Ok everyone let’s settle the worse/worst situation. Worse is used in a sentence to compare 2 things for example; “Twitch is worse than RU-vid” Worst would be used as an end all be all as in “this is the worst thing I’ve seen in my life” So in this case the title should be “Worse than” as it is asking a question in comparison to another thing.
Yes, who debated this? I’m missing vital context! 😂 Twitch would indeed be WORSE than RU-vid in that sentence. The main issue here is the American use of “end all be all”! It’s one of my pet peeves, it should be “be all and end all” Something needs to “be” before it can “end” and it also originates from Shakespeare. As an Englishman I lay claim to these words in this particular order! 😂 🏴 …oh, also yes that would be the “worst” thing if you got proven wrong by an Englishman such as me 😝 I think I have covered the question, I shall flee back to my castle now 🏰
Thank you! I remember learning that in our English subject when I was in like 7 or 8 years old. As an adult, I am truly disappointed by people whose first language is English, yet they don't know the proper use of worse and worst like what the hell?
Oh ok, same here but wasn’t sure if that’s what it meant. Itchy hands, stepping over legs, broken mirrors, I heard them all through out my childhood. Believe most of them during my childhood. That and zodiac signs
Still can't believe Oda gave us backstory for Arlong, some dude we beat a million years ago, and it actually made perfect sense and gave his character way more depth. The mad lad.
If we're being fair, he gave backstory to Arlong because it can fit into the backstory for the fishmen. The eternally wild thing is Oda is always full on "You know that thing from xxx chapters ago? Yeah, I remember that. Much like the manga panel (I think it made it into the anime somewhere too) where when you can see the unholy "mermaid" Luffy imagines with the fish top and human legs identical to what he envisioned when being told about them.
@@PatrickDaviswimiwamwamwazzle yes his motives are hollow but arlong still won't kill his crewmates cuz in arlong park he is shocked to see his crew being slashed by zoro, which is something hordy won't do.
@@PatrickDaviswimiwamwamwazzle Aarlong loved his crew, he respected and protected them even. Fishman always being mistreated and seen as less is a pretty reasonable reason to dislike humans. It's trauma. I don't think it's hollow, it's more of an inner battle. Arlong could not bring himself to even like humans, learning to accept that a species that has done nothing but show its bad side, does in fact have good in it too. It's not something you want to see in a monster. You don't want to learn that your monster has "humanity", or a life, or people that care about it. It's an inner battle. If humans did not exist, Arlong would likely be a good guy. Humans are monsters to other species, Arlong was a monster to humans. For the most part, Humans ignore when the things we destroy show signs of having a soul/feelings/intelligence/purpose outside of what we need it for. Hordey does not have that problem, he was simply fueled by empty hate because he grew up hearing about the bad. His motives are hollow, but it's intended like that. At least that is what I think.
Surprisingly - yes, he's worse than Arlong. a) apart from a few fights Arlong didn't go around deliberately harming his fellow fishmen - and was horrified when Luffy used one of his men to defend himself when Arlong was using his teeth to attack him as opposed to Hordy deliberately grabbing one off his men and using them as defence b) even though Arlong didn't train himself to make himself stronger (which is why most people agree he wouldn't have lasted long outside the East Blue), he wasn't stupid enough to play with steroids
@@UltimateGamerCCEven with Drugs if this fight was to happen on surface, Zoro would have bodied hordy. Luffy struggled because he had to fight under water
I mean I don't believe anyone should ever forget the problems of the past, but that remembering the problems of the past should be used to create a peace and to ensure that the problems of the past won't be repeated in another way, not to create more problems.
