That's unfortunate about the skins being full of mites. Maybe somthing to do with the weather. Its been damp here and cold but we have not had any snow. 👍
Thx Brother. I did end up skinning the last one and it actually was decent after I brushed it out so that was good. I hate wasting fur. We definitely got winter here now. As I'm replying to you its -37 C. Supposed to start warning up a little on Sunday. Really appreciate your continued support my Friend. You folks take care.
What's up, cowboy? I'm sure things will turn around. There's probably plenty of coyotes out there with good Fur aright my friend see you down the trail
It wasn't as bad as I thought. I boarded the last dawg, and it turned out better than I thought. Brushed it out. Had some ice in its fur. Actually looks pretty good. Thx for your continued support my friend! Have a good evening.
Thank you my friend. The last dawg actually turned out to be decent. I brushed it out good and it actually looks pretty good. Thx for watching my friend. Take care
It is a cold bugger here the last few days. -40 this morning. I did end up boarding the last dawg. It brushed out good and turned out to be a better dawg than I thought it was. Thx for watching my brother! Good luck to you.
HELLO! Very Cool! I wish we had Fisher in trappable numbers. I've never even seen one except stuffed or in pictures. Damn that's a shame about those Shoulder Mites. I am glad we don't have those here! Man....that's terrible catching them and not being any good. I was told with mange, to get them out of the woods so healthy ones don't roll and pick them up. I guess this is the same? It's a type of mange ain't it? Well, I guess you are having a good season, but the critters aren't. I'm glad that Fisher was nice!
I did end up boarding the last dawg. It was better than I thought. I brushed some ice out of the fur, and it actually cleaned up pretty well. I'll show a picture of it in the next video. The shoulder mites are a bit different than mange. I've caught dawgs that have had both. The shoulder mites are actually a mite that dogs carry, and it got passed on to Coyotes. Mange will eventually kill them, but shoulder mites won't, and they will never get rid of it. I never worry too much about leaving the carcasses in the bush as they normally freeze solid quite quickly up here and the mites or mange can't survive a good freezing, thus other ones can't pick it up. Thx for watching brother. Sorry for the late reply. You folks stay warm.
I agree. Now with the low prices, most trappers aren't targeting them. If the price comes back, they will start again and wonder why 75 percent of their dawgs are sickly. Thx for watching my friend! Take care.
Yep, I did end up boarding the last dog and it actually brushed out pretty decent. It was better than I thought. Had some ice matted into it's fur. Thx for watching brother. Best of luck to you!
At least you are cutting into their numbers. They aren't worth bothering with according to the prices. The ones we have are coywolves for the most part & they are having a devasting impact on caribou & moose calves. The buggers hunt in packs & are a formidable predator. Nice fisher though. Winter has finally arrived in your neck of the woods. Looking forward to the next one.
Too bad there’s not a good market for the tails….. the shoulder mites don’t seem to affect them. I’m glad the snow is coming now. That’ll make the trapping better!
Hello my Friend. The odd time someone will ask for a tail but it doesn't happen often. Would be nice to have a market for them. Yes, with this snow I will be able to see tracks so much better. Another 4 inches and it would make fairly decent snowmobiling. Thx for watching Brother. Hope your boys are catching a pile of fur! Best wishes to you folks.
Hey Gary Thanks so much for commenting I just clicked on your logo and here I am New laptop and internet antenna ( Santa was great) -43 C & F here last nite (Jan 14 ) Too bad about the bad coyotes and fox, Good luck in 2024 Bud CYU
Thx for watching my friend. Instead of the wife and I buying each other something for Christmas, we just went out and bought a new laptop as well. The old one I had was getting so slow. Been cold here too. Yesterday was -41 at night. This morning I work up to -37. Going to start warming up a bit now I think. Appreciate you my friend!
It will get better I'm sure, Brother. Damned cold here now. I don't expect the Fisher to move much now till the cold snap ends. Did pick up another Coyote today. A good one. Thx for watching and have a good night.
Yes Brother some days just end up that way. I know that catching the ugly ones take as much work as catching the good ones. Next check will be better for you I’m sure. Catch up with you at the next set. Take care Brother.
That is so true. I actually did end up boarding the last one and it brushed out pretty decent. I hate wasting fur! Thank you for watching my friend. I sure do appreciate it. Hope you're surviving the cold. - 40 C here.
You bet, my friend. We can't let Dwayne's memory die. And thx a lot. I actually ended up boarding that last dawg, and it brushed out pretty nice. Just had some ice in its fur. Thx for watching my friend. Have a good night.
You got that right Brother. I did board the last one. I hate wasting fur and it actually brushed out pretty nice. Thx for watching my Friend. Have a good day.
