Sorry it's been a while! I got into the Classic beta and have started streaming on Twitch. If you'd like to catch me live, my channel is: www.twitch.tv/madseasonshow . I hope to have part 2 out in about a week if things go as planned.
Love the stream and the youtubes. I only started following WoW streaming and youtube channels about 2 weeks ago (I wonder why...) Anyways, you are by far my favorite content creator. Educational, fun, and monotone, just the way I like it. Can't wait to give you that sweet, sweet twitch subscription.
@@madseasonshow Hi dude! I hope you are doing well. I have been watching for a while now, and love your vids! I don’t even play anymore, but I still reminisce about how much I loved this video game when I played it from the winter of 2004 to a bit into WOTLK (wishing we could stay in vanilla forever though). I played vanilla again for a bit on a private server a few years ago, and enjoy people talking about those days in the game. :) I just have a couple of quick questions, if you have a moment? 1) 10:13 Where did you screenshot these weapons? In game itself? Because when I look online, all I can find are the newer/updated versions of items, post nerf etc (i.e. Nightfall was nerfed). 2) Where can we find all the old vanilla items (not to be confused with Classic version of the items, because I’m sure Blizzard changed quite a few items)? I forgot where I’d look them up when I played on a private server. 3) Do you recall if Blizzard changed the design of any epic high warlord weapons? That’s the main reason I asked my last question. I earned all that rank 14 gear/weaponry back in the day, and I have a memory of some of the weapons looking a bit different - particularly the fist weapons being very different looking. I wonder if I’m just misremembering because I’m such an old fart now or what, and I can’t figure it out because all I can find online is the recent Classic item postings of them.
When I first played WoW back in vanilla, I was a miner/ skinner, but I think in WoW classic Ill be going Herb/Alch for the social aspect as you need to go through an Alchemist to get materials for most good things, that and while leveling I always wanted to be that guy who if you met and joined up and did some stuff, you may walk away with some free potions! Seems a great way to make some new friends!
I know almost everything about this topic, I know what professions I'm gonna pick and what for... Yet, I still clicked to watch this video and to listen to that sweet-sweet monotone!
I can never quite understand why anyone would downvote Mad's videos. He is one of the most genuine and chill RU-vidr's I've ever watched. It's actually relaxing to watch his videos all the while still being able to enjoy the knowledge he is throwing at you. You're awesome, bro!
Damn. MadSeason actually manages to make people who never played Vanilla WoW feel *nostalgic* about it. Hands down my favourite content creator for this game. Probably for anything, really.
The payoff for things like that is HUGE in Vanilla/Classic. The grind is always worth it if you get something awesome and rare at the end of it! I wonder if there will be a premium for items that say "Made by MadSeason" on the bottom LOL!
WOW the fact that blizz made an npc, in a dungeon, that you had to mind control to talk to in order to progress your profession is astounding to me, there was so much adventure packed into some of the smallest things in classic wow.
Yeah this is the main reason so many of us oldies are coming back... Wow lost this beautiful touch over the years... There was NOTHING like it at the time and it's the main reason why 15 years later it's still going strong... Classic will be the revival.
@@joeyburg6723 I wouldn't say there was nothing like it. Remember everquest had quests that you could only find out about if you used /say to talk to the npcs. I remember one quest where you had to ask a specific npc about a ring you found.
@@olstar18 Right but my point was in this case... it was a RAID that instead of simply being about killing everyone there... you had to MC someone to teach you a skill you could not learn any other way. I played EQ but mostly Dark Age of Camelot and there wasn't anything like that. But your right there were components of older RPG's which did things similar.
These videos are actually really helpful so far. Btw I love your deadpan delivery of jokes you just suddenly slip in there out of nowhere and then keep on going like you didn't say anything out of the ordinary. It's pretty hilarious.
The power of professions made them exciting to take. And having special labs, forges, etc. gave people a reason to play the content. Wise decisions by the original developers.
MadSeason you are awesome bro, like many who watch your videos; I played vanilla when I was a youngster and I can't remember much of the details, so having these videos really helps people like me prepare for classic. It also brings the memories flooding back. Respect from the UK and keep the content coming!
