I fear the edges, over time, will start to turn up and trap dirt. The correct way to wrap is to take the top and bottom covers off and then wrap the undercuts, so that the edges are inside of the housing.

nice tutorial. I've wrapped 4 laptops before and always find it hard to fix the edges. Never thought of using hairdryer. Will definitely use it next time. Thanks!

I just did one and disassembled everything. Why you ask? Because I wrapped it before and was suffering lifting. I used 91% rubbing alcohol for the pre clean. People should also remember to save the center scrap of any part as it can be used on the mouse to match. I did a desktop keyboard and then used the scrap to wrap my mouse. Also know that if there is ANY pattern under the film it will show through. Also you can leave the piece over the mouse pad. It will still read it.

Slowly, when you heat the vinyl it will be soft and easy to cut, just go slow.

No offence but carbon isn't my style and I don't know why everyone loves vinyl wraping it around everything...

Should have removed the casing of the laptop completely to warp the vinyl on the other side. It won't pilloff easily this way.

Perhaps it is smarter to do he same on disassembled parts? I am not sure the touchpad shall survive being scarred.

IzzySpeaks This highly depends on what type of mousepad it is. If it is a basic touchpad, or you plain don;t use it anyway, go ahead. However, if it is a multitouch mousepad, then it is not a good idea, because a multitouch mousepad uses technology that actually requires your finger for one reason: Little did you know, but the reason you have a sense of touch in every part of your skin is because your skin has a natural, tiny electrical feedback that does the job. This being said, the touchpad does not read pressure put on specific areas of the surface, like a basic touchpad, but INSTEAD needs the direct electrical feedback from your fingertips to operate, which also allows for this multitouch to work. The problem with this is, some touchpads only need thi for multitouch, while the pressure gauges on each corner of the pad sense the single touch operation...but other touchpads completely rely on this electrical feedback! So before you cover it, make sure it is not multitouch, because then your mousepad won't let you use gestures, or wont let you use it at all.
