The hate Frampton gets is baffling, he nullified their most important player for 3 quarters. The disrespect to Harris Andrews as well. That dude is crucial for the Lions and ol mate Billy did a damn good job for someone who is a fringe player with no final experience and missed many games leading up to the grand final. I dunno I feel modern footy fans forget the little things that drive a team to victory. The coaches know it, the players know it so why are the fans so far off? 1 percenters? Shit you learn this shit in aus kick ffs 😂
To think Geelong lost Shane Mumford because they had signed Blake the previous season and could not match Sydney’s 3 year offer for Mumford, thanks to the salary cap. Sydney had COLA and thus a higher salary cap back then.
I feel like Billy Frampton did try his hardest to limit Harris Andrews and him touching the ball, but late game he let off, and Harris got a whopping 7/8 interceptions
He preoccupied Andrews for long enough, but the temperature was 29C, Frampton had limited finals experience, so fatigue was always inevitably going to kick in but Frampton did tag him for long enough
I thought so too. There couldn't have been a worse and more luckier premiership player in the history of the VFL/AFL than Greg Madigan. How he got selected in such a powerful Hawthorn team I'll never know.
@@darrenmiles-morland8038 Emergency back-up for Dear in the ruck essentially, should he have gone down injured. Schwab got suspended for the Grand Final - whom he replaced; & we lost Abbot to A knee injury that season.
Don’t reckon Frampton is even close to being the worst. As you rightly point out he was given a role to do on the day and did it well. If Andrews plays the way he did against Carlton we lose. Also without Frampton holding the fort for a number of weeks in the ruck we probably wouldn’t have made top two and maybe not top four. One of only two guys on our list along with Krueger who can fill holes in the ruck, key back and key forward. Valuable player not shown enough respect especially by the fantasy footy community (for the purposes of this discussion I’ll refer to them as idiots) who have a very basic understanding of the game thinking it just about how many points you accumulate.
@@michaelhehir8116I don’t know if the concept of the defensive key forward was pioneered before the 2023 GF, but if it hasn’t, Craig McRae has invented it, and Billy Frampton is the prototype of it
D. Venables West Coast Eagles 2018. 1 kick, 3 handballs. He collided with J Kennedy in the first qtr which resulted in a Stephenson goal the did sweet fk all for the rest of the match.
I bet 3 times brownlow winner Bobby Skilten said he’d give them all up to play in a Grand Final interesting concept for a video though & I enjoyed it !
Dude you have so many losers in the comments who don't understand that a lot of these AFL videos and stats are interesting and you aren't necessarily bagging the players out. I love the people who say you can't have an opinion if you haven't played AFL and yet here they are having an opinion.
bit harsh on billy frampton given he did his job pretty well - they're not all there to kick bags... blake is also unlucky to here, but you acknowledge that [yet still include him!].
so right after mentioning that Frampton made a move to the foward line, you critise his goal kicking prior to making that move? And when you talk about Nick Blake getting a start because of Geelong's ruck injjuries, you show footage of Tom Stewart, not a ruckman, coming off the ground almost a decade later
@@Kaleen_YT yeah okay. I had to stop watching tho, because you were speaking about some players I'd not heard of and I realised that I may have been making some associative assumptions about those players and the teams they played in. Like if I didn't know the cats better I might have assumed tom Stewart's career started earlier or that Nick Blake's went longer
@@desiredrapfilms We'll just take your word for it, since you are invisible in all of your videos and we can't verify. You liked my channel which is why you subbed, then you started hating it for some reason. Then you said I was 50 and now I'm 40. You're a confused little man & now stalking me 😄
@@whatthe3131 desiredrapfilms is a halfwit who doesn't know how to use grammar. He still thinks "you're" is "your" like most people of his age and brain capacity.
How is Nathan Ablett not on this list? even tho he kicked 3 goals in the 2007 grand final he had very average few years at geelong and only 2 games at gold coast
billy frampton did a great job on his player he did what was needed and he has a medal around his neck to prove it you are way of the mark bagging billy ginavin was the weak link on gf day
He was made to look good by one of the greatest midfield groups in the history of the game. Anyone in this comment section would be able to match his 2007 goal tally with the sort of delivery that he was getting
Great footage & research. A few fun facts. Keating bumped Darcy in the 97 prelim and didn't give away a 50 metre penalty after a shot at goal. He wore the helmet after getting beaten up on the gold coast. Sampson & Jameson only got one disposal each in the 97 GF, so they won despite 3 players getting a total of 2 disposals. Leon Davis got 0 disposals in the 2002 GF Cam Mooney got blitzed by Michael Sexton in the 99 GF which is why he was dragged, but at least helped carry Anthony Stevens off the ground with his injured ankle. Excellent video.
