WTF Are Amazon Doing? Lost Ark & New World’s Future 

Ffxiv bans means something because they have to buy new accounts after the bans. In a free to play game all bots just register with another account and are back doing what they were doing...

FFXIV's economy is only affected in very minor ways and can, overall, benefit from what botters do (e.g. shard/crystal/cluster stock) without actually impacting normal activity. The need for unrealistic amounts of gil is minimal at best and players actively remain in control of most of the market. The bots in Lost Ark, as a "new" game, have a significant impact. Like unbelievably huge and to the point that it literally makes or breaks the economy due to how their premium currencies work. The kicker though? That huge impact actually works towards the benefit of the player in the long run. Gold loses value in ratio, and thus you get more gold for little changes. The cost of in-game actions like Knowledge Transfer, crafting/upgrading, and honing do not change and thus, it becomes much easier to acquire the necessary amounts to do those things. Gold becomes less important from an in-game use standpoint, which 100% benefits the things players do.

Current farm bots have its advantages. They drive MB so low that poorer players like me can purchase many thing.

@@foomp Thats not how it works. Bots "print money" which in return cause inflation, which cause growth of prices. They might push price of shards/crystal/cluster down, but it reflects in price of high value/high demand items. Bots arent good thing by any means.

If it's not an upgrade or build timer in an old-school RTS like Warcraft 2 or Command & Conquer: Red Alert, it's probably a scam.

By default, that's F2P in a nutshell. It goes without saying that that's the point and how they make money for the game people play for free. That said, some are really far more egregious than others. In the case of LA, it's more some parts are blatantly horrible than others. At it's core, this is how Smilegate made the game and has nothing to do with AGS. However, AGS saw that and the changes that were made because of how bad the game originally was, and said "let's go with that but make it even worse" for NA/EU. It's like AGS specifically aims to be as bad as possible about decision making.

@@foomp If I had to guess, it would be that gameplay decisions are being made by business executives rather than actual game-player developers. Pretty much the same sort of corporate BS that's sent World of Warcraft into a nose dive over the last four or five years.

@@Maria_Erias While that's possible, the blame still has to go to the devs involved. They're a major part of its execution and without a name or face to point the blame to, they're the only ones consumers can. Best case scenario, studio heads themselves manage to use negative outcomes to prove why it can't be that way. I strongly have a feeling that while higher ups are often a problem, it's also possible that at least some of the shit can be avoided if studio heads were better at arguing their case (assuming they know better).

uhuhh and NCSoft is going to fix Aion and fully support it someday also. When are Western players going to learn the Koreans only see us as a cash register to ring every once and awhile. ALL they care about is their domestic playerbase no matter the MMO or game. Why western audiences keep falling for Korean developers crap will always amazed me.

This is what i was thinking too. They need to revamp their entire game to save it, just like FF 14 did with A Realm Reborn.

Problem with that is FF had decades of fans willing to give them a second shot, in spite of how bad 1.0 was. New World, being a fresh IP, is going to have a much tougher battle if this is the route they take.

@@Eishikigami Not only that but Square Enix didnt want the Final Fantasy brand to be tarnished. New World is headed to a quick death. They can improve it thru a massive expansion, but that might take them years. Most of the player base will be gone by then though.

The questing and company system are absolutely trash. They need to totally rethink these.

Which is sad for you because I have played for 200 hours, not spend a dime and still completely loving the game....but keep listening to people lmao instead of making your own decisions

Bro, its because the copium addicted white knights would very loudly defend the game against any naysaying, despite the fact that every single nay say was 100% correct, and amazon shouldve been listening to them right out the gate. First they listened to min/maxing elitists telling them to over tune guardian health in beta because it was too easy. That resulted in countless people pissed off that guardian fights took 15-20 mins each when the game launched and normal people got their hands on it. Then people complained there wernt enough honing mats. The min/maxxing white knights said the game was fine and everyone wanted everything handed to them. This resulted in ONE MILLION PLAYERS leaving the game. Alarm bells shouldve been going off as this was happening, but amazon just kept listening to the white knights and ignoring the actual players. Now theres noone left. The ceo has lost his job. Their bandaid solution is to start rolling out more content, some of which is completely unattainable to the average player, and still they do not listen as people are telling them honing is completely boinked and needs to be fixed(especially because of gold costs). Lost Ark is dead. Theres no hope unless amazon completely overhauls the game, which wont happen

Well with Lost Ark they didn't even need to accomplish the "Make a good game." Part just the "manage it well" and they still found a way to fuck that up.