I loved vanilla gathering professions because of the vast variety of herbs and nodes you could collect all over azeroth, it wasnt as set in stone as: Just collect as much of this ore as you can as you won't need anything else once you level up blacksmithing
dude. you rule. i am a big fan of your channel. i love your whole persona and you a literal encyclopedia of vanilla knowledge. its obvious how much you care about this content and i want to say that it is greatly appreciated by this lifelong gen-x wow nerd. thank you *salute*
It really was/is (I haven't played since Cataclysm, not tried the new classic yet). Personally, I think the best of worlds is some kind of hybrid game; up to the end of Wrath most of these features persisted and things were pretty great.
Yes!! You can even mind control bosses to deliver few epic items and they even Enchant them before Delivering them to your door step. . Priests are highly underrated..
Man, you are so right that this was the time before balance everything... I still remember those bgs with my gnomis death ray! More then once i one-shooted fully geared hordes! I particularly remember this tauren shaman fully decked in tier 2... I would have loved to see his face irl ! He did hit me with a lightning bold for like 800 dmg or something like that... then i hitted him with a 3.5k ray! it was priceless!
Greetings, I love the choice of music in your videos! Your Classic guides will help me on making a experience I‘ve never had back then. Looking forward to the second part.
Noooo! I was waiting for tailoring and enchanting the whole video. Why you gotta do me dirty like that, mad? But for real, always love when I see you post a new video!
Keep up the awesome work man, such a wealth of knowledge and such well put together videos. I retired from WoW over 4 years ago after playing since vanilla and watching your vids just hypes me up for classic. I can't wait to get back in to it!!!
I love your content and information,I started in tbc and didn’t know much info about anything really and got obsessed with leveling fast and pvp only and didn’t fully get to experience the full potential of the game, ofc had tons of fun but now with classic almost here I find these videos super helpfull, interesting and entertaining,so thanks for that ! I am super excited to play classic and play it properly and enjoy it! Much love man
4:10 Azuh, imagine this in modern WOW, I’ve never played Classic, I started playing WOW with the panda expansion, but Classic seems really interesting and all these videos make me look forward to it
Important, if you go engineering, which I absolutely will. Make certain you have on a parachute cloak before you use that Gadgetzan teleport! :) I still remember where the plans are for much of the engineering items. That repair bot was handy and raids certainly loved it. As a Hunter, engineering was amazing. I used to carry around mats needed to make ammo so I could make it on the spot, but remember, stack sizes were smaller.
I took Engineering on my pally back then. We didn't have any range spells so the grenades and dynamite were nice for pulling. The rocket boots were great in WSG, and the Gnomish chicken could see stealth so it was great against rogues in pvp.
Mad your videos have always been the best. I’ve always watched them thinking how awesome it would be to play classic again. Now I can’t wait for August !!!!
Think most serius players will go engineering sooner or later on ther main. With all the info online it´s hard to anyone that read up a little to pass on it. However having something else in begining to get that epic mount & start saving up gold is prob not a bad idea. The first 2 stages is walkover anyway so no need to be serius.
Amazing how engineering was balanced to be good in pvp and pve but with the cost of being a gold sink and rng based sometimes. High-risk high-reward game-play as an option is something i didn't realize i even missed.
I really want to go engineering but also really want to go alchemy to make my own potions... This is going to be a very hard decision for me. I'm extremely PvP-focused.
You are the God guide of classic. Thank you so much for making these videos. I'm learning way more about Vanilla/Classic/Pre-BC than I knew 14 years ago. Awesome videos!
If you’re still having trouble figuring which to choose, just go with double gathering: skinning and mining, say. The money you make will help develop a production profession later on if you want to switch.
I have been listening to your subtle background music in most of your videos. Windfall Island has a market and profession based characters on it. I wonder if you planned that. Good audio cover too. I still love your videos to this day Mad. Music has an interesting way of expressing people's level of emotion. It makes me trust your judgement a tad more than other RU-vidrs; Because it makes me think we come from similar backgrounds, and or make similar judgements.
Hey MadSeasonShow, thank you for using the Soundtrack from Mega Man Battle Network 5 in the background. (9:45) It reminded me how much I loved this game.
