Same here been roofing for 13 years now and must say these guys are good shit. We are built different and take pride in our work that's why we always think about roofs. This crew is one the only people doing it right on RU-vid
@@NWIVeteranConstruction when your doing one half of the roof and Boycub is doing the other side, and you’re both shingling from the eave to the ridge….how is the “point” where you meet Boycub supposed to look? I finally finished the rental house and now the top point (where two opposing planes meet) looks like overlapped granule portion of the shingle. I used GAF NS charcoal color and the exposed part of the shingle spans the ridge. Do I just conceal it with charcoal ridge cap shingles? Thanks
1 time i fell But landed on my feet. Another time I jumped because I knew I was gonna go off. Also landed on my feet that was only about 8 ft so I didn't really care if I fell. I was working on granules on plywood n a bee tried to sting my junk. Wasn't careful. Other 3 falls were ladder related. You have no control falling off those things so that sucks. I Landed on my back/ elbow once from 9 ft
Veteran Construction ain’t that something. I heard my dad telling stories about roofers teaching greenhorns how to “properly fall off a roof.” Maybe this could be a video idea. I’ve been lucky to only have fallen off a roof once. I was doing gutter cleanings in the fall. Lost traction on a wet spot and landed on a backpack blower. Thankfully, the customer was an attorney so he’s helping me sue. Lol.
Hey brother! Roofer in training here in Louisville. Love watching your videos, your process is completely different from what we do here but I enjoy your work. Keep the videos coming!
Nice video, and nice shingling speed for the piddley part of the roof! You use some different techniques than myself, but it seems to work well for you. I'll have to consider the kicker shingle, as I usually spend a lot of time popping the framing nails out at the bottom of the valley so I can slide my shingle and ice/shield in 6" or so. Side tip, but this year was the first year I got an Equipter, and it is absolutely the best investment ever! Nevermind that It's equivalent in labor saving to a full time labourer, but it's worth it for the advertising alone! With a heloc my financing comes to $116 CDN a month! There is a reason nobody who owns one complains about it.
For that price you do a good shingle roof with all ice and water then the next week you put on a regular old ribbed steel roof no leaks as long as your breathing and the roof has not been hit by a tornado.and still have 30 grand left for a new truck
Can you explain why you did the valley here the same way boy cub was doing it on his return video (and you tore of and did the opposite)? Is it because the dormer roof is the same pitch as the main roof? Did you do the other side of this dormer the same way or did the dormer shingles extend first onto the main roof? So confused right now 🤔
So, most valleys are done this way... where that valley line goes above the ridge... because you want to run your lower slope first. The one with boycub was weird because there was a pitch change. The reverse gable peak was steeper than the pitch it died into. If you're looking to see typical valleys, you can see 2 more on my page. One is it's own video, and the other is in the 2 hour long video, there's a time stamp on the description or Comment section
My Mrs cousins man fell off a roof yesterday working he fractures his spine broke his ribs his eye socket and had a bleed to the brain along with a fractured skull hes in a medically induced coma for 9 days don't think he will ever be the same again .. because he never wore any safety gear whilst on roof take it from me dude its all fun and games till it happens to you he has a 1 year old son
6:55 a better way to do that is no flashing there just take some soffit off and make sure your shingle is pushed all the way back and run it up to your dormer, then do your valley.
