entered the phone. That resulted in only touch stopping working. Could it be just a shorted connector? I'm thinking of disassembling it to find if that's the case.
sorry, I have a question. My xperia z3 now break a little hole because I try to use a pin to clean the loudspeaker. what I want to know is does this affect waterproof? It seem like the loudspeaker doesn't affect other component in video. if it doesn't a big problem I don't want to repair it... because sony repair department told me that it's need to change all the LCD module, and it is too expensive...
Hey, iv followed this tutorial and although the new screen shows its on - (it lights up) it doesnt display anything other than black. Is their something i should of done to prep the new screen?

I have 3 series and after water speakers do not work properly are quiet and days after month drying remain silent compared it with other phones no way still others gllasniji even cell phones than $ 50 have a stronger sound? what you think is you need service still have a guarantee?
My Digitizer is shattered, and the screen is unresponsive to any touch, but the LCD seems to be perfectly fine. Do i get just the Digitizer or Both LCD w/ the Digitizer??
Hello Phone Ninja, thanks for really good DIY material! I'm having trouble w my z3 compact: had broken back cover glass for few months and lately people started to complain, that they hear me badly. I'm guessing some dirt or glass ruined the mic. Could microphone be replaced separately? could you give part nr for ordering it? and could you note in which second mic is seen in your'e video, please?

Got question so my z3 display does not work nomore so i was gonna buy one on amazon thinking they original but the tech guy told me their no such thing of original display if you buy them somewere that is not Sony or get the display is coming from other z3.. So my question is.. Its it still fast the touch and is the resolution still the same?
Kimberly Pack i have the same model and yes you can replace it with the white one.if you have the same model for example D6603 but i fully recommended not to do it.you will lose the waterproof.ill tell you this.send it to proffesionals, yes yes you will pay 40-50euros or dollars more but they will fix it like new and you will have the waterproof.they also give a guarantee ;) hope it helps
can you put a video where you assemble back the lcd and it works also why would you disconnect the flexes with a metal screwdriver y understand the glue but the flexes ???

there is two holes of the speakers and there is a plastic part used to clog or closed this hole and you can use oca not loca glue , to stick the borders like the glue used by a plumber . it is waterproof ;) but do not try to test this with the battery connected to the phone , and even without the battery (just for test) try to click on the power button to discharge the whole capacitors on the motherboard . ... or to be more safe , open the frame , release (take off) the motherboard and battery and put a humidity or water witness paper , a paper used to be proof that humidity or water is present in this place and then put it in water less than 1 meter and less than 30minutes . this is how it can be tested , but anyway if you test it and it works , second time a drop of water can pass trough and arrive to the board . test it as your own risk :) if it work and a customer comes and ask for waterproof guaranty then give it
It can be made waterproof, you need to use the original quality adhesive border stencils for the front and back. Press it down firmly, heat it up, clamp it down overnight. I wouldn't trust it at the bottom of your pool though. :)

+Dan Whyty The safest alternative is to buy a full screen with digitizer and LCD and replace it that way. If only your digitizer is broken, not the LCD, you can do a separation which would mean removing the broken digitizer from the LCD and replacing it with a new one. More complicated, but a lot cheaper. There are some videos on it, using LOCA glue and so on.
could you kindly share the temperature settings for the heat air reworking used for removing the back ? should it be 200degrees or 300degrees ? I think many guide lack of such information despite they all mention that heat air rework is easy but they left out the temperature settings which is the most important. Too high it'll destroy the back panel..

I cracked my screen so took it to shop they fixed the screen but now The backlight doesn’t come on now and they guy said it’s not the screen but the circuit board but the back light was on before he changed the screen, how do I go about fixing this, please help
It says a "digitizer" is needed to remove the screen in a different source but is that essentially the same as applying heat? So a dryer can be used instead?? it seems so in this video but just making sure..

I have a z3. The back cover got cracked and I continued using it for some months. I went to a three day camping music festival and it never stopped raining for three days. The phone stopped working in my pocket. I'm guessing it is moisture damaged as my jeans were soaked and phone just stopped working. I have tried changing the battery and still not working. Do you think changing the main flex could fix this or do you think I will need a new motherboard , or is there something else ? Thanks for any advice.

I do have to give credit to Sony with their amazing screens. If you get a crack across the screen. the bottom of top half stops working. that's actually really smart to be honest. because then I can't go around and use it normally but in fact I have to change the screen
Hey, I bought a z3 compact with the screen broken, I wal told that it was 100% functional and that is not as that, the broken screen is a line that goes from the top left corner to 1/3 of the right side, the problem is that in the top right side the touchscreen doesn't respond, I don't see more damage beside this, but i want to know what parts I must change t have it 100% functional, can you guide me please?

So I was washing my Z3 , and some water got into it ( Not the first time), now all I can see is a black screen, but still hear sounds; Can you tell me what's the problem here?
Problem is that sony lies...this phone isn't waterproof... might be ok off of a rain if in your pocket, but if you go in a pool with it, you'll be lucky your screen doesn't go black on the first try. And another thing, you were washing your phone xD
have a z3 but its unable to use now. first the internet conn. and the bluetooth is not working. then after it got fixed battery started to run fast, it only take1 day to finish the battery without using it. and the other issue is difficult to get a battery replacement. now my phone is at the repair center and im considering to get new phone. in short my $700+ will soon fly away.
when I assemble my phone the screen sticks but slightly lifts. I saw in another video a guy used gorilla glue to stick the screen, what are you opinions on this? thanks

Does anyone know what's teh original double sided adhesive sony using in their phones? I don't mean precut ones, looking for exact tape as in precut dark grey adhesives.

i actually dropped my phone into water.And my phone screen doesn't turn on anymore. So I don't know if it's just my screen is broken or something else more. Is there anyway to figure out the problem(s)?????
+Eva Lee It basically has to be disassembled to diagnose. I did the same thing with mine - I went swimming and somehow water got in. I disassembled it before buying a new screen and found some water damage on the motherboard. I'm cleaning it now, hopefully that's enough to fix it. The motherboards aren't cheap - if that doesn't fix it, it's not worth fixing.
FYI everyone, the old screen flex and the main flex get brittle with age and tear easier than a thin piece of paper if you are not careful. I just needed to re-glue my screen but because I tore the flex cables, I had to buy a new screen and flex. Be very careful not to slip when unsticking the screen flex from the frame. Also, measure the thickness of the screen adhesive you use, because if it is more than 0.15mm, your screen will stick out.
