"I made something and it works" - Understatement of the year. TrailMater more than 'works'. That it goes where it goes is amazing. That it comes back out hauling another rig?? Beyond amazing.

I have three 4x4s all on leaf springs. Nothing wrong with leaf springs. They are simple, cheap and work as intended. If I want ride quality I air down.

You just keep on Rambling Rory, its actually interesting to hear your take on things. Those who think they know better should first stop and think about what they want to say because what you are doing is actually working, so why on earth would you want to change that. So unless they can say, this is what I run and I've been in business doing exactly what you are doing and this works better, then they'd be better off saying nothing. You seem open to genuine advice but pleased you do not listen to these armchair critiques. Just stay safe and keep on getting them out, love your channel and you are a very likable guy. Thanks for sharing your ramblings Rory, all the best from England UK.

All the know-it-alls are most always the ones that U have to go get out of some rough deep canyon when their front end breaks out. I have never been out your way and I';m not interested in spending that kind of money on a toy to beat up pounding on rocks , then have to repair it constantly , You and your tow truck provide a valuable service in any weather at any time of the day , so just laugh at the ones that tell U how to do it . Thanks for the videos and the magnificent views of the mountains !!!

Your truck is a work of art and belongs in the Smithsonian. I think a known week link in the build is a good thing ! you know what parts to carry, better to brake a rod end instead of the pitman off the box 😂😅

Exactly, excellent point, known numerous folks that deliberately built the weak point to be ___ , in their opinion, as you stated better and easier to deal with ___ trail fix than the alternative

Thanks + Heim joints is a brand name for spherical rod end bearings and in my (English!) experience the American Aurora is one of the best. Whatever bearings you use be sure to fit 'Seals it' seals to them which are inexpensive and by keeping out dust and dirt dramatically extend the life of the bearing. Finally - all spherical rod end bearings are not equal!

Back in my younger days me and my mate had an old Datson 120Y that we used for towing a trailer, and the leaf springs on the rear were from a Ford Transit 15cwt van which when towing the tailer full of scrap kept the ass end of car from dragging the road

That's a good name for a song - WREnching and RAMbling! :-) Mater takes a bunch of hard drivin! You do pretty good in the break department - if it was my vehicle it would be broke all the time. Triple bypass - that's a heart surgery! OKKKK... I'll shush. I bet even in this year (2023) you are still hearing from those folks. But I think you've figured them out! I'll put my money on you! HELP - come get me! See those guys know you - and what you do - they got your back. I feel awesome that I know Rory and TrailMater! I want something signed by you! I'll hang it on my wall! Even us ole foggies love to have signature of our fav off road recovery fella and his wrecker! BUT you have the know how - you have a mind that just figures things out - period. You have so much fun - and that really catches all our attention. Workin and having fun.

Loved the video Rory! I only found out about you a few months ago so I'm slowly trying to catch up on the older videos. I have to say Rory that you are the type of guy that I would love to know personally. My best friend is a life-long mechanic that started helping his dad in their garage before he was even a teenager. Always there when you need him and glad to help someone when help is needed. I've been enjoying our videos and just keep being you and do what you do YOUR WAY!!! 😁

Don't stop being yourself ever. I'm no mechanic or welder & only have a basic understanding of most car parts yet I'm always happy to watch you working & chatting about stuff you do or whatever as it's just real. Simplicity of construction like old leaf springs & a full chassis is tried & true. It's not about getting sports car handling or maximum comfort, that's where modern 4WDs have gone mostly as it's more about selling for the towing capacity & touring rather than tough off road tracks. IFS will never be as good on tough terrain.

I THINK YOU NAILED IT! People know there'll be someone to come and get them, so they are getting into situations they were not prepared for mentally and or physically. Advances in communications are also making people take greater risks. (Just a little venting)

A common problem that people have when speaking is to use uhm-uhm ahm-ahh uhh-uhh to tie their words together. In a public speaking club, Toastmasters, every week each person had to give a 5 minute speech. Each ahh and umm were counted. person with most was awarded the Wizard of Oz weekly trophy. Rewatch your videos and count your ahhs and umms.

Well Lawrence, if you are working on being a toastmaster and making speeches the lack of link noises matters immensely! If you are concentrating on fixing a truck whilst rambling to your friends “ummm” how should I put this, the brain is preoccupied with the important thing, fixing the bloody truck and doing it safely! 🙄
