She had a reality music contest show called The Linda Perry Project. She was married to Sara Gilbert and has kids with her. They are divorced now I think.

What I love is when a lead singer isn’t just singing lyrics but using their voice as another instrument. These lyrics are thoughtful but the delivery is all about the sound even if you don’t know the words.
The lead singer, Linda Perry, is an ICON! She went on to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and has done songwriting for Pink, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, and many more. She was also married to the actress Sara Gilbert from the show Rosanne for a while. I think they just separated in 2019. I remember listening to this on MTV when I was in middle school. It was like the feel good anthem for all us weirdo's.😊 Glad you enjoyed it. It's still just as powerful of a song as it was back then.
I remember when the song first came out I was driving down the highway and it came on the radio and I was like oh damn this song is this shit and ever since then I fucking love this song! If I’m like, having a bad day, I put this song on and it makes me feel amazing

You all should check out a group called DeeLite and their song "Groove is in the heart." I believe it is from around 1994. It has a good groove, and is a really fun song. Lots of people were really upset about them not staying together as a band to keep cranking out the tunes. The problem was that Linda tried the spotlight and found that it just wasn't what she really wanted from life. She already had a very successful career as a song writer (inducted into Song Writer Hall Of Fame in... I think... 2014 or 15). She's incredibly talented and to be honest, I respect her more for being honest with herself enough to say "this isn't for me" rather than chase the rainbow of "fame and fortune". She's good. She knows it and she proved she could "make it" in a very cutthroat industry and just said no and walked away

I'm working my way through your back catalogue. Empowering is right for this song. As a teenage girl there weren't many female bands or singers around that made you feel like this, TLC is the only other group I can think off. So I lived on this song. Then Alanis came along and fixed everything 😂😂😂😂