It’s such a joy to watch you get to parts of the story that connect to past arcs that connect to other past arcs 😭😭 I can’t wait for the next segment..hope you have your tissues
The own thing I will say arlong was bad but even arlong didn't harm his own Fishmen. He even called them brother well keeping his ideals when he accidently hurt his own he was very furious with luffy for putting the fishman as a shield. Arlong is a lot of things but he nowhere near as bad as hordy. I think arlong would've thrown hands at Hordy especially seeing him use his subordinate as a shield that would of crossed a huge line. He may hate humans but what he can't do is harm his fellow fishmen without a form of reason but even still he doesn't like to.
4:33 It is a trope in Japan that when people are talking about you behind your back, you will get shivers ans sneeze. Lots of anime uses this for gag jokes :D Nami's story being relevant 500 chapters later is such an cool thing they did within this arc~ Never forget you roots, but keep evolving into your better self!!!☀❤✨
30:56 That scene is basically symbolic of an even called Fumi-e test Basically having a picture of a leader or revered figure on the ground and asking people to stomp on it If they do they pass If they don't their faith or allegiance is doubted It was apparently used to sort out christians in Japan back then during Shogun eras
31:50 Just some interesting/gruesome historic info about the picture stepping of Queen Otohime: "During the Edo period, the Tokugawa shogunate outlawed Christianity and required suspected Christian adherents to step on and dishonor the image on the fumi-e in order to prove that they were not followers of the forbidden foreign religion. Refusal was punishable by death." Oda draws inspiration from anywhere it seams 💀💀💀
I remember everyone was SHOCKED at that Zoro vs. Hordy fight when that chapter hit the net. At this point the SH just got back together and the Fishman Island arc had a lot of homages to the Arlong Park arc but redone. The fans thought Zoro vs. Hordy was a reference to Zoro vs. Arlong and how many fans at the time argued Zoro could have beat Arlong if not injured. This time people thought Zoro actually killed the strongest big bad of the arc early. No Luffy involved, it felt like the Strawhats really were on a completely other level.
The serotonin I get when I see your notification pop up on my phone is unmatched. ☀️ The pacing of this arc is rough.. Hordy is awful but the story is truly sad from their perspective.
One great thing about One Piece is that everything leads to everything else. There are times that it can be episode 1000 and it references something from episode 60.
"You cant change peoples minds, they have to want to change it themselves." I agree with that statement, but thats also why Luffy exists because he kicks everyones ass who doesnt want to change lol
This arc really tackles a lot about the themes of racism and we can see why fishman would feel the need for superiority when they're overtly discriminated on the surface They don't even discriminate based on appearancees among themselves as they're all born different. Which shows how the real rift might be in ideology. Caribou might be annoying but he's a clear symptom of how little value the surface has for them and just see them as merchandise he can pick up Whitebeard's a legend for protecting the island It's really incredibly written how the reveal in Sabaody that Fishmen are persecuted flips a lot of things for the viewers as you can see In Nami's Flashback they were just oppressors, subjecting humans to literal slavery But it turns out that in the grander scheme of the story and world, the oppressor is the oppressed Makes you realize why Arlong felt so much anger and pride at the difference between humans and fishmen. Oda doesn't shy away from addressing heavy topics sometimes(not always greatly done) but this one seems to receive extra care i really appreciate this arc for that. Hope you enjoy the rest of it too
Hey do you have like a PO Box cause I would love to send you some drawings of you !!! Thanks for the content I absolutely love it Imstead of rewatching one piece I’ve been rewatching it with you such a better expireince we love you queen ❤❤
5:44 Remember. there haven't been many types of edible fish in the episodes so far, but many types of fish-men appear on Fish-Man Island. This is connected to what Zeff once said, "I saw the potential of All Blue over there." Also, during a conversation between Garp and Roger, Roger said: He says something similar to "A child who is born is not guilty."
Hey Queen, I hope you're doing well. Great reaction as usual. That scene with Hordy and his friends getting attacked by humans was an Anime-Only scene. Keep note of it. This is going to cause some contradictions the further we get into the arc. The New Fishman Pirates forcing the islanders to step on the image of the late queen is based off an actual event that happened in ancient Japan. When the shogunate outlawed Christianity, they made people step on the image of Jesus. If they didn't, there were consequences.