Three strikes and you’re out. Every at bat won’t be a grand slam. Hopefully, a home run on your next check. 👍 Thanks for the triple KOD for Triple Nickel Trapper. RIP 🙏
I did board the last dawg. I took it home. Hung it in the shed. Throw it out the next day and then brought it back in and done it up. It actually turned out quite nice. Had some ice matting that made it look rough. It brushed out pretty well. Dwayne's gone but he won't be forgotten if I have anything to do with it. Still hard to believe. Thx for the continued support my friend. Best wishes to you .
Yes, every now and then we have to take out the trash. Get rid of the sickly ones. I actually did do up the last one. It had some ice matted and brushed out pretty decent. Lots of people are feeling the loss of our brother TNT. Still find it hard to believe he's gone. Thx for tuning in brother. You folks take care.
You bet that's part of trapping. The last dawg was better than I thought and I ended up boarding it. It brushed up quite nice. I'm glad I didn't have to waste it. Thx for watching brother! Have a good day.
I want to get up to the north line to see what's up there. More chance of there being some cats. I did board that last dawg and it actually brushed out pretty nice. I hate wasting them. Thx for watching my Friend. Stay warm!
That is so disheartening . Any ideas why you have so many animals up there with the mite problem? Is it because populations so high? I only catch 75 to 100 coyotes per year and I might catch two that have mange and you guys up north seem to have a big issue with it
Some how the shoulder mites got into them from dogs. It is a dog mite but affects Coyotes differently when they catch it. I hope you never have a problem with it. The last Coyote I caught I actually did skin and it brushed out quite nice. It had some ice in its fur. I hate wasting fur if I can avoid it. Thx for watching my Friend. Have a great day!
I actually did board the last dawg. Had some ice in its fur and looked rougher than it actually was. It brushed out quite decent. Don't like to waste it if I can avoid it. Thx for watching my Friend! Have a good day.
Yes, it's going to be a cold week. -35C tomorrow night. I'm sure I'll catch some Critters with nice fur, lol. Gotta remain positive! Thx a lot, my friend. Have a good night.
Well one good fisher at least. To bad about those three k-9’s but like you say let’s hope the rest are good ones. Looks like you did them a favor anyway. Stay safe and good luck out there 👍👍
Ya, I would like to catch a mess of Fisher again. Sounds like the price has crawled up a little more on them. The last dawg I did end up doing. I hate wasting fur and it actually brushed out really nice. Thx for the continued support brother! Have a good night.
Have to take out the trash from time to time. I actually did do up the last dawg, and it brushed out pretty nice. I'll catch a few good ones yet I'm sure. Thx for watching my friend. I sure appreciate you. Have a good night.
I'm sure I will my Friend. I always try to be positive and optimistic! Got a couple more Fisher sets put in today. Thx for watching and have a good night.
Thank very much. Last year I caught 24 of those Fisher. I really like my VK but I should put a primer on it. Hard starting when it's cold compared to my ol BRAVO. Thx a lot for the sub!
Once they get those mites its permanent and they will keep spreading it. Unlike mange it won't kill them either. Today it's-40. That usually takes care of mangy ones. I've found them dead curled up in bale stacks, frozen. Thx for tuning in my Friend!
I actually ended up doing the last one. I hate wasting fur, and it brushed out pretty nice. Had some ice froze into the fur and made it look rougher than it was. Thx for the continued support, my friend. Have a good night.
Ya, it sucks. 3 years ago the last one would have been worth doing. Probably would have brought $75. In today's market maybe $5. Not worth my time to skin it. Next run will be better, lol. Thx for tuning in Brother and for the continued support! Best wishes
too bad about the shoulder mites - that's the first fox I've ever seen with it. Question - are the shoulder mites kind of a sign of nature's way of trying to thin out the large numbers of dawgs? Congrats on the fisher - you mentioned that one spot was "prime" habitat for fisher - what makes it so good?
The shoulder mites are something that Coyotes should never have got. It's actually a dog mite that got past to them from domestic dogs. It affects the Coyotes differently than dogs, apparently. Coyotes won't die from the shoulder mites like they do from mange. I said that is prime Fisher habitat because it just has the right combination of old growth and new. Lots of dead fall where rodents like to hide. As well as quite a few squirrels and Rabbits. Thx a lot for your continued support my friend. Have yourself a good day.
Nice to take the sick ones out but it sure sucks catching them. Here's hoping the snares will see some action from some nicely furred dogs with that bitter cold coming! Take care.
It is bitter cold. -40 this morning. I ended up boarding the last dawg. It actually looks pretty good and brushed out well. Had some ice frozen in its fur. Supposed to start a bit of a warming trend here in a couple days. Thx for watching brother! Have a good day .
