Same. I mean I love my parents, but my dad really didn't do much to raise us except say no a lot when we asked for something. Sometimes I feel like I hardly know him, because we've never actually bonded. My mom on the other hand raised me and my three sisters and did everything in the household. For a while she didn't work, but she started doing that again after we were a bit older, because she didn't like being dependent and there actually had been very rough times when she wanted to end things but couldn't because she couldn't provide for herself. So in that way, yes, men providing for women and women being supportive helped keep them together, but she was actually unhappy during that time. Then there came a long time when she had to take care of him and they needed both incomes. I think after that my dad started treating her more as an equal and started doing some more things around the house as well. My mom felt less trapped because he no longer had control over her life by providing for her. They still had rough patches, but even though she could, she didn't leave because things were a lot better than before and they loved each other and us. That's the way it should be and because of this my mom raised us to be independent from men and to always be able to provide for ourselves. I don't know if I want to be married someday. I would if we really would be equals and we'd raise the kids together and help each other out with everything. The only reason I have doubts is because marriage doesn't seem to mean much nowadays and people just cheat and lie and get divorced anyways. I don't really need a contract to tell someone I won't cheat and treat them well and love them, so I'd probably only get married if it is really important to the guy

Definitely. Nothing wrong with WANTING to be the provider, but it definitely feels like he would push that onto her which is something she definitely DOES NOT want.
