Mine as well! I loved watching his analyses on rappers and how the videos were broken down into various segments. Honestly I think rap has just died ever since COVID so there just isn't a lot of content anymore (well, that and all of the famous trappers either dying or going to jail). Ice Spice is the female DaBaby. Suddenly explode one year and get featured everywhere because your flow and personality seems fun, fresh, and new, then immediately fall off because you never change things up. Oh, and finding yourself in spots of controversy doesn’t help.

I decided to listen to a bit of sexxy red just to compare and I agree. Her voice just isn't it at all, at least Ice Spice doesn't sound that grating. There was only one song out of the 4 I listened to that wasn't horrible, the rest were just... indescribable. At least you can describe Ice Spices music whether you think it's good or not. I have absolutely no words for Sexxy Red.
She came in with a spark. I support her - from my time in Riverdale, Bronx. She shot that Munch video in a park off Jerome Ave. I think her little brother is a star QB at a prep school in New Rochelle. She is what she is. A fun rapper and not necessarily a lyricist. For me, it is very interesting how Chicago Drill rap has taken over the scene, even in The Bronx, which is the birthplace of rap. *I move between both CHI and NYC.
Ice Spice has a nice sounding voice, but similarly to you said, to me it just sounds like she’s just seductively whispering the lyrics as if she’s doing ASMR videos. I also wish that her songs just did not all sound too similar. The beats are the same and her lyrics are basically, “grah, like damn, poopy!”
I guess Ice Spice to me was a guilty pleasure because I didn't fully get the hate. She was never great, but everything before "Y2K" was fun. She knew her lane and stayed in it. I never had high hopes of her being the rapper of a generation, but she made some fun disposable party tunes. I'll agree that "Y2K" is complete garbage, but I'd still be okay putting her older stuff on a playlist.
Im a prod, i had many beats with synthetic and have talked with ven about the think u the shit song, ven did the melody, synthetic did the drums. Idk what riot did but in cdtvs opinion the best riot beat is mostly not even his
I really don’t think she’s as bad as people say she is, she’s a decent rapper to me she just has to diversify a bit and stop with the poop bars. She has some really nice bangers though
