I am also so glad I kept checking in on the game. I'm 17 now, but I never forgot faking sick in elementary school to build my ship and try and get past the walls. It was so peaceful sitting on my ship in the middle of the sky, and the rush from finding another player was wild. I am thrilled there is a new hope.
I was not expecting this in the slightest. Was just talking to my friends about what Worlds Adrift was and instead stumbled upon this bombshell I somehow missed. I. Am. So. Ready.
I've never played World's Adrift, but I was regularly watching IGP's playthrough of this and really enjoyed my time. So when I heard the news that it closed, I was very sad
I have hope. For me worlds adrift was not about the mmo aspects. It was about the experience of going through these old ruins miles away from anyone else it was so lonely. But it was so beautiful
Fuck, instantly teared up the moment i saw this video on my feed and watched just the first like 3 minutes seeing that there was hope. I had been falling voids adrift for a bit now and was bummed but still has some hope for something in a few years, but to see bossa back just really got me happy.
Thank god. I feel like everyone has had the same experience as me, being that they came back a few times throughout the years to check in on it cuz it gave me w weird feeling when I was a lil kid
Im realy looking forward to being able to play a game like this again. Every so often I play the Island Creator to just dive in to those memoris i made playing worlds adrift.
I was an island creator and alpha tester for Worlds Adrif. I did not follow WA News and Bossa for a while. It looks like I have to join some discord Server in the near future. Thx for this video.
The thing is, I’d pay an mmo subscription to have it keep running that’s how much I loved worlds adrift. Assuming it wasn’t more than like 10-15 a month
Honestly I would kinda feel the same way, although it probably comes down to what the majority of ppl would do. I can’t think of a structure of game where that has worked in the past (at least off the top of my head) so it might be a risky gamble if they did go that route. although I could certainly see there one day being a format of server implementation from community members and coders that would allow for servers to be possibly made, just not run by devs, and assuming that the game was even at all optimized for that possible implementation.
Great video man, this is a good introduction to those that are not familiar with WA. And should give a great insight into were Lost Skies has its roots
ive seen good progress with the server emulation project. i played it too but it was an older build but from what ive seen now they recently got the ability to save characters, storm walls and are working on the shipyards!
I agree that it is the right move to start with a fully polished game with just local multilplayer to begin with. It may not be promised at this point, but that doesn't mean the mmo and pvp aspects of Worlds Adrift can't be added to Lost Skies post launch.
I bought this game for myself and a friend, but his computer didn't support the game, I didn't play and waited.... We played very little with him, it was unplayable for him and I fell in love with the game. He upgraded the computer, but the game had already closed. Lost Art.
I know it's a year later, but I just have to add my 2 cents. It seems Lost Skies is progressing well (for any who haven't been to their discord.) Also, many people refuse to say that a huge reason Worlds Adrift failed is because the game became over run with massive pirate gangs who would just attack everyone, press them into service, rinse and repeat. No matter how many players would complain to the company about it, nothing would be done, because most of the devs were in these pirate gangs. They bled players like water from a basket, and no one was inviting their friends to play. Sales dropped through the floor, and the game stopped being profitable. In addition, all of their fixes were bandaids, and daily server maintenance was labor intensive, and disruptive to game play, but mandatory just to keep the game from eating themselves alive with all manner of issues. Also, the devs put more energy into making new features, like drunk physics, than into fixing bugs. I pray that Lost Skies is more stable, and just as awesome in terms of the world and environment. I also pray that they're able to make it at least somewhat MMO, so we can meet new people in the game some how... hopefully not all pirates.
I never got to play worlds adrift but man I loved the concept. Glad to hear they didn't give up on it. Now if you'd excuse me I got a discord server to join right away
Worlds adrift was so fucking fun. It would give us so much thrill me and my buddy seeing another player ship. It would take hours to encounter one and would give us options if we wanted to attack them or not.
when you boil it all the down the fun parts of the game were -swinging and traversal -ship design combat -exploring somewhere new I think the biggest hindrances on the game were -including highly physics based objects other than core objects (broken parts, un-mined rocks, old ships need to just despawn) -griefers like other players and mantas (Lost sky's will fix this mostly with just having it be local) -boring wait times between islands (adding more things to do on ships like map plotting. tending to food gardens. being able to work on new ships designs. ETC. would help bridge the boredom) if bossa just hones in on what made the game great, and seconds everything else that makes the game dysfunctional I think lost Skies will turn out great.
Is this for real im about to cry seriously i remember this very fondly o thought i never got far in this game it was everything i ever wanted i don't no what else to say.
I'm so glad the game has returned the reason it died was because of a toxic youtuber who made a community who went around hunting people who weren't in his clan killing them and forcing them to join his clan or loss all their progress he grew his clan massively and they spread all over the game killing new players ruining their experience
I have never been able to play this game and wished beyond hope that it would return. I’ve been following a similar game voids adrift which is a spiritual successor. But being there has lead me back to here. I hope the Voids teams work doesn’t go to waste if bossa gets back up and running.