I noticed a few times that you have wondered about the sneezes! It's from the saying, "If you sneeze, that means someone is talking about you. " Or something along those lines!
I think it's interesting that Hordy used one of his own men as a shield. I never noticed that before, but Oda used that to show a major difference between him and Arlong using the exact same Straw Hat. When Zoro escaped from Arlong Park, the Fishmen he knocked out caused Arlong great distress. Arlong will let his crew fight beside him, but he hates when they get taken out. He'd never use them as a shield. So to answer your question, yes. Hordy is worse than Arlong. Hordy has a fundamental misunderstanding of Arlong's philosophy.
"WHY!?!?" yup, time for some sad story beats next video. as far as your question on pacing, it does suck quite a bit in Fishman Island, but there is an arc later on that lasts like what feels like 90+ episodes. i cant say much now, but we'll get into it when we get into it. until next time.
I feel like this is leading to a strawhat intervention for Choppers little drug habit. Listen Chopper we know you can quit at any time. So why not now?
we finally got the Toei classic shining through, the pacing, and the 30 seconds of panning between reactions, the most frustrating part about watching OP
This is such a small thing BUT I feel it’s really important. The 1000 Sunny is built from the treasure tree ADAM. And the fishman island gets light from the Sunlight tree EVE. Adam and Eve…: just saying, biblical things at work.
9:40 This might seem weird as a suggestion but it's important to understand this arc That flashback scene doesn't exist in the manga, the original source And it's better to disregard it I don't know why the anime added it in, i guess to make it more dramatic but there was no such event regarding Hody's character 😅 Hody taking admiration on Arlong is factual tho
11:30 yup, that's what Arlong was doing back in episode 40 when he looked like he was just throwing water. 12:08 Arlong would NEVER 33:17 Episode 31 I paused this and went back to watch it I recently got caught up to the manga so I am going over EVERYTHING again. No spoilers just stating my plan. 🤫
I feel bad for the soldiers being beaten up by the crew. They're not bad guys.they're just afraid from their history of humans and then further fueled by Madam Sharley's prophecy.
Hey queen or editors. just as a slight suggestion. the next roughly 400 episodes have more and more egregious amounts of Filler and not the type where there is silliness happening, jokes, or minor characterization or alright sub arcs. no i mean loooong panel shots and drawn out intros. So i have to mention a very cool project called "One Pace". Some Fans sat down together to deal with it. While i personally dont have any problems with filler pre Time skip it really gets on the nerves from here on out so id atleast suggest you or someone you trust check it out and recommend their edited footage to save time for Queen while retaining enjoyment. Doesnt mean its the same given she doesnt have to wait for weeks for next to no progress like long term fans but still i propose it just as a side option.
One Pace can be good especially for early post TS but i'd ultimately recommend sticking to the regular anime as they often try to make it 1:1 of the manga missing the point of an adaptation Also it's really not that bad that it should get on anyone's nerves as we literally still get the edited content More recent arcs have way too many great butchered scenes on One Pace's behalf just because it's not ''faithful'' to the manga or not included When the anime does exactly what it should do best Expand on elements that won't always get shine Also she's binging it so there shouldn't be an issue overall
can't wait for her to find out that ***** is ****, **** is the **** of ******, and that the *** that appears in chapter *** is actually a ****** from ******
Can't get into specifics yet. But even from what you've seen so far, Hordy is definitely worse than Arlong. And boy, the upcoming flashback is something else. Probably the best thing from this arc.
Ah yes, the new world and new animation brings reanimated trauma!...Why!? We're finally getting the whole story of the different fishmen incidents/struggles the crew has had to face. On the other side the generational hatred/slavery the fishmen have also had to endure (sounds familiar...), you might need tissue. At least we got Zoro being cool and Sanji being...Sanji before that lol. Thanks for the video!
