At that point of pop-rock music, nobody was expecting to hear a "60-70's era" voice again (Classic and, at the same time, brand new). She was a gift for all of us!
Well, I actually would say, that frank was better than back to black. Not that I don’t love back to black with all my heart... I just think Frank is a tiny bit better... 🤍
Amy Winehouse what a fantastic artist, again taken to soon. She was so unconventional, unique, beautiful contralto..... such raw grit…such soul… such emotion… ♥️♥️♥️🎧
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 I'm very familiar with the music of the great singers of the past such as Sarah Vaughn, Nina Simone,Betty Carter , etc. In my opinion Amy surpasses all in talent. The well known quite 'To each his own' applies in this case... Have a good one 👍
@@tasintina3046 the other well known quote. 'there is a big difference between kneeling down and bending over". Respectfully I disagree with you on Amy. Not saying she wasn't good. Drive safe.
Yesss sirr Amy Winehouse such a voice! I love Valerie! Sad she passed away at only 27! She may not physically be here with us but she lives on thru her music!
It's been a big regret of mine that I didn't really pay attention to Amy's music until after she was gone. She had such an amazing and distinctive voice...definitely a throwback to an earlier time. I can't help making comparisons between her and Janis Joplin. Two amazing talents taken too soon.
Yes, and they both died at 27, I believe.....along with Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, and Jimmy Hendrix. Such a spooky coincidence they all passed at the same age and of equally similar circumstances.
WOW! This is one of the best performances I've seen her do! It's so minimalist, so stripped down to the absolute basics, just her and a guitar. You can almost see her demons tormenting her as she sings, but they can't diminish her , no matter how hard they try. The sign of a great artist is how effortless they make it appear!
Gotcha. Just like she got all of us. She was so special. With her best yet to come. You can find much here on YT from Amy and her excellent band from before she slid off the face of the earth and deeply into the clutch of her demons. It was heartbreaking to watch because this level of talent comes our way so very rarely.
Rabbit hole of the one of the best jazz singers since Etta James! RIP Amy Winehouse. What you gave us was sheer GOLD. I love to listen to her. She’s amazing.
The documentary Amy is heartbreaking but you should check it out. The lyrics on the song ‘Rehab’ are a punch in the gut when you see that she had no one in her life to save her, including her opportunist Dad.
Yes! Her dad was disgusting! How can he breath the way he pushed that broken girl he as good as killed her! N her stupid x! Such greedy selfish people! What a shame! She didn't stand a chance!
I will always be upset at how soon we lost her. That voice was transcendent- classic and yet new and fresh. I love listening to her pared down like this, it highlights her skill beautifully. RIP Amy
R.I.P. sweet Amy 💔 Thank you for reacting to her amazing talent👏 She had that incredibly unique gift of being able to connect with those who were in pain - her lyrics, her music but combine that with her amazing voice and you have a LEGENDARY artist....gone far too soon....this world & fame was too much for her to cope with. She battled bulimia in her teens/20's, alcoholism/drug addiction in her 20's and the scumbag of a husband that destroyed her (‘Back To Black’ is about him).....he was so toxic, but tragically she paid the price for loving him. Singing was like breathing to Amy, but she didn't even think of herself as that special, saying "I'm just a girl who sings". Heart-breaking is an understatement: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_2yCIwmNuLE.html
LOVE Amy! This is the first time Ive heard/seen this video - Thank You Jayvee for bringing it to my attention - I think possibly my favourite live recording of her doing Valerie!!
Just an astonishing talent that we no longer have. Truth be told me and my mates had a discussion at a (UK) festival that we had to go and see Amy perform with universal agreement of we best go and see her while we still can as back then we all felt she had so many demons and vices that either would burn her out or they would end up killing her & she was flawless that afternoon. All we have left is the legacy of her music and it will stand the test of time but she was such a flawed character that could have achieved so much more. For what we had it's special & may she rest in peace.
Amy Winehouse - stronger than me , Will you still love me tomorrow , tears dry on their own, back to Black , you know that im no good , love is a losing game , Rehab... all the songs from the back to Black are SO GOOD !
Her father should be ashamed in discouraging her from rehab. Such a total tragic waste. So sad to see her tweeking through this. She is/was so talented.
@@JohnJohn-cu7nk Because Her daddy thought She was fine. Her father is an evil f**k just like Britney's. Both trying to reap cash over the health and happiness of their own Kids.
Do u know what... I literally watched everything surrounding her from beginning to end... I thought her father tried not she just wouldn't listen... Gna have to do some research on this... 👍🏾
I was driving up Camden High Street having just delivered to the ice wharf when they announced her death. I had to pull over, I was a 46 year old lorry driver with a lump in my throat and a big tear in my eye. Beautiful singer.
@@Deebo1985 Yes, the Zutons' singer laughed after people congratulated him at Glastonbury for covering Amy's song. He wrote it. And their album Tired of Hanging Around is great, too.
Love this version! My daughter shared her music with me, we both adore the quality of her performances. Get choked up hearing this! Such an unbelievable loss. 🖤
Watching this video and hearing THAT voice made me want to cry! Such an incredible talent taken much to early for us. The rawness is what made her unique and “Real”, RIP Amy, you nailed it and left us wanting so much more😪
