Wow, I get more and more impressed every time I poke my head in to see how you guys are doing with this game. It looks so much better than even just a few months ago! Keep up the good work, I can't wait to play!
Ship to ship combat is going to be a key element in this game. It was fun to see at least one or two cannonball impacts. At some point I remember someone mentioning that they would introduce electronics and circuits and such into the game, and I would like to see someone set up a broadside of 5 or 8 guns and fire them all at the same time. =D Bet that would cause some real damage.
What's the song in the first part called? I've heard similar songs and always find them to be extremely calming and they help me to concentrate on things. Love the aesthetic it helps give the game.
So when can I support this in the steam store? It's the end of the year and i'm sure it was said this was going to be an early access game that works like the Minecraft content model.
A lot of the strong ships these days in beta are small or medium sized and quite fast, huge ones normally tank a lot of hits but aren’t as mobile and agile EDIT: Also you can no longer have multiple atlas cores on a ship, you have to upgrade your single atlas core.
Frame rates are pretty low actually, even in the island creator. There's not a whole lot of sense optimizing until the game is pretty much in its finished state, and these are probably clips from the latest alpha. Also, it is going to be released on Steam's early access, known for presenting buggy, not quite yet ready for release software at slightly reduced prices as a way to actually make money playtesting rather than having to pay people to sit around and play an almost finished game. So it may well be released still a bit choppy in the fps department.
Yep. The FPS sucks. Not sure how familiar you are with software development, but the reality is that optimization for graphics is pretty much the last step before release. They pushed back release to next quarter, and if I were betting I'd say they do not mean "January of next quarter". They have been made painfully aware by the community that the fps is insufferably low. I think they will get that fixed somewhere during the pre-release. It's coming out on the Steam testing whatever... you know how that goes. Still, I hope the price of it during that last phase might be reduced. I'll end up playing it regardless.
Boss, the draw distance of our game looks absolutely awful, should we optimize it and make it look beter? - Nah, just use fog instead. Make it as foggy as you can.
