What a pass! Are the incremental times and mph coming from the track timing system or a timer inside the car? I see the read out was on his cell phone, just curious. Thanks
To be able to visually discern how much quicker he went through the middle compared to all the other front running outlaw promod trim runs we have been watching is wild. That mfer was covering ground. For a man that has made thousands of very quick runs, I would have loved to see his face when he got out on the top after being forced into that seat more than ever before
Moyer doesn't make rookie mistakes and they were there for one reason only! For the records. Shutes are deployed but, not engaged until after the quarter mile makers. Like I said the car is out of the glue and starting uphill before you hear him let off the pedal. Here's a little of what they were planning to do on January 24 with narration and this statement below tells us that they weren't at legal competition weight as they didn't scale the car before or after the pass: It was the decision of Moyer to shoot for the world records at each progressive point and the eighth-mile effort is a tantalizing hint of what may happen during the rest of the week. The current decision between Moyer and crew chief Stevens is to make a full quarter-mile attempt on Wednesday, January 24. Despite the fact the testing “week” is competition against the clock with no rules other than those involving safety equipment being observed, most teams immediately wanted to know at what weight the car was running since the car will be required to meet U.S. Street Nationals rules during the event beginning on Friday. The surprising answer came from Stevens immediately after the run. “To be honest,” Stevens admitted, “I have no idea what the car weighed on the pass. We didn’t go over the scales at all this week, and I’m more concerned with getting it down the track than anything else. We’re still running our 88mm Precision Turbo units and it’s still hooked to an M&M Turbo-Hydro 400 transmission. We made a few changes from when we ran 3.56 at 229 mph late last year but nothing major.”
My money has been on Moyer since he debuted this car and the potential was there from the last year race that Micke was showing. It was only a matter of time. How Awesome! Congrats Moyer & Team!!!!!!
When he started going 1/8 speeds that no longer made your eyes wide over Micke’s rvw BDM runs and Thorne’s pdra runs, I knew he was gonna do something wild. But to come out and find 2 tenths over the PLR boys, that’s ridiculous
This is absolutely insane. To take 2 tenths off the Proline boys and Micke’s incredible run so shortly after they did it makes it more wild. Wasn’t years, where strides had been made in all the systems that propel and manage these cars, no they run 2 tenths faster, where each tenth gets exponentially further away the quicker you go, with the same-ish stuff (relative) or options available to PLR/Mark. Savage
To be fair they knew they had quite a bit left in it with Marks car too they didn't want to hurt anything before the weekend so they only push it as far as they had to... It's going to keep getting buried watch
@@Braze-xxx there’s only so much lead available to have in or remove from these cars and if that was the only difference in .2 seconds at this quick I’d be even more amazed
If it's the record that I'm thinking of that they broke with Marks car they had a lot more left in it too .. this record will keep getting buried ... Imagine the days when we do in quarter mile passes in the 490s in promod trim lol we're getting to a point where slowing down is going to be the worry at certain tracks not going faster lol may have to extend some tracks if cars get that much faster for longer shut downs I'd hate to see them move from quarter mile down like top fuel cars.. quarter mile and 8th mile is so much more exciting
What is that timing they are showing in an app I've seen it before? Is it common at tracks? Is it actually the tracks timing but on the? Phone I'm wondering if it's more like a draggie.
Yup, I agree. At 233 thru the 1/8, the car was a missle, and the way turbo cars backhalf, he would've been well over 273 if he had stayed in it thru the stripe. 👍
You both are wrong! It's close but it was a full pull! Instead of watching also listen to the car. He's well past the glue on the track and past the last cone before he let off of the throttle. Watch the video again and look and listen to reference where the car is at when you hear the engine RPMS come down! Most doorslammers are turbo and 273 mph is what the previous records have been. Over the past 7 years or so the records have ranged between 265-272 MPH. That's fast as hell in comparison to watching a NHRA Pro Stock that runs 650's @ 210MPH. These Guys are professionals and don't shut-off early as they were there specifically to break the records
@@Braze-xxx nope. Broke it down frame by frame in the video taken close to the 1/4. He was out of it and coasts right after pulling the chutes. Not to mention the chutes were out before the 1/4 mph cone
i still rememeber picking up DRAGWEEK magazine 1988 when Tommy Howes went 6.99 in a blown Nissan 300 ZX ....now look at this, doorslammers nudging a 4 second pass. This sport mazes me.
The scoreboards were moved for their upcoming race in a couple of weeks they’re working on getting them running, Bradenton Motorsports Park has a timeslip app that shows you the slip.
5 years minimum. Not many brave souls are going to attempt that. I'm sure NHRA was not too pleased with a door car running a 5.14 on one of their sanctioned tracks either.
As much as that car was absolutely moving down the track, well see once on the score boards how true it is. There will be no letting off in qualifying and Eliminations. They just happen to be doing work on the timing system when this run happened. Only more runs will tell
Agreed but pro stock is where this all began. Guys like Bill Kuhlman, Tony Christian, Rickie Smith decided to put big inch nitrous motors in their pro stock cars back in the late 80’s and have some fun. Little did they know where it would end up. Mid-low 5 second passes in the 1/4. Bad ass!
Scoreboards were moved and the track was in the process of getting them up and running, Bradenton Motorsports park has an app that shows you the ET so that’s what they were waiting for and checking on their phones.
What is the black gentlemans name? He helped me out years ago at Ducks race and i never knew his name. He is a very nice guy, and very talented with turbo pro mods.
The wheel speed they’re getting out of this car and the power they’re making and applying is unfuckinbelievable!!! 🤯 This is EPIC!! Congratulations!! Damn.. 🤣🤣🤘
