Worst Goat Mom! 

When goat milk has a “goaty” flavor it normally means that there is a buck housed close buy, for some reason when does are housed with/near bucks their milk will taste awful. Your Carmel might not be as hard as it’s supposed to be cause it’s not separated? Your supposed to separate it and just use the cream to make it like candy. I’ve got so much i am drowning in milk, starting next week I should be getting over 2 gallons everyday 😭. Rosie’s babies are adorable!! Still don’t think that buck is a full chamoise, was sire gold?

When does Posey’s buddy arrive? She should be fine once he or she comes. A friend always makes things better. 🙂

One suggestion if you do decide to get a cow to keep posie company. Consider a Jersey or Gurnsey cow. They generally dont get very big, plus their very gentle. When we had a farm long ago, a few times we had milk cows, just one at a time. First one we had was a Holstein we got from Aunt and Uncle. She was hard to handle. Got too hard for Mom too try and milk. The last two we owned were Guernseys. The first one, older brother and I could climb on her, and she would take us for a ride. We also later on had a Guernsey steer, that ended up as food for us. He knew his name. If he got out of the pasture, all we had to do was call his name, and he would come running.

I am still here. Our internet was out for weeks. Are the bugs the no-see-ums ? They would tear me up in Kentucky. Darn near impossible to see. Evil little monsters. I would have to use bug spray to keep them off me.

You need to get a second pig

Fact... Fresh cow milk has a much better taste then store bought milk. The milk is pasteurized so much that it takes away the true taste and natural benefits away. That is way they have to add vitamins and minerals back into it. Personally I love the milk from Hereford cattle and jerseys and guernsey's milk as well. Their milk has a higher cream factor and makes nicer butter, ice cream, and for pastries. But everyone to their own opinion. I love milk but cannot drink the store boughton stuff. Love Posie she wants human interaction. Try having a radio on for her. Ha ha your momma goat is a good mom. She just knows that she is safe and needs down time from them. The other mom that doesn't clean the little ones maybe because she not allowed to have her babies long enough. Saying that if this is the one that you have bought and was use as a dairy goat. Some people treat dairy goats like Holstein dairy cattle. I can't keep up with your info in the individual goats. I would put the horses in the goat field. This would help neutralize the soil. I have found that animals will not eat where the bathroomed. They will eat where others have went. They also are not keen on eathing where cats and dogs have gone. Also I have learnt that rats love dog poop. Im not sure about horse or goat poop. But to my thinking and poop with meat byproducts in it they are prone to. Or have a high levels of grain that hasn't been properly digested. Mice on the other hand love grain. That is way I let my hens go all over the farm. They clean up all wasted grain and parasites out of poop. We allowed our pigs and chickens in our manure pile. It help turn the pile for mulching plus it help keep down any kind of insects. Our pigs rolled in it and made a cool or warm shelter in it depending on the time of season. Summer time it was to coat the skin with dirt to act as a sunscreen. We also make a mud bath area for them for sunscreen and to cool off in the summer. Some light colour or skin equines do the same. Dust and dirt wards off sun and bitting insects. It the time of season that a daily tick check. We do our checking 3 times a day where they are keep by wood, fences, and trees. If they are out in open pasture then twice a day. Due to the fact they hang around where the have shade. The the guinea hens that always out. They know where the best eating is. I wouldn't worry to much about it. They know where shelter is and if not they will roost in the trees away from ground predators. This is way our Lord gave birds and poultry wings to flee and beat predators. Saw a goose beat a fox when he tried to steal a Gosling. Sorry long winded again. Oh almost forgot. The number of horses that you have will not cut up your large field that much. The ground will flatten out with all the rain keeping the ground moist. The only place you may have is at the gate and where they hang out. The ground always seem to settle back into place.