Shannon Byrnes was more fortunate to be in the 2007 Grand Final winning team than what Nathan Ablett was. But at least Byrnes proved his selection in the 2009 premiership winning team to be worthy.
@@alansimmonds9030 I am a Hawks supporter, so I am well aware of Buckenara's AFL career. All I did was state facts. Buckenara lasted only 5 minutes in the 1983 Grand Final because he got injured. You also forgot to mention Buckenara's 1987 Preliminary Final effort of 5 goals, including the winning goal after the siren... Chill out man and take it easy. 11 02 2024
12 Marks, 6 shots at goal for 5 goals 1. Leading goal scorer for the match. As opposed to 99’s effort. Yeah I’m saying that’s a fair redemption from an very good footballer!
I was going to mention him.He was lucky Southby and Austin were injured in both games. But he actually did a good job in '82,keeping Cloke quiet.Scott Howell was a dud who played in '81.
Daryl Freame 1980. Played 2 games that season, with those being the semi final and the grand final. Barry Rowlings and David Cloke both got injured in the qualifying final against Carlton, whilst Graeme Landy got suspended after thay game, so in comes Daryl Freame to sit on the bench for the semi final against Geelong. Paul Sarah and Bruce Tempamy go down injured during the game, so Daryl Freame comes onto the ground for his first playing minutes of the season. Most expect that he wont be needed for the grand final with Cloke and Rowlings returning from injury, until Denis Collins is dropped from the team due to missing an appointment with the club psychologist. Rather miraculously, Daryl Freame has himself a spot on the bench in the grand final. He was on the bench most of the day and racked up 2 disposals. Compared to the rest of the names in that Richmond team, he sticks out like a sore thumb
Moreton was one of the better players at the tigers and can not be blamed for how woeful they were. He kicked 41 goals from a flank. He was a good player.
I did watch it Great video But name and start of the video does not explain Cam He was 19 with few games I agree you did explain it. But I clicked it as I thought I would learn something Agree with Blake.
Billy frampton isn’t a bad player. People who dont watch collingwood games wouldn’t know. He has done a solid role especially in the grand final keeping andrews away from the ball and is becoming a solid player. Just doesn’t get the respect he deserves
@@Kaleen_YT sorry bro, im not a karen. I just felt like writing this because i was bored and i don’t really think Billy Frampton is the worst player to win a gf. He did his job. I respect what you said tho
Swans don't win that final without Morton, had a couple of huge plays. You should do most undeserved Norm Smith Medalists, JJ probably leading that list with his 2037 clangers and 20% disposal efficiency in 2016, Ryan O'keefe robbing Hanners in 2012 too
Shannon Byrnes is easily the worst player to win 2 premierships. Up to the 2007 GF he had kicked 18.36 and scored a goal from literally 1m out in the GF. In 2009 GF he also kicked a goal from in the goal square that was going through anyway.
You idiot - Shannon Byrnes doesn't play then Geelong doesn't win the 2009 Premiership - he beat his opponent in 3 key 1v1s in a very tight last quarter.
Fletcher Roberts from the bulldogs or as they called him et 8 years on the list barely played 50 games from bad form but kept buddy out of the game with that other spud Joel hamling couldn’t get a game at Geelong wins a medal at dogs thrn can’t get a game at Freo I though he retired but got named this year😂
Amusing embarrassing story: I am only 1.67m tall. Mark Blake stood too close behind me at an ATM at Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre (in Geelong). I turned around and (accidentally) headbutted him in the stomach and completely winded him. Very fortunate I wasn't a few cm shorter.
aaron keating won two flags in a week. 1st crows then my beloved redlegs. how many players have done that. oops brett james crow the norwodo same week.
Castagna was a role player - a tackling machine. His job was to ensure the ball didn't get easily transitioned into the opposition forward line. He is sorely missed.
