really appreciate your critical thoughts on fairy tale! i've never heard anyone actually get into what the book is about, let alone critique its themes. i think i'll probably steer clear of it now
I am so glad you're keeping the Chidren books section at the end, I love to know what is coming out. PS: 2009 Emma (the PBS mini series) is glorious. Just thinking about it makes me want to rewatch it.
🌱 I started reading the Novik series too and had a very similar experience which was so sad because I loved "Uprooted" and liked "Spinning silver" a lot.
🌱🌱🌱🦉🦉🦉 I’m guessing the story of Flaco the Central Park owl will eventually become a MG or children’s book. It is at least worth setting News Alerts this spring? 🦉🦉🦉🌱🌱🌱
Would highly recommend Her Majesty's Royal Coven by Juno Dawson for a magical world replacement for the HP world! There is a TERF character in it, and a subplot that feels directly targeted at JKR's views but the magic world is amazing, and filled that void for me.
Ughhh I know exactly what you mean about the Harry Potter gap. I’m also looking for that. Legends and Lattes was great (recommend that if you haven’t already) but it’s still so hard to replace. But JKR is just so horrible.
I'm on a waitlist at the library for Legends and Lattes! HP is a hard thing to find a replacement for. I think part of it is I'm chasing nostalgia. So not only am I looking for a new read that has cozy magic, friendship, quest elements, I'm looking for a new read that makes me want to reread it.
