Funnily enough it's actually a super apt name. Imagine the irony of feminists adopting the Medusa as a symbol for 'female rage', when it originally stands for 'the ugly and venomous parts of women' capable of rendering the male potential inert; something to be slain and defeated by a (male) hero.... so basically feminists are saying they are the ugly and venomous part of the female gender and they're to be slain and defeated by a righteous (male) hero.. ^_^ It's sad yet funny at the same time...

Well I looked into it.. Medusa makes a vow to Athena to be a celibate priestess, only to then screw Poseidon, marry him & break her vow to Athena causing the ol' snake head situ. She seems to serve as a warning not to use ones beauty as a weapon, as doing so is ugly. Disney obviously amalgamated it into their version of "The Little Mermaid." Ursila the sea witch represents Athena & her octopus legs are the upside-down head of Medusa😉
