WRX Detailing Series: E9 - Jescar Powerlock Plus Polymer Sealant 

I fall in love with the color of the WRX more and more after every episode he does.

Matt, I have quite a few clients come back and still have protection after 6 months with this combo, so thank you. As far as letting it cure before adding collinite, I never have and have had that success. I actually have a client dropping his truck off tomorrow. So I'll give the curing time a chance and compare it. Awesome video and thank you for the great content.

Watching this reminded me of how much more I like using my DA to apply sealant/wax. So much faster.

The WRX looked insane, in person, this morning!

Jescar PowerLock and Collinite 845 is my go-to combination now, especially on my black truck that I show. So good, and in my opinion more natural looking than a ceramic coating. Those have value and applications but to me nothing beats traditional wax. Maybe it's just the process of applying it that feels more gratifying. Glad that you introduced me to the combination, as I never heard of PowerLock until your channel.

Thank you for the video. This is now, my go too sealant. I do put the 845 right after the PL. I haven't had the luxury of keeping the car that long. The only thing I can say from doing it that way is the fingerprint problem. I may be putting too much 845 on the pad too but if you even get close to the paint you will get fingerprints it seems like. Love your video's.

Wait till you try bead maker... I bought it after I saw you use it on the other video... did my first wash after application and it was just insane... apply after each wash and omg the paint feels like glass

May end.up using Chemical Guys Jet Seal 109, then 845. It’s what I have on the shelf. Strip wash, clay and apply. I used this combo before, put 2 coats of 109 down and waited an hour for the first and 2 hours for the second coat to seal, then 2 coats of 845 (probably didn’t wait long enough for the second coats but I was strapped for time). Very little working time as long as I put it on thin. What do you think of this combo? It easily lasted me the winter in Wisconsin, October to May.

Matt I was wondering if you could do a car that is worse off that the cars I have seen you do? Would love to see how you would work it, I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and will be doing a full detail on with paint correction and ceramic coating

Washing car is one of life's enjoyable!!!

I still have yet to come across anything better than Power Lock in a liquid paint sealant. I would be interested to see how Collinite 915 lays down over power lock as opposed to the 845, but haven't tried it yet. Power Lock also plays very nicely with Optimum Car Wax and OptiSeal as maintenance products to extend it's life cycle.

I layer 845 on top of Soft99 Fusso Coat, works just as well. Fantastic durability.

very nice work as usual... i bought jescar and collinite due to your recommendation(saw your segment on Pan's video) haven't tried it on my own cars... i prefer csl/exo.

Thanks for this video. Have you found a way to remove Jescar (Power Lock +) from plastic trim? Some time ago I applied Jescar to all surfaces (paint and plastic), but subsequently found that it left a mottled white smear on the plastic parts, especially the rough plastic like the rear bumper cover. I've tried several solvents, but nothing seems to work.

Can I wash the microfiber and use it for another task after removing the power lock?

Hey Matt, If you're in to it you should try Angelwax Stripped Ease, i used Carpro Eraser and even after spraying a panel down, let it sit for a while than even it out until it vaporizes and buffing off it still left some oils behind. (water test) Stripped Easy is labeled also a "Wax removal system" and boy does that stuff works!! Spray it on to the panel even it out and buff it right away if you want and everything 's gone! Water lays dead flat on the paint and your nitril glove kinda "sticks" to the paint. Just saying and sharing my experience. That Powerlock is somenthing addictive i use it whenever i can, it makes this blue so deep and rich, love it!!

Matt, have you seen that Jescar recently released Ultra Lock +? I'd love to hear your thoughts on that, and if it would go well with Collinite 845 as well.

It would be cool to have the same top cap from Jescar Powerlock Plus Polymer Sealant on the Collinite Wax! I have wasted a fair share of that stuff when I first bought it lol....

Is it because of the climate in Florida that makes the Powerlock last so short time? Since they claim 12 months and realisticly 6-7 months .

Does anybody know if there is a real difference between Menzerna Powerlock Ultimate and Jescar Powerlock +? Menzerna is what i can buy locally but if Jescar is specifically better maybe i should order that from the US? Getting ready to my first paint correction on my A4, it needs a polish after 8 years of service :)

I'm trying to learn more about this combo (power lock + 845) after 6 months or so would you do a decon wash and then re-seal with powerlock +845 or could you top up with just 845 every 6 months? Also is it possible to put something similar to Carbon Collectives Hybrid Coating on top of just powerlock so it lasts longer?

@ObsessedGarage So, you don't rinse your vehicle off after you apply carpro eraser? I heard some people saying that it can damage your clearcoat. I guess you don't feel that way but I would like some feedback about that. I did buy this one as well, but I figured I needed to bring the car down after using it. I suppose there is no harm in doing so.

I have already done a paint correction to my black 4 runner last year. I have some new swirling and want to use black light from chemical guys to hide some of that. (Yes I have new swirling, this paint is SO soft). I love this combo mentioned here. Would anyone recommend the black light before the sealant? Or after the 845?

Hey Matt, I have partial Xpel clear bra on my Q7, is it necessary to clay??. Xpel is self healing, so that’s my concern.. I’ve used a clay mitt before, but sometimes it seems pointless to do it on the wrap.. Would you recommend to do it?. Thanks!.

Can I use Jescar Powerlock after Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax?

Do you find a separate towel for final ipa wipe before protection would be more beneficial then the drying towel? I find that it makes me feel better to have a towel which hasn't touched any chemical other then a prep spray assuring my final protection sticks 100%.

Ok, I did this whole procedure on my 2017 Ram 3500 and it looks and feels great, thank you for the lessons. So now how do I maintain it? I have a PH neutral soap and a foam blaster. Is that enough to maintain it?

Does this combo (Power Lock + 845), with that time between these 2 only work at that temperature / humidity where you live?

So I was right about to purchase power lock, then noticed they came out with ultra lock. A sealant with ceramic. Your opinions and thoughts on it? Maybe a review? It’s was a $5 difference so obviously I purchased the Ultra Lock.

Do you keep your towels separate that you use to remove Power Lock like you do the pads? Are you ever able to get the microfiber towels clean on the ones used to remove the Power Lock?

I have a couple questions about the jescar. I know you said it requires 3 hours before it is cured. I live in FL with no access to a garage or over hang. Can I apply wax immediately after or is the cured process critical? And if it is, how would you recommend removal of light dust?

Why remove the tape from the trim prior to application of the sealant/wax?

So I have been using powerlock plus for a few months now and ran into an issue while applying on a clients car today. Hoping someone can help so I can make sure I’m applying correctly. I did my standard wash/clay/ipa before applying powerlock plus. I apply with a black foam waxing pad and battery powered DA. I do overlapping patterns to make sure I have proper coverage. I do the whole car and get back to the beginning and it is very difficult to take off. Almost like a caked on wax, I literally have to scrub to get it off and it leaves white chalk looking residue here and there that I have to continually buff to get off. Did I apply this incorrectly? Was outside but less than 70* and only the front was barely in the sun. Love how it looks after, just want to save my shoulders. Any help would be appreciated!
