I’d rather work with a color I hate because colors tend to grow on me, whereas I’ve consistently hated the same fibers for years 😂

I love that your husband pays attention to your knitting talk!! My boyfriend has watched me mutter to myself about my knitting while I'm trying things on in front of the mirror and he says "oh, that'll block out" 🤣🤣

I would absolutely choose "never make a mistake" over "super speedy knitting." Both would be great because I'm kind of a product knitter, but as a perfectionist, there are SO MANY UFOs in my repertoire because a mistake was made too far back to try to fix. So many abandoned projects and it's so heartbreaking.

I will 100% frog a project if the fit isn't right. I will be complaining about it for a day but I'd rather have something that fits great than a finish project I'm not going to wear. So much so that I've started marking where I'm weaving in the end with a different coloured thread looped in so it's easier to frog just in case.

I did that to a raglan sweater with too long sleeves, and I was so happy I did it because then I really got to wear it, and although I was a little scared to do it, it was great to feel that i could do it.

DPNs! I even have 2 sets of the most used size for sleeves. Speaking of sleeves, what is sleeve island? They go fast. I don't get what the issue is. The second sock also goes fast for me. It's the first sock that takes me forever because that's the one that I tweak for gauge, size, and fit. I have high arches (longer heel flap) and narrow heel (narrower heel flap) plus bunions (short row an extra inch on bunion side - it keeps the sock pattern from twisting).

I have been knitting for almost 15 years and I felt similarly about needing to belong to the Ranunculus cub. After three false starts, one finished object that ended up being completely frogged out, and now being almost finished with a t-shirt that will definitely be my final Ranunculus attempt, I can honestly say, I don't know what the big deal is with this pattern. I have learned a TON through the process of all these failed attempts though....I wish someone had reminded me at the start not to be afraid of modifying based on what you know works for you!

Oh yeah I already know I’m not going to fiddle with the CO and just do long tail 😄 I didn’t understand the hype of it either and it’s not my usual style but I guess this spring I’m interested in lace/texture! Let’s see what happens :)

You should definitely try lace pattern for the summer! I made two Ranunculus in my first two years now so I recommend it 😉 Btw i recommend steaming the yarn after unraveling, it tames the curl. You can do it with any iron with steam. Thx for the fun podcast!

I totally agree about the needle size vs yarn type. If I only knit with a size 2 needles, I think I'd be fine.

If you are working with a color you hate, you can always dye the yarn, or even the finished garment, right? For me, that would be any shade of yellow-green. But black covers everything!

I love your hair cut! I forgot to submit my question on your story! 😩 would you rather use only harvested yarn from thrifted sweaters, or never knit with natural fibers?

This was a fun video. I loved hearing your thoughts. I agree with you about plant fibers. I was thinking about trying a cotton/wool mix and see how that goes.

No! If you hate the pattern but love the yarn, at least you end up with a product that you like the yarn of and don't have to look at the pattern again. But if the yarn sucks, you're not going to want the finished product! (Me getting opinionated at six in the morning.) 😂

I dislike wool/cotton blends soooo much. I don’t even know why. They just feel icky in my hands. I’m not a big fan of cotton to begin with, but blended with wool? Nope.

I've been knitting for decades and I cannot stand the ranunculus! Maybe it's just my age but don't like the love note either. Definitely not into cropped items but I am almost 68 so that probably explains it

I notice that a lot effective English style knitters talk about elbow pain. I learned Continental style, and I have tendonitis in both arms, and have not had any elbow pain. I tried multiple times to learn English style before finding Continental. I find English to be more "fiddley", like you make movements that aren't common in every day life. Maybe that's why so many English knitters have pain? I don't know, I am not a doctor.

Omg you don’t do swatching…??? 😧😲😵 i do it just easily like 1 inch length without blocking but I still try 😅 the knitting fairies will hate you~ just kidding! I don’t know how you don’t try swatching… maybe use the same, similar yarn with same fabric/fiber every time? I’m knitting with all kinds of wool, cotton and silk with different yarn from the pattern so i have to try…