Hey Dude! Im super enjoying your Content! Did start late on Wow back then in the end of BC and played until MOP so my main game time was in Cata and WOTLK ... super hyped to get the chance of playing the fabled Classic experience from monday on and you provide me with legit everything i need to know and in such a nice Manner and Chill Tone! I just wanted to say thank you! Im also streaming my Stuff (no worries not gonna advertise now) and will try to throw you a Host when i see you streaming during classics release to show further Appreciation :) Hope you have a great day and an awesome start into classic!
I've decided that dual gathering is the way to go. Even if all you do is vendor the stuff, it's better than not having a profession at all. Which dual gathering I get depends on character: Mining + Skinning is the best combination. Mining generally takes up less bag space (since there's less types of minerals in a zone) and yields the highest value on farmed items. Skinning is a good complement because it doesn't require you to move back and forth on your trackings. I won't go Mining + Skinning on everything, for reasons specific to each class. However, I will go Mining + Skinning on: Hunter Warlock Rogue Herbing + Skinning is the next-best combination. Because you can both Herb and Skin while in Shapeshift form, that makes it fit two classes very well. I also feel Herbing is better on a Mage, who can root things, Herb, and run. Mineral nodes take several mining actions to fully mine, and Frost Nova will have worn off by then. So my Herbing + Skinning classes are: Mage Druid Shaman Mining + Herbing. This combination requires you to go back and forth between tracking. I would mainly go for this combo on things that I plan to do a lot of dungeons with. Almost everyone who goes dual gathering will have Skinning, so this way I avoid bumping into the other players. My Mining + Herbing characters are then: Warrior Priest Paladin Note that it crossed my mind to have the Hunter go Mining + Herbing instead. After all, Hunters cycle trackings anyway. However, Hunters are likely going after beasts for pet food and because they're good to farm, and can track beasts, which makes them ideal candidates for skinning. Once you have plenty of gold, you can always redo your professions later.
Just a quick note for those looking to take up engineering, the repair bot is found just outside of the Grimm Guzzler "Sorry it's been a while" on the floor in a small room off of what looked like a torture chamber. If I remember right, it's an open scroll on the floor just in front of a few named elites in that tiny room.
how much more of a RPG classic WoW was compared to the modern abomination. Just by looking at the profession system, it is so much more deep and a lot of cooperation with other classes or professions is required to progress it
6:39 Free Action Potion prevents stuns and snares but doesn't break existing ones. You need Living Action Potion for that which comes with an alchemist exalted with ZG.
Great video man! Love your stuff. One of my favorite RU-vidrs; glad you got into Classic. Just a quick note - the Nightfall Axe is "typically" used by a melee hunter spamming Rank 1 Wing Clip for maximum up-time...or, in worse case scenarios, the annoying Enh Shammy/Ret Pally that refuses to go Holy :D
Ooooohhh... Man, as soon as you brought up Axesmithing I couldn't help but think of Bloodmoon. It was a TBC weapon, yeah, but I felt so accomplished for making it that to this day it's one of only two weapons I keep in the bank, the rest I sold off or disenchanted once the appearance unlock thing happened. Even though I eventually got an upgrade for it right before the launch of Wrath, I still used Bloodmoon all the way to level 78. Even used it instead of upgrades I found as early as 72. And I would have used it straight to 80 and finally replaced it with the Titansteel Destroyer, but groups were starting to note my subpar DPS in the form of a kick. That's really what I miss most about the old profession system. Yeah it was a pain in the ass to level, yeah the grinding felt out of control sometimes, yeah it was ludicrously expensive, but there was a point to leveling it up. Nowadays a Rank 3 recipe means you can use maybe two less ore compared to a level 1 recipe, but it's still the same item with the same level of power. The only reason to keep skilling up in a profession after you learn the rank 1 recipes is for a few achievement points. Back then, a Rank 3 recipe meant that it was the third form of a weapon and the pinnacle of the craft. And you needed to max out the skill so that you could even learn the recipe! That made things special. Made them unique. Made them worth making. Anyhow, since I'm maining a Hunter in Classic I'll be going with Engineering. Even if all it gave me was guns and ammo that would be enough to justify it entirely, but all the extra gadgets and pets are like a pile of cherries on top.
Mining plus herbalism is great on an alt. You get to farm both while running around. Just make a macro that alternates between the two and bind it to something you can easily spam.