@Urazz they never do that, no matter the korean game and localization team. Aion, back in the day, taught me that lesson. Since then I’ve never touched any Korean game because that’s just how they work.

@@IRedpunk what was it in Aion. 60/30/10 odds for crafting? 60 normal, 30 for better, 10 for next rarity with 5 levels. not bad one might think. but no. Every higher attempt used the previous 10% level as a base. So to get the gold it required a shit ton of materials for a chance, including rate node drops under 1%. Koreans love their rarity, bought or grinded. To a level the West can not stand.

@@Keldiur no I’m talking about the west release way back in the day. Just about the leveling that turned off many players as when you got to ~ lvl 30, there were no more quests and you had to very painfully grind mobs for crappy xp for hours and hours. Pointless, extremely time consuming and ultimately a mark of shit design to extend subscriptions. Too bad people didn’t bother. They attempted to fix it, but it was too little too late. The only good thing about Aion was the Vanilla OST. The crafting was trash too now that you mention it.

It's Amazon's final decision on how to handle and monetize the players in the West. Smilegate only gives recommendations.

Amazon thinks everyone's stupid, but themselves. Any mediocre gamer with common sense told them about NW not being ready. They didn't cared. And LA I have no idea why they did what they did and then took them so long to respond. Not to mention EU issues at launch :)

@@vecislt Well tbh the hit rate for games is not the best...thing is with New World as it is a pay upfront and play i reckon it could end up costing them more money just keeping the game running if the player base goes down much more

@@Mhinqa Don't forget less gold. Basically what they did is give less materials and less gold so prices went insane and no one apart from p2w, bots or sweaty 18 hours a day gamers could afford it :) They pretty much did everything in their power to make game less attractive for f2p players.

Amazon doesn't care. They're just trying to find something to do with the extra server resources of AWS. It's sorta like Xbox Games Pass, it's not an Xbox product, or a MS Games product. It's an MS Azure product. They had to spend billions building out Azure for business customers and they're looking for another revenue stream for it. Thats what Amazon Games Studio is. Just another try at monetizing AWS. AWS makes so much money though that Amazon can basically keep trying forever. Same thing for MS's Azure. They're massive cash cows. Both can afford to keep throwing money at it till they get it right. For some definition of right.

They never censored skins, only changed promotional art for the play skins for Soul fists cleavage. Those covered up looks for base fighter and assassin didnt make it out of beta. its full booba in character creation and base looks, However they did switch out the Summoner plat skin in the Mage character creation demo. Dont get me wrong the changing of promotional art on something u buy ingame is a bit of advertisement fraud. The skin and attempted race changes of character to straight up look changes on some, just look awefull for the most part and to me often look like black face when they still have blonde hair and blue eyes but they just turned down the skintone slider. Jerico model change I like but his old look is still in Boss rush lol.

already quit this shitty game after hitting t3. tier 3 is a scummy pain point that is a predatory way to push people to spend to progress. already quit the game cause that grind and shitty progression never ends after you hit t3. the progression get worse and worse. if you are a masochist that likes the pain and shitty progression then you do you. just know if you pay to progress you are a fool to the scummy tactics.

Yes and No. The KR / RU Version is far better. Amazon let out much sources / content to get the items you need (faster). Aside from that:The honing chances are better in the KR / RU version as well. On top of that, Amazon even made much items Kadar bound and not Roster bound. Like Upgrade items. So, in this case, the "western" version is the more terrible version

Just play Path of Exile, or wait for Path of Exile 2 later this year, the devs have been making great changes and are generally on a roll.

Really? I have like 300 of these. My issue is the untradable shards (the xp infusion ones) that you really only get from chaos dungeons.

And you will never have to pay a dime. As long as you except that you will always be behind most players, and that the game will always be gaurd raids and chaos dungeons every single day. If you enjoy that, then more power to you. Thats not a jab at you either.