I'm glad to see another use a shingle as a straight edge to cut your gable. Looks nice and clean man! Probably faster without a tosser though. And much respect but do you not use step flashing ? Take care man
40% 10.85. Run is 26ft.but minus 6 ft for the flat.deck 74 inches. True 2 inch main beam.its not a traditional hip got that flat at the top chimney in middle common rafter i believe is 11 ft make one intresting video
@@yewarrhorez idk lmao I drew the one in Afghanistan and said if I make it out alive I'm getting it. The other someone else drew after I picked everything out. Got the first piece done 7 hours straight
@@NWIVeteranConstruction One is on your arm and one is on your chest right? I haven't gotten a clear look at either. See this is why I wanted you to do a video and then I can hear about your bravery in Afghanistan :)
Can you do a video of how to do roof penetrations, such as pipes, turbans, and vents? I know how to do them, I just would like some tips to be more efficient. I love your videos by the way, I've learned a lot from you and I've made a lot of progress in a very short amount of time, so thank you for your effort
i've got 2 videos involving vents and i have a 2 hour video with pipes and furnace stacks. i believe i put the time stamps in the 2 hour one to help you guys navigate
The gang is back together. You can tell he knows how you like things now. Probably best that he left for awhile, got some confidence, and also realized the grass isnt always greener.
i was figuring we wouldn't do it coz the rona and elections lol but if you n your boss are down i'll put it together. i'll just need a few more. wouldn't mind doing a small one the first year and get bigger after that
Man faster than me I get my tape out measure each end cut then square the line up with scissors then cut it lol (2 minutes later) I can’t do carpentry anymore my back is so bad!
Too much of a rush job, yet too slow in some areas. Try to get smoother and you got it. Get your hander to think ahead or get him shingling another slope.
@@NWIVeteranConstruction what lol I'm 31 years old roofing since I was 14, owned my own buissness since 20 in canada, I've never sub or sub out, just remember if you sub for work you still are making someone else rich, just like working by the hour, the best quote for like is be a follower or be a leader, I'd rather be a leader it is what I do and put food on peoples tables that follow me
I said subbed to my channel. Always got something to say. What's wrong worry it since you didn't bother mentioning. And don't say it's coz you do it different lmao
youre a savage like me on a roof, i learned alot of tricks from you. how can you stand working so hard while ur guys just hang around, you would easily profit 200k in a year if you went solo. no bullshit
lol i probably come close to making that with them. i could make 500k easy if i just subbed it out for 90 a sq on walkers. i'd rather show people because i'm thankful someone showed me.
Im in southwest michigan, when i do sub work for a bigger company i get 160 per square, stripped and shingled, they provide material. 1 layer. Does this sound like your area too?
Only thing missing is tweaker brad hanging over your shoulder telling his stories at a mile a second. Glad to see the cub is out of the pen! Has he been demoted to tosser?
He's not a tweaker he's done nothing more than we all have lol and nah boycub was shingling there just really wasn't anywhere else for him to shingle coz what was left was super tricky
Interesting that hidden shingle u use to start the valley..never seen that done before.i might steal this from you. I like it better then cutting my shingle and wrapping it up then I run a tin in the valley. Really good idea u have
yes sir. remember the part of the video where i said something about the lines i'm following? i'm already making one. just posted this because its more fun and was an easy edit. that ones for sunday
haha some day soon we will see! I'd like to think I'm top 5 to ever do it but I'm definitely not as motivated as I have been in the past. there was a time a few years ago I'd bet everything I own that nobody couldn't beat me on a 20 sq. side gable to gable. but i do have a 80 sq job coming up and i would like to shingle the gravy side by myself. i assume its around 25 sq. i know i'd finish it but the problem is its at least a 7 pitch
@@NWIVeteranConstruction lol I was just giving you some shit. You knock shit out man, I roof all day and then most days watch whatever new content you have out. I actually started cutting my racks the way you do, normally we bump the step out over the rake and cut it off, but I have to say your way is faster and easier.
You got boy cup throwing shingles all that does is slow you down ,i don't like that when my workers do that i just tell them go do something more productive. Doesn't mean I don't like your videos always watch them
His employees probably know how to do it. There isn't a problem with bosses working, I'd rather work for someone who's actually working with me rather than me doing all the work and him getting 90% of the paycheck. Especially for a smaller business
I don't mind being here really.. my guys know what they're doing but we have a schedule to up keep and now i've got to film videos as well. so even if i was to get off the job completely and stay on the business side i would have to come back for videos lol i'm doomed to the roof. time for me to accept it