Only problem there is , it isn't going to server based where u could find random players and be able to pvp, which sucks but the 6 player adventure and fighting giants still seems fun but online def made it fun
Are they still going to have a community island creator? I never got to play Worlds Adrift because I didn't have a strong enough pc but I loved watching streams and videos of people playing it. I'm super excited to get a chance to play the game.
I hope it doesn't just become a Sea of Thieves in the sky, sometimes those small lobbies feel empty, but with the wind walls maybe they can keep up the perception that you are not in small lobbies of people in a big world by joining other lobbies with fresh and new people.
Yea I’ve seen some of his videos, he’s got very good aim it seems like, I’m sure that the new hosting format for Lost Skies will bring in a lot of players that don’t want that intense pvp experience, though my personal hope is that they later include the option for player hosted large servers run by company’s or Bossa, similar to like Rust or Minecraft just so players have the option of pvp or not
Yea I can feel that, thankfully it seems the devs have of ton of new additions to their game that will make sure that’s not a problem, only time will tell tho 🤷
Bossa: we're going to stop developing worlds adrift Players: could you make it open source so the we can continue it ourselves? Bossa: No. Players: Could you keep the servers open? Bossa: No. Players: Will you let us host our own servers? Bossa: No. Bossa themselves have said that worlds adrift was nothing but an investment opportunity. I just feel disappointed that a seemingly nice developer would do something so scummy. And I feel sorry for the people that put effort into this game and actually cared about it. DONT TRUST BOSSA
Bossa didn't say "No" to that stuff. They legally couldnt, the spatialOS the game was built on was licensed to them by a company and was entirely proprietary. That company killed SpatialOS and in doing so killed WA by proxy. Bossa had effectively no control in the death of WA.
Game died for me when Bossa took a select group of 30 people to be the voice of the community on the game and utterly ignored everyone else. From that we got fleets of assholes sitting waiting for anyone sorry enough to fly thru a sand-wall. I had tossed the game to the trash long before they just shut it down.
@@WAdrift I remain hopeful! Until then my airship itch is being scratched by a little hidden gem called Airmen on steam, solo dev indie game, small but nice community
Yea on their site it says that the issue with doing so was that worlds adrift was fully integrated into the proprietary tech of spatial OS and since they would have to individually extract the assets and restructure the game to do so, they just couldn’t afford to go through all that when the game had already ended and already were bleeding money, theoretically they could have done it but I believe it wouldn’t be worth the time or effort to go about doing so at that time.
I believe I’ve read somewhere on a Reddit post they said they would do something for people who did play worlds adrift, but it wasn’t specified, likely since it’s still too far out from release to make plans
I dont really like the sound of the island's being closer together because it's more fun when it's all air combat and when it's you only visist the islands when you need to gather materials, i really hope this game ends up like a genshin impact type game with a air ship building system.
That makes sense, I suppose for now we can't be too sure how they will do it, but id imagine they would keep relatively similar to how worlds adrift did it.
ok yeah im excited fact its coming back but ya yeah !! but ya know what WHAT ABOUT For THE REST US ALREADY PAID FOR A GAME and got shafted!! what go pay for something we should already have?
@@OwOBlue0w0 I apologize then but as of now, my roomate has told me that he is in need of a paid position so he wont be able to help with your project unfortunately, I do wish you the best in its development though, and if you ever need someone to help test play and give a review on things I am more than happy to oblige. I will be on the lookout If I do find someone able to help out with your project as well!
Zero chance PvP on a large scale won't be a part of Lost Skies. I mean c'mon, the game (fundamentally) is Rust + Sea Of thieves + Z axis. Now, when? I have no f***ing clue.
Race? It's not a race, Voids Adrift is/was being built as an MMO, Lost skies is not an MMO. Huge difference there. But why give more money to Bossa for Lost Skies when they already mismanaged WA early access funds? Also, WA was never officially launched as you said, it was released as an early access game, unfinished. Even now, on their defunct steam page it is listed as Early Access... they *never* finished it so they should have had no expectation of fiscal viability until well after a launch. They never even gave it a chance by launching it. And now they want money for Lost Skies? No. As far as I'm concerned, they still owe WA supporters a game.
Wait what?! It’s back? No fucking way. Edit: oh of course I was right there was “no way”. Them making a new and similar game does not mean worlds adrift is back.. the new game lost skies is a an incredibly nooby and boring cooperative only game with 6 players max per server.. incredibly lack luster and incredibly disappointing.
Look man, im sorry to say it. And dash peoples hopes. But Voids Adrift is at best a pipe dream by someone with no prior gsme dev experience. At worst its a scam. Zavii (head of zavinet) has lied about financial assets in the past in order to get devs to work on va for him. Additionally several of the former devs have had nothing positive to say about the management, leadership, or organization of the project. Essentially saying that there was no leadership or progress whatsoever for extended amounts of time
Meh. 1-6 player cooperative survival? No thanks. I want massive open world, with pvp when I choose it. Plus Bossa Studios? Never again. Fuck em for closing WA to begin with and making utterly dumb choices (SpatialOS? Really?) in it's development.
