I was happy to see that you did not disclose the location or name of the beach. I think it’s really important -especially because you have so many followers. I can certainly see why beachcombers like to follow you. You are both adorable! And it’s fun to see you get so excited. People go to beaches to enjoy the peace and quiet and serenity (as well as to collect treasures). Once you share the name and location of a beach it becomes totally overrun and that sense of peace has been taken away from those that live locally.

Seeing you two pick up various smooth rounded rocks reminded me that American Indians in the Southwest US have a tradition of using polishing stones to smooth their pottery. They have not used glazes historically, but they do have a custom of using a smooth, round hard rock to polish ceramics in the greenware stage (dry or leather hard). It does make beautiful ceramics, even if it is time consuming. Polishing stones are even passed down the family line.

I'm so glad mentioned this! It's an interesting & important cultural point that probably isn't very well-known outside the southwest.

@traveler320ak7
@traveler320ak7 Год назад
@@chelseaphillips9048. I have found that many seaglass hunters will never say where they are finding it. If they do say it’s usually a lie. I used to go to the beaches that people said they got loads of seaglass from only to find nothing or just trash glass. Now I just go exploring beaches by myself until I find one. The south doesn’t have very many beaches with seaglass though. I found one piece in The panhandle at a little beach in June george state park Florida and a few pieces on the dike in Texas city, TX but lots around the great lakes. The US is not that great for glass. Fun when you do find it though. Good luck to you!!

I don't know if anyone mentioned it already but the big bead with the offset hole looks like a bead from girl's ponytail holders. The holders are elastic made in a figure eight pattern with a clamp in the middle to hold the ends and midway point together, creating the figure eight. On each loop is a big bead, usually plastic, and after wrapping the holder around your hair you simply clamp one bead over the other, locking it in place. Of course, it could also have been used perhaps on a basket with a lid as part of the closure, loop over bead. Just a thought. I just love sea glass and sea pottery. So beautiful.

Oh my goodness! Too many wonderful finds to enumerate. The sea pottery has to be my favorite though, they were just as you said, tiny works of art beautifully sea worn. I love them all. The turquoise pieces of sea glass and milk glass were my favorites among the sea glass finds. The small stones and pebbles were beautiful too, and that flat black rock that you thought might be coal was so cool. Another one of them looked like a piece of the candy "Sugar Babies", I don't know if you have that in the U.K., but it was a perfect match. The sea marbles were great finds too. I don't know when you filmed this episode but it sure was weird hearing you talk about being cold. It's been blazingly hot all over the U.S. and I thought most of Europe as well. It made me wish I was there with you all the more. I loved your cinematography, especially the underwater shots. And, lastly, the circling dog was just hysterical and added to the fun of your video. Thanks again for taking us along on an epic adventure. 😊

We had a 1.4th acre garden that the rows were so narrow we had to walk toe to heel gently moving away limbs and vegies. Yes, I too helped my momma with her flower beds completely around the house and all over the porches. We went bottle digging and beach combing. Memories that last a lifetime and beyond I pray. I bet that sea worn caster would look excellent as a necklace . If you strung it on to some thick cord, leather or something similar with some larger size sea glass of like colors with wholes drilled into them place on either side then a different color gradually going smaller. If you make the cord long there’s a technique where you tie it into knots on both sides and it tightens up and makes it smaller or you can pull the knots together to make it longer. So you could where it like a chocked necklace or a long necklace.

Oh my goodness, id of been in heaven larking on that beach with you both Gail and Alex. I adore beach combing for the likes of well worn beautiful pieces of pottery, which just screams, make me into something. So much of what you found, was ready made for making jewelry out of. The sea glass is always so magical to see and hold. Worn so beautifully by the seas waves and sand. Our waste rubbish, tossed into the sea, made beautiful by some of nature's greatest force's. Time and water! Its always a pleasure to join you both. P.S. wow that wind certainly was blowing hard at the end of the day. Haha made me giggle at the close...there goes the hat. 😆💨 👒
